I'm interested in hearing some powerful quotes or sayings from other religions. I'm sure each have sayings that are pretty powerful or touching to the heart.

It's really hard to just pick one, but out of all the things this God says in the Bible I really like the one below. Mainly because, whoever this God is, it's putting it's self way above all others.

Isaiah 44:6-8

6 “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel,
And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts:
‘I am the First and I am the Last;
Besides Me there is no God.
7 And who can proclaim as I do?
Then let him declare it and set it in order for Me,
Since I appointed the ancient people.
And the things that are coming and shall come,
Let them show these to them.
8 Do not fear, nor be afraid;
Have I not told you from that time, and declared it?
You are My witnesses.
Is there a God besides Me?
Indeed there is no other Rock;
I know not one.’”

Share yours. Whether it be Christian, Islam, Jewish, Wiccan, Satanist, Native American, Buddhist, Hindu. Who or whatever you believe in, let's hear it
.

Ezekiel 25:17. "The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of the darkness. For he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know I am the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

Quoted by Samuel Jackson in the movie Pulp Fiction.

1 Samuel 15
3 Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

What a merciful and loving god!

But seriously, this is my favorite.

Luke 6
27 “But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29 If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. 30 Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31 Do to others as you would have them do to you.

I really can't understand how people believe these two people were the same.

Satan has been the best friend the church has ever had, as he has kept it in business all these years!

"Do no evil." - google.

... you did say religion? Can't get any more of a religion than the google. THeir devout followers are scarier than a whole parking lot full of scientologists.

And worse.. they can ban you from gmail!!!!

Thought this was fitting

"However many holy words you read, however many you speak, what good will they do you if you do not act on upon them?"

I once picked up a book called the new satanic bible, it was 200 pages of the words "do no harm." Pretty awesome. Pretty sure a local published it and snuck it onto a shelf in the store.

It is yin and yang. Without satan, the image of christ has nothing to base how good it is by. You need light to see in the dark.

Brilliant money earner too, if you play your cards right. I think the church is the best scam next to ISP's charging you for both upload and download bandwidth. That one is a pretty nifty trick. Charging both ways.

If you actually read the satanic bible, you find it's pretty much common sense.. apart from the pretend 'churchy' stuff. It's just the other hand. One hand, god, wants to restrict human nature and shame you for instincts. The other, the devil, says Be human...

There's always this...

# The author disclaims copyright to this source code. In place of
# a legal notice, here is a blessing:
# May you do good and not evil.
# May you find forgiveness for yourself and forgive others.
# May you share freely, never taking more than you give.

Satanism isn't what a lot of people (Christians) believe it is... read the book, you might be surprised...

You're a Satanist!!

Though I wouldn't promote it... which is not what I was trying to do anyways... I love that quote though!

Just being a smart ass

Bad habbit...

There are some great quotes from Buddha I have found interesting. Buddha is not a God. However, I wouldn't doubt there are people who worship him as a godlike figure. To me these quotes speak to me.

Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal with the intent of throwing it at someone else; you are the one who gets burned.

“Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.”

If you want to know the past, look at your present life. If you want to know the future, look at your present.

“All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become.”

There are a lot more and man I love them all. Buddha was a great teacher and thinker.

How about some Thomas?

22 Jesus saw some babies nursing. He said to his disciples, "These nursing babies are like those who enter the kingdom."

They said to him, "Then shall we enter the kingdom as babies?"

Jesus said to them, "When you make the two into one, and when you make the inner like the outer and the outer like the inner, and the upper like the lower, and when you make male and female into a single one, so that the male will not be male nor the female be female, when you make eyes in place of an eye, a hand in place of a hand, a foot in place of a foot, an image in place of an image, then you will enter [the kingdom]."

Good stuff. Can you post the chapters or verses where these can be found? Just asking for future reference. Someone might want to check out the rest.

I have a lot of respect for Anton LaVey because he is one of the few people who has a profound influence to me. A great individual that has become this boogieman. But in reality he was a smart individual. Not perfect like everyone else.

“There is nothing inherently sacred about moral codes. Like the wooden idols of long ago, they are the work of human hands, and what man has made, man can destroy!”

Yes, it's a quote by a human. However, it's still powerful and I thought it would be great to share.

Sorry, these were quotes of pictures someone made on Facebook years back. I copied the quotes from websites that have numerous quotes by numerous people. I want to also find out where these quotes come from and what Buddha was referring to with these quotes.
