What I got from the OP is that she feels shunned by her family and her people for having vastly different views. However, the OP did open a can of worms but that was not intentionally. people ran with it and had a field day. Sadly to say, I feel like topics like this are hard to keep civil, as this thread, like many others, have shown.

I can be racist but if you're white; you have NO direct consequence in my being racist.
However, I was once told, the first person to throw out racism usually, internalizes that feeling.

Besides, the institutionalized racism, nothing has happened to me to cause me to be aware of my social standing in white supremacy.

That's thing though; WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE SHUNNING HER? I know the exact profile of the OP. This stems from some deep-held inadequacy. No one cares that she has great self-esteem but WHY does it have to be propped up on the backs of the oppressed. That's for any marginalized people.

Sorry to inform you. Probably before your time. I am not sure of the amounts who died from both races but it was not until whites who stood up for the blacks started dieing that civil rights for all were taken seriously. At that time blacks dieing did not count. Whites dieing did. That is something not really taught in Black History month. The idea was equal rights for all. Not for any special group. Something to think about.

Juries have convicted innocent people so every reason exist that they have freed the guilty. Zimmerman is guilty of not having identified himself and of not adhering to the instruction's offered by a 911 representative.

Umm probably not but possible. Having been a thug at the same age of Martin probably the only way would have been if Zimmerman already had his gun out but even that is not certain. At that age you think you are invincible. I know I have attacked men who had guns out at that age. I was lucky. It seems Martin was not.


If anything the State of Florida has presented that it is Ok to chase a person one thinks is a criminal and if an altercation results, it is OK to kill them.

Meaning it is ok to kill someone based upon an assumption.

That is wrong.....

Do you see what you just did! RIGHTS for blacks DIDN'T MATTER when JUST blacks were dying for it, no, it only BECAME IMPORTANT WHEN WHITES STARTED DYING too. Is there not a problem with that? So a handful of white people recognized the injustice and put themselves on the line for it, they were moral, strong people. Nobody cared when it was just a bunch of blacks dying. A few white people died for it and suddenly the whole thing changes, becomes relevant...I'm not sure what you meant with your post at all. You're either saying that black lives are not as valuable as white lives or that society at large doesn't care about what is happening to black people. Inequality or indifference is what I'm getting.
