Guys....

I have a pretty good idea and feel soundly I know where Michael Hastings we heading to but never made it.

I am going to attempt to start a new thread to discuss the possibilities.

I am trying to figure out another piece of the puzzle:

When did Michael Hastings make the following statement?

"The Obama administration has clearly declared war on the press. It has declared war on investigative journalists - our sources, I think the only recourse to this kind of behavior by the government is to say back to the government, 'we declare war on you,' and from this point forward, we should no longer - the media as a whole - cooperate in any manner with the government “We should withdraw all our cooperation and we should publish everything we know, because it's a free press, it's not a free-except-for-when-the-government-tells-me-to-do-it press, and we've been way too easygoing with these guys."
link

The earliest date I can find is Jun 19 The Young Turks With Cenk Uygur June 19, 2013 4:00pm-5:01pm

Obviously by that time Michael Hastings had already been assassinated died in a car accident. Was this (part of the) Interview ever published before?

Any hints would be appreciated - I made a thread earlier for this which promptly fell flat on its face: Michael Hastings to Government: 'We Declare War On You' - When Did He Say This?

Also the theory of miner49r that Hastings may have been trying to get to a Foreign Consulate is quite interesting and well presented in his thread: link

Hey - MindBodySpiritComplex
I get stuck on details no-one-else seems to care about TOO...
I found this... Looks like he made these statements in an interview that was broadcast on "Current TV". The date on the web page, says May 20, 2013...
current.com...

Let me know if that doesn't get what you need.

Is it odd that the news guy got to the crash before the fire department? There must be wrecks all over LA every day and he just happens to pull this one?

Maybe - Maybe Not
You could tell, in the video of the Mercedes speeding through the red light at Santa Monica'...that they were listening to some kind of "scanner". Who knows - maybe multiple scanners (meaning multiple channels). Now - why would they be listening to police or emergency services scanners...if they were waiting to get a shot of Justin Bieber? In that sense - it does seem strange. I think JBA2848 has also raised the issue of "it's against the law in California"...so...kinda adds another log on the fire.
Oddly - I don't recall (in the video) them remarking at the "blast through the intersection". Maybe because there was only one person in the Loud Labs vehicle...and...no-one to "remark to".
When the camera pulls out of the gas station parking lot...there is chatter coming from the scanner/s. I'm thinking that they/he heard some "call" over the emergency scanner...connected the dots with the Mercedes speeding through the light...and set out to be first on scene (since Bieber wasn't around).
That's assuming that everything about the video is/was on the "up and up".

When I first watched that video I wanted to know whoLoudlabs was. I found somewhere ( I will try to find it again ) they are freelance reporters ( vultures ) who wait for news stories to break. They sell their footage to other news outlets.

Although it does seem strange they were perfectly positioned to get the red light shot on Santa Monica.

Edit: It's been a loooong day

Hey - MindBodySpiritComplex

I found this... Looks like he made these statements in an interview that was broadcast on "Current TV". The date on the web page, says May 20, 2013

Oh, wow, I think that's it - thank you sooo much for this, WanDash !!!

Well that does add some spice to the timeline of events leading up to Hastings accident. Also note May 20 is the very same day that according to the Guardian

Edward Snowden, an employee of defence contractor Booz Allen Hamilton at the National Security Agency, arrives in Hong Kong from Hawaii. He carries four laptop computers that enable him to gain access to some of the US government's most highly-classified secrets.

Which brings us to:

A Timeline of Hastings NSA Snowden Related Events v. 3.0

May 20 - Hastings states on TV: "...government, 'we declare war on you...'

May 20 - Snowden arrives in Hong Kong with 4 laptops giving him access to top-classified US secrets

Jun 5 - Greenwald breaks the NSA story in an exclusive on the Guardian

Jun 7 - Hastings LAST article: Why Democrats Love To Spy On Americans - LAST SENTENCE of this article is:

Perhaps more information will soon be forthcoming.

Jun 8 - "Intelligence officials overheard joking about how NSA leaker should be 'disappeared' after handing classified documents to press"

Jun 9 - Snowden is identified as the NSA-whistleblower behind Glenn Greenwald's story in the Guardian

Jun 12 - Hastings twitter feed goes silent

Jun 17 - Snowden: "Government is not going to be able to cover this up by jailing or murdering me. Truth is coming, and it cannot be stopped."

Jun 17 - Hastings mails a friend: "I'm on a big story, and need to go off the radar for a bit"

Jun 18 - Hastings contacted WikiLeaks lawyer Robinson, saying that the FBI was investigating him.

Jun 18 - Michael Hastings dies disappears in car accident

Weeeell, I think a picture is forming here!

Unfortunately, "no comment" doesn't necessarily mean they have anything to hide in the way that you probably think. There could be any number of reasons why they wouldn't comment that would really just amount to something pretty mundane.

I am pretty sure that here on this forum, we are interested mostly in the possibility of conspiracy and not just something stupid like people refusing to comment because they'd just rather not.

Thanks for that timeline.
Hope to be able to make some sense of it as more information comes to light.
Do you know "what" is meant by the line I quoted, above?
Was he very active on Twitter prior to June 12?
Would 6 days of an inactive Twitter feed be considered "out of the ordinary" for him?
Thanks.

just had a quick look:

earliest longer gap going back from Jun 12 is Apr 18-25 link So his twitter silence in itself is certainly not significant.

Okay - Thank you for the quick response.
Don't know what (if anything) to make of it...but it helps to develop a clearer picture.

Agreed.
I don't think anyone considering this case wants to deliberately overlook the obvious.
Every fact, however insignificant it might seem, must be viewed in as many lights, and from as many angles as are practical, to inch through the story.

For example - did you know that the passenger-side rear-view mirror was folded in?
Seems innocuous... But, it's a fact that is "slightly" out of the ordinary...and could help in verifying or debunking the "official story" when it comes out.

So - while I'm not debating your point/s (in fact - I am agreeing with them), just wanted to expand on a part of "why" I continue to hold "no comment" as a "fact" for consideration.

The passenger side rear view mirror could be significant. Also looking at the photos there is a large dent in the passenger side rear quarter panel above the rear tire.

Is it possible that he side swiped another car during the bottoming out and fishtailing process?

Also, I was thinking lastnight....on the other thread we found the two office locations of Rolling Stone magazine. Which is good...but not good enough. His last article was for BuzzFeed. Reading the email he sent out He was talking specifically about BuzzFeed. "BuzzfeedGQ er HQ" BuzzFeed's main office is in New York.

I am going to look today and see if I can find the LA branch of BuzzFeed.

Could Jennifer Robinsons Twitter feed be worth looking at a well? I don't know anything about Twitter but pehaps her later feeds may hold something.

I have no account on twitter but most or all tweets seem to be public. Jen Robinson Did a quick scan re Hastings but found nothing new to me - may be worth keeping an eye on though.

I read somewhere (either in one of the threads on this topic, or in a referenced article, or as a result of Googling something), that he had moved to LA within the last 6 months (I think) to open BuzzFeed's west coast office.

eta: Forgot to address the mirror and "rear quarter panel" damage...
That damage at the passenger-side rear wheel-well is why I started questioning "buckling".
In the crash test video...you can see some buckling taking place on the driver's side...at 50 mph. But - that was almost directly in line with the point & angle of impact.
You are not given the opportunity (in said video) to determine if such buckling was also taking place on the passenger side.
Nevertheless - if the collision took place with significantly greater speed (= energy)...can the "damage seen" be explained thereby?
If not - then, it would seem that what we've witnessed denotes some collision that preceded the palm tree.

While looking around I stumbled onto this

Witness: Hastings’ speeding car ‘shook my car like a freight truck going by’

I was checking for recalls for his year of car. While there are some recalls seemingly his year and model are not quoted.

Unless she's going to throw caution to the wind, and spill all of her magic beans... I doubt she'll put any information (past what has already been disclosed) in public via Twitter.
She would likely be considered "the piece of Wikileaks' framework that keeps them away from the boiling-oil-works"...and is probably a lot more cautious than journalists would be (would have been).
