Hi folks,

This is still to be taken with a pinch of salt as breaking news at the moment :

According to the telegraph Mr Morsi's National Security Adviser claims military coup underway, Reuters reports.

www.telegraph.co.uk...

And this from eurasiareview : A military coup is underway in Egypt, according to President Mohamed Morsi’s national security adviser. Security forces have placed a travel ban on President Morsi and a number of top Muslim Brotherhood officials, according to AFP sources.

Link : www.eurasiareview.com...

Claims over here on BFM TV are also stating that Morsi and his advisors are not being allowed to leave the country.

This has also been stated in the Jerusalem post :

Military seizes state TV as its ultimatum to Morsi expires; president's spokesperson vows Morsi would rather die than give in to army demand to compromise with opposition or face takeover.

Things are starting to warm up apparently...

More to come

Kindest respects

Military Coup? In most nations, I'd call that horrible news....and a true tragedy for the people.

In Egypt? It's the best news I've heard all week for the civilians. They have an odd thing in that nation. They have a military which seems MORE loyal to "the people" as a group than the civilian leadership appointed to lead them.

Doom on Morsi..and his chances of living through this probably depend on how many orders he issues to kill civilian protesters. If he's going out in a blaze of glory, so to speak? I'm sure the military will supply the blaze for his pathetic glory.

Here's hoping it's fast, decisive and very final for how it ends, if this is what's happening.

Hear hear Wrabbit...

The majority of the Egyption people have had enough of him and his ways and just want to live in peace, i think that the proof is the massive turnout of people on the streets... many people are saying that this is the biggest demonstration of people power ever! (Wish that this could be done in certain other countries too!)

Stephen: Archangel Michael said just a few weeks ago to “look to Egypt”. Well that’s exactly what the world is doing right now. And I reckon we are witnessing what must be the biggest protest in our world’s history. (Plus there’s Brazil, Chile, Bulgaria, Turkey, Italy, Hong Kong and these are only the ones we know about…)

Good day to all...................... Anxious (for a number of reasons) to see where this goes. I think we all know what the outcome will be. I say this because according to this article www.theblaze.com... The State Department is pretty much ignoring this... To save face?

I get what you mean, but that particular link only talks about the Israeli-Palestinian issue no, for the moment there are no interests for the US in Egypt?

Secretary of State John Kerry is aggressively engaged in Middle East shuttle diplomacy, having visited Israeli and Palestinian leaders five times since taking office only five months ago. Despite the intense investment of his time and American prestige, Kerry has no tangible results to show for his efforts.

It is now official :

Tanks and about a hundred soldiers are nearing the presidential palace according to BFM news in France.

A military coup is underway in Egypt, according to Mohamed Morsi's national security adviser and a Muslim Brotherhood spokesperson. Security forces have placed a travel ban on Morsi and a number of top Brotherhood officials, according to AFP (French press service sources.)

That's what I meant....... This guy is bouncing back and forth between 2 nations that we have no hope of getting to the table and haven't for decades.

He is totally ignoring a losing situation as the writer cleverly points out.

I think it is pretty funny myself.......... Always a distraction. At least he can say he was busy trying to accomplish something else.... Hehehehe

Here are some recent pictures (courtesy BBC+Al Jazera+Zero Hedge) of the first tanks being deployed in Cairo.

I can assure you that the army will soon, quietly, hunt down the leadership of the Muslim Brotherhood like a cat hunting rats. They´ve waited for this opportunity and moment for a very looooong time. This is going to be the Egyptian version of the night of the long knives (the first one taking place in Nazi Germany).

hmmm.....I think I hear the sound of a corrupt, panick stricken swine, squeeling in the presidential palace. Who can that be? Mursi, Morsi or (the) Mummy?

Why is Obama always MIA when it comes to major political upheavals. He is a big reason Morsi made it into power in the first place. Where is he now? Just like Benghazi, out of sight, out of mind.

I believe that the u.s. needs to be more involved this time. The last one was totally ignored by the admin here in the us and just look at what has taken place. the people of Egypt are screaming for freedom but are largely ignored by countries that claim to be free. I say it is time to stand together worldwide.

Many sheep applauded Hitlers rise to power. No one knows what is to come from this. It could be 100x worse for the people or men like Jefferson and Adams will find a voice.

Also you seem in favor of the night of the long knives. Have you read the history behind what happened? It had nothing to do with what was best for the people.

If the Egyptian people were smart they would copy Americas humble roots and stick to it unlike the sad pathetic people of a once great land.

I think the terminology is completely Wrong.

Coups are Not announced 48 hours ahead of time. They typically happen by the element of surprise.

This more like a Hostage Situation where the kidnappers were given an ultimatum and refused to give up the victims.

That Morsi did not heed the warnings and exhibited that he is not going to relinquish control tells me that his dumb@$$ is probably going to be dead in a day or so.

you mean something like this (courtesy BBC):

And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians; and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, kingdom against kingdom.

Isaiah 19:2

No, I am not a "Bible-thumper", just find it interesting (and yes..one could also see it as an excerpt from America's foreign policy the past 40 years ).

Maybe he is planning more school shootings come this fall.

Got to get peoples guns to "install democracy" and "save the children".

Some people burn the midnight oil if you know what I mean.

Can't be distracted with REAL democracy.
