Yes, well if its possible to disarm or escape from the situation without hitting, I still think its for the best.

I recall big strong male who was taught never to harm a woman, being beaten by her, though she was tiny, she hurt his ear very badly, he was bleeding internally, by hitting with the phone, and literally chased him down the road, yelling out his speed in km, to him, in a vehicle. He made it to the police station and begged to come in on the intercom. They didn't let him in.

He didn't hit her back though.

I cant tell you who has the right to determine a country's morality as such, I will say that any culture that considers it correct to beat Woman and children with a stick is morally incorrect bordering on sadistic.

I just want to add an observation : 5 pages so far of a very polemic video and information. Wonder why it isn't in the ATS front page, after 101 replies.

I'll be sure to tell Mon and Dad that. I got beat with WAY worse in the 60's and early 70's. Like I said. Must be a young crowd that didn't experience the good ole days.

Like I already said buddy, its called progress.

We have committed vast amounts of atrocities in the past, the point is that we learn from our mistakes and correct them to a fashion.

We used to consider homosexuality illegal, hang people for stealing horses, have workhouses for the poor and child labour surely you are not going to contend those are were morally correct in the past.

Whoopiee!!! Doesn't take the scars off my body. If you guys had lived in that time you might have a little more appreciation for what it was like then. Instead of looking at our past and say, "Aw, that was then...." We are just as brutal as anyone. I've got the scars to prove it.

ETA: Btw, it was my generation that spearheaded women's rights. Minority rights. Gay rights. So I guess what I'm saying is..... "you're welcome."

Buddy I was taking full force punches from my Dad from the age of 14, granted at the time i was nothing more than a ned, jumping around with blades and allsorts, causing chaos everywhere i went. Did it sort me out? Yes, but it does not make it correct. There are better ways of educating children as to the correct way to live there lives.

Our personal experiences make us the people we have become today so I cant see why they are not relevant to the subject of this thread when you consider the fact that its about beating up women and children with weapons.

Your incorrect assumption that our personal experience with violence is irrelevant is just wrong im afraid.

Agree with us, disagree with us, but please dont try and tell us our experiences are irrelevant because they are actually quite pertinent as to how we form opinions.

If you think about it you may come to the conclusion that Intrepids past experiences obviously have influenced his opinion of the subject of this thread. So the fact that he has shared past experiences allow us to more understand his opinion on the matter, however wrong he may be.

This seems to be a thread bashing Muslims, is that not cheap?

I wasnt actually trying to bash anybody, i was simply pointing out, that most of the religions of the book, Islam, judaism, and christianity all oppress women, and advocate the treating of women as property or second class citizens.

This video needs to be a SNL skit.

Did I miss something in the OP video? I couldn't hear the sound where I am, but I read all of the subtitles. This video (from the subtitles) is clearly telling men NOT to beat their wives, and certainly NOT to use the rods he showed in the beginning, but the instructions were more like spanking a child (i.e. no marks on body and face, etc.).

I think people aren't actually watching the video.

The guy in the video is cherry picking his statistics though. There are PLENTY of examples of Muslim women being beaten in the press....

I think you need to watch it again, all of it and with audio. He starts like against it, but as the video goes on..., it turns in the opposite.

No wife or husband deserves that.

To me the mere fact that he is displaying different types of rods/sticks/weapons that are obviously intended for the purpose of beating Woman and children is bad enough!

He then he goes on to imply that there is some kind of conduct involved with said act, no visible marks, cant hit them on the head and so on.

All I can say to that is im sure glad that I live in a country that respects both sexes, and trys to at least honour its citizens Human rights.
