.It seems like a very big surgery is taking place and of course it will be painful and expensive, but I am sure there will be a happy ending for all of this after wards...greedy people of the world have to back up a little and let us all to breath easier for a change....Morality kindness, care, freedom, dignity and respect should be the motto of the next generation or we are all going to vanish from this beautiful earth.

Yes, it does seem like that. The cancer is being cut out of society - without sufficient anesthetic, despite the distracting MSM and broadcast networks "entertaining" everyone into numbness.
I share your optimism, although it flags from time to time. I am weary.

Yes. If we don't get our ducks in a row - and SOON - we WILL vanish. And you know what? The Earth will carry on just FINE -- undoubtedly BETTER -- without us. She will recover from the toxins and the injuries, the "shaving" of the forests and the "paving" and "fracturing" of the surface.

If Humans decide STUPIDLY to use nuclear weapons on each other - the radiation, which already existed in the universe, and science has only barely learned to use and control - that radioactive material will simply be re-released into the universe, recycled and absorbed. WE, however, will become extinct. And the UNIVERSE WILL NOT MISS US.
Thanks for contributing

See you on the flip side.

I hope.

The problem is that disrepect and subjugation of women is part of the religion and the religion is more of a poliitical/militaristic organization run by men. To be good at your religion you have to do this so you have virgins in heaven after you die. Its a really neat head job.

I feel for people who are discriminated against and treated like dirt because of no fault of their own. I think anyone can relate to this woman's essay if they only stretch their imaginations a tiny bit. For example: What if you happen to be from a small town in the USA, small enough where everyone knows everyone, and you happen to be born into "That" family which has produced the town "Hellraisers" for a few generations? You're a kind person who would never dream of fighting, wild partying, breaking the law, etc. but everyone in town looks down upon you and eyes you with suspicion because you come from "That" family. Folks give you dirty looks, whisper hateful things or sometimes say them out loud, police follow you around and harass you, nobody trusts you or will be your friend, nobody will hire you, no one will give you a chance just because of the actions of some of your family members! It's not your fault your relatives have done bad things; you had nothing to do with any of it- and yet people still treat you badly and talk trash about you.

Now multiply how you would feel in that situation times a thousand and you might know how the rest of the Muslim community feels when they walk through town. They get hateful looks, people say horrible things, no one will be their friends, no one will hire them, the police harass them, they live in fear of being attacked and nobody will give them a chance all because of actions by others that are not their fault and they had nothing to do with! They don't condone the things that their "family hellraisers" do and yet they are constantly having to apologize for them and are treated with disdain for actions they had no part of. It's not fair and it's very sad that in "The Land of Opportunity" nobody wants to give them a chance all because of the actions of some crazy "relatives"!

Dear wildtimes,

This is half-baked, be patient with me. I share your fatigue and frustration.

Allow me to repost from shapur:

.It seems like a very big surgery is taking place and of course it will be painful and expensive, but I am sure there will be a happy ending for all of this after wards...greedy people of the world have to back up a little and let us all to breath easier for a change....Morality kindness, care, freedom, dignity and respect should be the motto of the next generation or we are all going to vanish from this beautiful earth.
I don't see that as optimistic, I see it as depressing. Here's why. Consider his four points (not necessarily in order):

1.) Things are really bad right now, and they're going to be worse. People will suffer and lose money and possessions.

2.) We'll have to find a system in which greedy people will be less greedy. (Change human nature.)

3.) We're all going to die, unless somehow the next generation becomes nearly saintly. (Radically change human nature, and quickly.)

4.) But, there will be a happy ending I'm sure, trust me.

Consider this change in human nature. What's our track record been in the recent past? Hippies? Anti-war movement? Occupy Wall Street? Tea Party? Al Gore? GMOs? They all make a little difference for a while then fade. Besides, we're talking about a world wide change. I see two ways of that happening.

One, how do you feel about a world wide government controlling everybody and everything? That might do it. Communism made a huge difference in Russia.

Two, there is another force that has shown itself capable of changing the attitudes of people around the world in long lasting, beneficial ways. At it's best, it is the very ideal of compassion, peace, and support for the individual. Because it's so powerful, and led by people, it can be and has been misused.

For some people, both options are horrendous. But if you have another path, I'd be delighted to know of it.

With respect,
Charles1952

Wildtimes, I love you. No seriously, I do. You are such a wonderful person. Words cannot describe your continual gestures of compassion and wisdom in moments where hope seems a figment of the imagination.

The woman has asked her friend the courtesan to teach her daughter, SO THAT HER DAUGHTER COULD GET AN EDUCATION because that was the ONLY AVENUE OPEN to girls at THAT TIME in the patriarchal CATHOLIC empire.

becoming a prostitute in exchange of getting an education seems a good deal to you???
Yes i do understand the condition at that time but i refuse to admit that all the women who chose a family life then or who choose it now don't feel satisfied with their choices. A full time mother who has not been to college etc is still a human and happy with how her life has been lived. Putting a standard for all women to follow and try to reach it and feel miserable when unable to get college education etc is putting too much stress on them.
A career could be satisfying, raising good kids and becoming a granny is also satisfying, someone who manages both is great but to feel sorry for or make a full time mom feel ashamed and a failure because she did not get good education is insulting, very insulting.
Who has the authority to set those standards?? Why should there be a standard anyway?

I don't know what's wrong in your life right now,

Nothing in particular, AI. I have it very peaceful. Not rich by any means - but at peace. I don't have to worry about where my (or my childrens' or wife's -
!!! EDIT: I don't mean I have a wife...I was referring to men who are worried about providing for their families) next meal is coming from, or if I will be bombed into oblivion overnight.

It's simply that I have the time to spend looking at the 'news sources', and reading about the atrocities going on in faraway places. My own life is fine. I am a social worker. No matter if it's here on Earth or on Mars or Andromeda1....I want everyone to have what they need.

No worries, mate. I'm okay. If a bit 'hot under the collar'. I see the world collapsing around us, and that DOES make me angry, and loosens my 'fingers' (lips).

I'm just really super sad about the state of MOST of the people in the world.

And super mad at the elite jerks who are perpetuating this crap.

As long as you're OK. Stick around wild times, you give me hope in the human race. And - your wife? You're male? That gives this thread a strange shade of irony...wait, I thought I misread, but I didn't. Are you wild's husband?

Not unhinged, just sick of the BS is my diagnosis. Enjoy the wine (I will also enjoy some) and look forward to a better day tomorrow! Sooner or later the madness roller coaster comes to an end, even if it does load new passengers and takes off again!

hi wildtimes!
I don't get the purpose of the OP. Can you explain?

The OP is a quote from a Muslim woman who is exhausted with trying to overcome the prejudice and hate that is aimed at Muslims.
MY POINT, and purpose, is to say that ALL WOMEN EVERYWHERE are exhausted with this never-ending 'patriarchal' 'male-dominance' thing.

I FOUGHT to be able to stay at home and raise my children MYSELF. I sacrificed having a "paying job" for that, WILLINGLY, because parenting IS THE MOST IMPORTANT JOB IN THE WORLD.

The purpose of the thread is to point out that women are NECESSARY, and INTELLIGENT, and should NOT be shushed and kept uneducated and 'insignificant.'

See my signature.
WOMEN HAVE A VOICE - and deserve to be LISTENED TO and HEARD!!!!

Even though WT edited in explanation......shame on you for assuming that just because someone has a wife that it automatically means they must be a male! Women can have wives as well, just as men can have husbands. (Lowers glasses on nose and gives AI "The Look"!)

Erm,......NO.

I am wildtimes - female mother, daughter, sister, wife, friend, peacenik..... and all other female attributes.....
I made an edit as soon as I re-read the post and realized what it implied to show that I was speaking from a 'male' point of view in terms of families starving.

WTH After!????
:shk:

Ok. We have an official "issue" now.

I make no assumptions, I merely asked a question. That's the point in asking questions you know. But thanks for the lecture.
