It has always existed. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, meaning all the energy in the universe has always existed.

The big bang could just be one iteration of an endless cycle of big bangs.

How is that any different from Christianity changing someone's life? Does that mean that the church now owns that person's fate as well?
That's kinda it and some of the problems with it. It's about surrendering to Jesus and having faith that his path for you will fulfill your spiritual needs in the after.

No offense, my good man, but you really have no idea that you are saying absolutely nothing. You get all of this meaningless crap from ONE book!

Messages from heaven? Prove it. Where are these messages? Oh yeah, they're in that ONE book!
Jesus said it? No, the ONE book says that he said it.
Anti-christ and false profit? Where the heck are they?
God is finally going to personally show something. Where did you get this idea from? Oh yeah, it's that ONE book again!

Please prove ANY part of the above because this is so disconnected from reality that I'm really starting to worry about you, Colbe. Give us a sliver of proof. Just a SLIVER!

Always the naysayer....

You deny everything of faith and you use to be Catholic. Your dear wife, you are certainly her cross jigger.
I have posted time and time again links to the Protestant and Catholic daily messages from Heaven.

God speaks to every generation, that's a long time. Believe prophecy. The messages from Heaven could
fill a city library.

I'll be glad to post a couple of links again.

Or you could surrender to no one and live in the moment instead of always looking forward to what's after this life?

If you're focused on the future, you're not worried about what's going on in the here and now. Maybe that's how the world has gotten so bad? Because people live for the afterlife and not this one.

I am asking, most fallen away Catholics are bitter about their choice. AI, if you knew the faith, you would
not of left it. You can come home, go make a good Confession.

It is truly everyone's desire. Jesus knows our nature.

"No" doesn't convince anyone. You are reluctant to say, speak of your Catholic background?

Catholicism is the antichrist. They claim to follow Jesus' teachings, yet they live a life of luxury in the Vatican.

Gold thrones, 24/7 bodyguards, tax exempt, millions in donations per year, playing the stock market, condemnation of gays, etc. All things Jesus would have condemned.

You don't believe it or see it because you yourself have been brainwashed into Catholicism. Ever heard of Stockholm Syndrome? I think that explains your situation perfectly.

I convinced him to stop relying in a god and start having confidence in himself and his own power to create the happiness he wished to have. As a result, he found he didn't need a god and no longer desired to continue defending the existence of one.

Hell, that sounds more like a lesson in self reliance, than it does a conversion to atheism!

Does he now claim there is no God, because he no longer has a belief in one? That's what REAL atheists tend to do!

That wasn't the post I was referring to when I said that. In fact, the post I was referring to wasn't even directed to me.

Bull! It most certainly was one of them! The term "hit-and-runs" referred to both of my first two posts.

Here's the comment that you now claim you were referring to as a "hit-and-run":

That PREMISE also has no valid evidence to support it! Therefore your "non belief" is based on nothing more than a convenient proposition.

That was in response to "jiggerj's" comment:

Atheism is based on the premise that there is, in fact, no evidence whatsoever to prove the existence of the spaghetti monster.

Why do you feel that his comment had any more merit than mine?

See ya,
Milt

No it isn't, the anti-Christ has plans to take down the faith but he will fail, Our Lord's promise. Jesus knows
the beginning and the end. Our Lord wants you to become Roman Catholic.

Your grand statements should be specific, it would help people believe what you say. Your second "they" is all of Catholicism? See, too general and absolutely false. The Holy Father does not sit on a "throne", do not be so anti-Catholic. And why do you make it plural? There are several thrones? No, none at all. The Vatican is beautiful because artist's throughout the centuries have wanted to honor God. Bernini, Michelangelo, etc.

Last time I read about charity historically, Catholicism was/is a big giver. Funny, how throughout history, schools, hospitals, orphanages had/have Catholic names on them. "Following Christ"....

Are you homosexual? Why do you bring it up in this thread?

you are dear,

Nobody knows for sure if God exists or not.

All we can go by is what is in our own heart. What our life experiences have been.

I will not bash a Atheist for their beliefs. Blind faith is almost impossible to a rational thinker.

Why does a person of faith have to endure ridicule? Where is the threat to Atheists?

I can not prove there is a God...

However, if he or she shows up. I wonder how fast some of you would be on your knees.

Always the blind man. All you have is empty words quoted from other brainwashed people. I don't have any religious fanatics in my family.

Do me a favor (or rather, do yourself a favor) and come up with the name of ONE man that had an amputated arm healed by god. JUST ONE out of millions! What? God works miracles everyday, doesn't he? What absurd excuse will you come up with for this? The one surefire way to prove that your god exists; one day a man has no hand, the next day he does. Of all the miracles proclaimed and yet not THIS one. WHY WHY WHY?

Answer, because your god isn't real. He doesn't exist. He's a fairy tale, Colbe. There's no magic, no miracles, no God's divine plan, no God's will, no angels, no demons. Nothing!

Despite all humorous comments that may indicate otherwise, I am not bragging or flaunting this development

oh really? well then lets see what we can analyze down the road.....

As an atheist, I have never felt driven to convert people

an understatement but....ill let this one slide for now....

I possess the mindset necessary to hold on for dear life in the darkest of storms, to brave the rapids in the river, knowing that nothing lasts forever - good or bad. Some people, however, don't possess such mental grit.

ummm... thats bragging bro...

I inadvertently converted a Catholic to atheism. You may bow now.

and so is this. Now i know, I know ,thats its your idea of a humorous statement but the fact that you see this just as your memento, in other words a "souvenir", makes it seem like just that..a.."I WIN, YOU LOSE" type of medal of honor imprinted joke.
Sure you did a fine job in covering it all up by giving us emotional 'momento's' in your first few paragraphs "Oh my dear friend, this is about my friend and his feelings not about me" but in the end you reveal the true motive of this thread especially on the title of your thread.

I wonder what your "friend" would think of this thread, should we ask him? I mean, he is your friend is he not? or is he just one of your 'some guy', catholic to atheist, gold cup awards?

hold on before you get mad, there is something else i'd like to add

so I hope I didn't create another of those snooty atheists that turn their nose up at any person who doesn't rationalize exactly as they do.

, you know exactly that this might not be the case

This morning, he declared: "I feel like a new man! A gnostic atheist!" I questioned him on the gnostic part, and he voiced his opinion that it can be proven that there is no god. While I hesitate at the use of the word 'proven', I am proud of his new-found confidence and self-esteem.

good job friend

There's a difference between believing in the unprovable to the point where it controls your life in some way, and believing to the point where it doesn't....If someone held a gun to my head and ordered me to say that the universe is a big pizza, the only question I'd ask is, "With pepperoni or anchovies?'

Yeah, I get it!

My gods have already given me permission to be an atheist, I just can't seem to pull it off though. So atheism is still an unrealized aspiration. Maybe "believing to the point where it doesn't" control my "life in some way" would be a start. That seems to be a fairly big hurdle.

www.abovetopsecret.com...
Maybe we should post a disclaimer in each reply on exactly which god we're talking about.

Dionysus, Artemis, Athena, Chiron, Jesus

Says the "fanatical" atheist.

You said your wife was Catholic and are mum about yourself. Similar to the OP. You want no one to know
you left the faith jigger.

All you can do is repeat "God is a fairy tale" and in the past had no response for the miraculous but denial.
But here you are bringing it up again.

Padre Pio by his intercession while He was alive, still here brought about sight to a person that had NO
pupils. Padre Pio himself, bore the wounds of Christ for fifty years. His wounds never became infected,
science tested, documented over and over. God gives some holy people the stigmata to help strengthen belief and remind the world of Jesus' suffering for all of mankind.

This healing would have to happen in a way that everyone could believe it happened. Soon after it would be deemed a hoax. It is very likely that this has happened before so it is gonna take more than just healing one person i suppose.

"ONE man" would be St. Padre Pio and he didn't live long, long ago. Pio died in 1968.

Padre Pio is famous for showing God exists. He answers prayers now while in Heaven too. All in God's Will.

Look at the pics and read some of the brief testimonies. Amaaazzzzinnng! Astounding!!
