" Afterinfinity I will convert you to Christianity."

With all due respect, I would not advise such a gross waste of time.
You will say,"Oh God please Help me".

It’s seems to me that based on the above, that your religious beliefs weren’t that solid to begin with… would that be a fair assessment to make…?

No

What were the key elements or deciding factors, in you letting go of your past beliefs and embracing atheism…?

I had held on to the teachings of the catholic church until confirmation, after that while reading their own version of the king james bible I found many omissions. For instance Mary the mother of Jesus is not to be worshiped as a Goddess or on a par with the members of the trinity. Also there is no mention of purgatory or limbo. Their Bible says nothing about dispensations in either place. The worship of statues and venerating them. It was these and many other dogmatic things that made atheism the only logical choice.

And how can you be so sure from your research, that all other religious paths and belief systems, are all wrong…?

Because most of the theistic belief systems all start out from the same points, such as the first people, the flood and so on. I found that none of these systems really assist us in the way of ultimate truth, because surely no ultimate truth would boast such methods of violence and disdain. Humans have always been the underlings, the pawns. We are dirt. AI has told me that humans are not meant to be the mortal slaves of some cosmic being, and I have felt the same for a long time. I just wasn't sure how to deal with it, considering my upbringing. Catholicism runs in my family. Wrong is a bad word, misdirected and narrow is closer to the truth.

What/Which mysticism stuff, do you believe in…?

The old Pagan ways were much more pleasing to me then how the church changed them into their own holy days such as all hallows eve, all saints day, Christmas, Easter, etc.

How can you believe in an “after life”, but not in a God…? How does that work exactly…?

Not the traditional afterlife. More of a "soul conversion", the energy transitioning from one form to another or one place to another. I don't know enough to say anything more.

Last question…Are you still an Atheist…?

yes

It takes more than that to be a Christian.

You converted a Catholic to atheism, huh? That must've been easy.

No it was not. I Anthonycooper spent many years trying to work within the Catholic system and found it utterly unrewarding.

Yeah, I'd bet you a six-pack that he'd say "Oh God please Help me AVOID YOUR FOLLOWERS."

The term "reprogram" implies a certain lack of free will in the process.

Yep! "I Converted A Catholic To Atheism" ALSO "implies a certain lack of free will in the process".

I fail to see where he did not make his own choice.

If he made "his own choice", why are you bragging about your "one sided" influence regarding that choice? The truth is:
He didn't make a choice on his own. You only convinced him to believe what you wanted him to believe.

See ya,
Milt

Stop it, Wild. I had to wipe my mouthful of coffee off the monitor before typing this reply.

ETA: Also, that's a terrible waste of beer. I'm guessing it's a six pack of beer. Don't bet him a six pack, bet him a cow pie. He seems like a fellow who enjoys cow pies.

"one sided influence"? The Catholic church has owned him longer than I have even known he existed. His entire family is religious. He has more reasons to condemn me than he does to listen to me. Are you drunk or what? I'm done arguing and justifying and defending. If you have questions for either of us, the addressed user will respond if inclined to do so. If you only have accusations and allegations, then don't expect any more replies. I'm done with this game. I made this thread for a friend, who has already said his piece.

If you have questions, ask. If you have snide comments and allegations, shove it.

No we just want to keep you away from sharp sticks and weapons, seeing you all can't wait to destroy the planet to try and prove your club right.

Zealots are a special breed, regardless of what they follow, eh?

For me, I like it better like so; "Oh God please Help me AVOID ZEALOTS."

"Killing in the name of X" seems to be status quo. Terrifying regardless of what that "x" is.

I dunno, they seem to shoot themselves in to foot enough to nullify the problem... What darwin explained at work, right in front of our eyes!

Oh, the irony in every word!

Pity we can't put them all on a land mass devoid of nuclear weapons and let them all just fight til the last religion standing....then...

to leave the rest of humanity to strive for the stars without all the BS religion brings..

While it manifest through religion *so clearly*.. I still feel it is part of the human condition. The acts we see are not exclusive to religion, although it certainly can give an avenue for it.

I truly believe it is all boiled down to "perceived growth through exploitation," instead of "actual growth through education and empowerment."

You can pretend you're sober. The rest of us will just stay sober...for now. But let's steer this back on topic. Are we done with the Q&A?

Ignorance is Strength
War is Peace
Slavery is Freedom

Whereas to me:

Purpose is Strength
Balance is Peace
Understanding is Freedom
