The Russian Supreme Court is deffinately not the UN...but this seems close to on topic...
www.forbes.com...
www.seattlepi.com...

The Supreme Court in Russia upheld the ban.
Witnesses will appeal the case now to the European Court for Human Rights.
I find it amazing that the courts site a law meant to combat extreemism. Cleerly a miss-application of that law. ...Obviously the courts are being blinded and not clearly using their own thinkin and logical reasoning. This does not only affect the christian organization of Jehovah's Witnesses, this could expand to any beliefs that are not Orthodoxy, Judaism, Buddhism or Islam.

wow reading these post shockedd me because i had the exact opposite view of the jws then most you people in this thread. When i was 12 years old my family abandoned me, a friend from my school's parents took me in to live with them they were jehovah's witnesses, they are truly beautiful people. I never grew up with love or affection in my house hold but they showed me how it felt to be loved. I still remember the first time going to one of there meetings (aka church) and was shocked to see that the people there were just as beautiful on the inside as they were.
I learned alot about there beliefs and laws they lived by, and growing up in a catholic church I never seen any one follow the laws that god n jesus gave so closely as the witnesses did.

heres some laws and principles they go by (and all these i found to be in the bible)
no smoking
no getting drunk(but drinking was allowed)
no sex till marraige
no swearing
and all the laws given by god, no murder, stealin ect...

most witnesses also do not watch movies with violence, sex, or swearing

they dont celebrate holidays like christmas, bdays, easter ect.. i couldnt understand this one and why they didnt take part untill i researched them to find that thre origen of these holidays come from pagen gods.

they dont worship idols like crosses, pictures of jesus or mary ect. because of a scripture in the bible stating .. You are not to make a image of anything on earth, heaven or under the sea and worship it

They dont join in singing the national anthem beacause they take it as a way of worship.

they wont take part in war, because of jesus command to love your brother. and because also in the bible it states god detests violence. I heard stories of many witnesses being put in jaill because they refused to take part in the war.

they wont vote, or take any part in politics.. they do this because in the bible it uses an examle of when jesus was asked to take sides in politics he said to of his followers: they are no part of this world, just as i am no part of this world.

they dont recieve blood. which i found at first alittle odd because i never had heard of this before , they showed me a couple scriptures out of the bible, one which states from god: abstain from blood

they believe that when you die, you dont go to hell because a few scriptures in the bible. one saying "as for the dead they are conscious of nothing at all" ecclesiastes 9:5

they beleve that only 144,000 will go to heaven which i fouond to be true when i read they bible it states this 3 times in revelation , one at revelation 14: 1

But they believe the hope for the rest is that "the righteous themself will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it- Psalm 37:29

they also use gods name jehovah.

after learning alot about this religion I still wanted to go and learn about all the other religions so i did that ,and they supported me in that.

I have studied many other religions but if i had to choose one religion i would have to say jws would be the true religion. even tho NO religion is close to perfect they are the closest i have found.

one scripture i use for the witnessess is the one where jesus says " you will know true christians because the love they have for one another.

now having studied relgions i have seen the faults the jehovah witness religion has about the dates that were made about the end of the world as well as some other things. they bothered me at first , but after looking at the faults of all the religions i studied i came to realize

MAN IS IMPERFECT WHICH MEANS NO RELIGION WILL BE EITHER
Which means you have to look past the faults and look to the religion that is trying its best to do gods will, and worships only god and trys there best to please him.

ps: one day i will be a jw unless i find a religion better, but honestly right now im selfesh and want to live the way i want without doing gods law (sorry jehovah)

All you people on this thread are great. You are either Hilarious, Wise, Honest, or Intelligent. There's a quote I've always loved and I can't remember who it was originally from but that is irrelevant. It goes "The ultimate ignorance is the rejection of something you know nothing about and refuse to investigate." Instead of insulting the JWs why don't you confront them and get their takes on the bible. You might say,"well what would our governments of today tell us if we tried to confront them about 9/11 or Kennedy or Capitalism?" Well ask a JW to open the bible and show you and if you still think the meaning of our bible is changed ask them to show you in your bible.

I've read a lot of your posts and comments and insults and a lot of your questions can be answered in the scriptures. I've been born and raised a witness and I'm still young (05/20/1991) but I am now seeing the truth for what it is. Yes as other commenters have said, everyone is imperfect and we all sin and we were all born as sons of wrath. Satan is very good at his game and has the Home-Court advantage(Earth). When word gets out and word always gets out, they are dis fellowshipped. There is no reason for all this hate and I think it is a waste of anyones time. If you consider yourself a bible student and you feel you follow God's word that was written to us through the prophets then don't insult other religions but rather spend that wasted time on reading the bible. If your atheist then spend it at the gym, your girlfriend/wife or boyfriend/husband, your kids, your work, your schooling, etc. Anything is better to spend your time on then ARGUING about a religion. As any psychologist knows is that arguing gets us nowhere as we are creatures of habit and anything that comes to our minds in an unnatural setting causes our minds to freakout and that's where the emotion sets in. Our biggest blindfold is our emotion.

Now I know much of you are going to immediately disregard what I have to say considering the fact that I said I was raised a JW but please don't waste your time telling me why I'm wrong as I have already seen most of your arguments in other posts. I have a very open mind and I love school and I love science, psychology, technology, conspiracies, etc. So don't immediately count my words as "bias" or "propaganda." When I was younger I had many doubts myself and I am one that questions EVERYTHING and EVERYONE but as I got older, more intelligent, and wiser I have learned to see the bible for what it is and isn't. I'm only 18 going on 19 as well so imagine what I will see 10 years from now
. So to you all I wish you a happy life and please try to find contentment rather that all this festered hate.

v5 KJV "And I heard the Angel of the waters say, Thou art righteous, O Lord, which art, and wast, AND SHALT BE, because thou has judged thus.

To cut out the AND SHALT BE is critical, especially when considering prophetic passages. The punctuation is also questionable in the NWT, which is critical.

You might want to do some research to see when & where the expression "And Shalt Be" was included in this verse.

Out of all the translations below, only the King James & Young's Literal Translation include this phrase:

Here is another good reason link that provides proof that the expression "And Shalt Be" was not found in Greek New Testaments of Erasmus, Stephens, Elzevir. It is first used in 1598 in Beza’s edition 5th Ed.

I wont quote the whole thing. Here is a link that explains it all.
www.bibleone.org...
Bezo admits to the change in his marginal notes.

I will add this from the same source.

This conjectural emendation was made by Beza in order to keep Revelation 16:5 in line with the pattern used in previous verses 1:4,8 4:8 It appears that this decision was not one made based upon textual evidence from extant manuscripts and translations.

To the best of our knowledge, there is no extant manuscript that testifies to the reading ἐσόμενος. While an 8th centuary Latin commentary on Revelation produced by Beatus of Liebana contains the phrase “qui fuisti et futures es” when referring to 16:5, it appears that, based upon his comments, Beza made this emendation for other reasons.

Therefore we came to the conclusion that Beza changed the text from ὅσιος to ἐσόμενος in his 5th edition and the KJV translators made use of it.

I hope you take the time to review these. I look forward to see if this has any effect on the comments you posted regarding the New World Translations rendering of this passage.

It always makes me chuckle a little when I see people express the view that the King James is the most accurate translation available.

Regarding the JW's view that the UN will destroy religion. It is not just the Christian religion that they believe will be destroyed, but rather, ALL religion. The individual nations themselves will do so, but it will be a coordinated effort no doubt instigated by the UN. I believe it will happen one day. The world is getting fed up with religion of all sorts.

Its funny that when this post was started in 2004 it was laughed at. Now it is 2010 and i see hatred against religion every day. In the media, talking to people and on Above top secret there have been many critical Topics of religion. How many more years will it take for society to reject religion and accept the U.N! 5, 10, 15 years? It doesn't matter. What does is that in the last 6 years alone i have seen a dramatic swing in peoples opinion of religion!

When the time comes people will accept authority and most will give up religion without a fight! We are living in the last days!

Just a reminder - take it or leave it, believe it or not but it will be fullfilled in one way or another!

Taken from "Daniel Prophecy 2001"
Dg 1- How we know are in the last days -part 9
Page 21 paragraph 12

Subheading: End of human and demon rule near

link: www.watchtower.org...

12- How many Bible prophecies remain to be fulfilled before God destroys this present system? Very few! One of the last is at 1 Thessalonians 5:3, which states: “ While they are talking of peace and security, all at once calamity is upon them”. ( The New English Bible) This shows that the end of this system will begin “while they are talking.” Unforeseen by the world , destruction will strike when least expected, when the attention of humans is on their hoped-for peace and security."

Current event's that are now taking place all over the world can't be ignored any longer. You can feel it in the air and see it on peoples faces. The uncertainty and anxiety and fear of what's coming our way.
Now, to pacify this fear - man's government will attempt to say that "there's peace and security" but there's none. "Religion" on the other hand will try to lend its support, even will try to meddle more and impose their own will upon political rulers - but it will fail. They will try to dictate to these rules what needs to happen. But they (UN members) will come to understand and realize that it is "religion" (called Babylon the great in the bible) is what's actually in their way of achieving this "peace and security". Yes they will "see" that "religion" is the roadblock for them to achieve this goal so they will be force to clamped down on the "powers" of these "religious leaders". Once they know that they can do this w/o any protest from the public/masses they will feel more emboldened and will fell more powerful. At that moment/time they will come to realize that there's no need for them any longer! So it's a sobering warning to all “religion” that meddling in politics will only bring them destruction (one of the reasons why JW's don't participate in any political events besides our complete allegiance to Jehovah God).

Think about this, years ago one can't even imagine or see this happening, but the fact is, support for "religion" is going down further. People are getting tired of it and see religious leaders themselves have no credibility. Europe or for that matter the west is becoming more secularized. At the same time "radical religions" are bent on imposing their own "sharia law". Yes time is coming in which people will demand to put a stop to this perceive "madness" once and for all. That demand will give the political rulers of the world (UN) the will to now “ban” religion for the sake of the “people” and to preserve “peace and security” of the world.

Think about this facts:
Most of the major wars in times past and currently going on around the world is related to “religion” in one form or another.
Christendom (so called christian nations) against Muslim, Christendom against Christendom (WWI and WWII). Muslim against Muslim, Buddhist against Buddhist, Hindu against Muslim just to name a few.
How many blood was shed from these wars? Yet EACH “religion” claim to represent a god! Christendom claims to have the Bible on one hand and at the same time gun on the other hand.

Yes time is coming when the world will demand to put a stop to this! So do you still think that it will not happen?

Question is; what must you do before you see it happening? The Bible has the answer!

I was raised 3rd gen JW for 16 years. The thing that got me mad (theologically) was when the book "Peace and Security" came out and they taught:

That Jesus was NOT the mediator of the "great crowd" but ONLY the mediator of the "spiritual Israel" (144,000)

The way now in which the "great crowd" got saved was by associating themselves with the "anointed ones" thus setting up the same old Catholic system hierarchy. Yeah, the same one they blasted every chance they got.

BTW, yes they teach all religion will be banned, including theirs, but that during the "tribulation" Jehovah will protect them. They even speculate that their "kingdom halls" will some how have an important role - even comparing them to Noah's ark! - Glad I'm out.

The end will come for us all when we die, and even if the whole world is destroyed, we all die alone.

regarding the ban of the religions...
it seems that it is true, i have read that some secret society was already planning to do this. and they are going to use the UN. i'm still researching about illuminati, but if their plan to have a new world order and they will have a one world government and one religion... they will surely have to ban the existing religions. if this plans are already on the way.. it means that the JWs interpretation of revelation is right!

regarding molestation, and anything bad with members of JWs.. nobody is perfect, all religions have this problems / issues. JWs please post some more about your belief about the book of revelation.

i wonder what religion will that be the illuminati wants....

Of interest in this regard

Recently the United States Government released it's National Security Strategy for 2010. www.whitehouse.gov...

It was published in May 2010. This quote was found embedded on the 46th page in regards to the United Nations.

Enhance Cooperation with and Strengthen the United Nations: We are enhancing our coordination with the U.N. and its agencies. We need a U.N. capable of fulfilling its founding purpose—maintaining international peace and security, promoting global cooperation, and advancing human rights. To this end, we are paying our bills. We are intensifying efforts with partners on and outside the U.N. Security Council to ensure timely, robust, and credible Council action to address threats to peace and security. We favor Security Council reform that enhances the U.N.’s overall performance, credibility, and legitimacy. Across the broader U.N. system we support reforms that promote effective and efficient leadership and management of the U.N.’s international civil service, and we are working with U.N. personnel and member states to strengthen the U.N.’s leadership and operational capacity in peacekeeping, humanitarian relief, post-disaster recovery, development assistance, and the promotion of human rights. And we are supporting new U.N. frameworks and capacities for combating transnational threats like proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, infectious disease, drug-trafficking, and counter terrorism.

Is there any doubt that all forms of radicalized fundamentalism in ANY religion; Christianity, Islam, Judaism will disturb the peace and security of the world. And the UN will be used by TBTB to put boots on the ground to stamp it down.
Why do you think that foreign troops are training with the UN within the US.
The United Nation troops that will eventually do this won't be acting on their home territory.
Conspiracy type people that visit this site should be familiar with this chart.

[atsimg]http://files.abovetopsecret.com/images/member/87031a1906e8.jpg[/atsimg]

Many Americans that visit this site view the UN as threat to their national sovereignty, and they are right, and they see it not because of any religious belief structure, but rather because they are awake to this monstrosity and what it is doing, and it's ultimate potential.

The puzzle is coming together, it's not IF but rather more HOW and WHEN?

When might come with Obama in power based on this quote from one of his speeches.

And I speak with some experience on this matter. I was not raised in a particularly religious household, as undoubtedly many in the audience were. My father, who returned to Kenya when I was just two, was born Muslim but as an adult became an atheist. My mother, whose parents were non-practicing Baptists and Methodists, was probably one of the most spiritual and kindest people I've ever known, but grew up with a healthy skepticism of organized religion herself. As a consequence, so did I."

Jehovah Witness conventions are begining again this year in GA, they come from all over, last year the topic was total doom and gloom get ready cause here it is kind of stuff, I have already heard the topic at hand is still all gloom and doom the world is ending, but that religion being banned worldwide is forefront.

I disagree with the JW allowing small children to attend these services, why terrify the little ones with all this? Their predictions last year didn't happen, and I am sure this years won't either, just like their previous predictions of the world ending.

I don't get it, why do they want their parishoners to be scared out to their minds all the time? Some scenarios pop into my mind, most of them involve money.

Nothing in the large passage you quoted actually identifies fundamentalism as a threat to peace and security. This is something you're reading into it. In any case, I share the doubts, which some people on this thread have expressed, that the United Nations, as such, is capable of putting out the kind of power which would be necessary to act against religion.

Look at society around you. I don't think the world is moving in the direction of outright abolition. I think the world is moving in the direction of syncretism, "toleration", stamping on the idea that any religion has an exclusive claim.

Now you and I know that the exclusive claim is of the essence of Biblical religion, so any attempt to inhibit it- perhaps banning evangelism, which is an expression of it- has the practical effect of stamping on Biblical religion, while leaving other kinds of "spiritual life" unaffected. This is the kind of thing which the modern world wants to do, and it would actually be a much more attainable target than outright abolition.

Ive been contemplating lately, but wondering where to ask the question.
Any CHRISTIAN knows suffering and lawlessness are allowed to eventualy prove that man cannot rule himself (Jeremiah 10:23)...and that we need God's Kingdom.

Mankind has tried every kind of self rule...from Monarchy to Democracy...Communism to Dictatorship... the one type of self rule we have not yet been able to explore and realize its fallacies...

The One World Order...NWO...Whatever .... the United Nations.
Give it a Name........

The world under one council... or one man?
How would that look? Imagine for a minute individual nations...states...unions...lands...under the thumb of the United Nations.

I want to know...who is the big boss in that picture? One man? One man from every nation as a council?

Would they really bring peace?

Would instead they say they brought peace?

Would they claim " Peace and Safety "-"peace and security, then sudden destruction will be upon them" (1 thessalonians 5:3)

Well, exactly. So that is an area where the crunch is likely to come.
The idea that evangelism is "intolerant" is already in people's minds, so it would not be a big step to turn it into enforceable law.

Nothing in the large passage you quoted actually identifies fundamentalism as a threat to peace and security.

True, but what is the current perception, that is supported to the extent it drives American foreign policy.

9/11 was a set up for who to take the rap, irregardless if it was false flag or not, what do most people believe. What did 9/11 achieve psychologically against fundamental and radical Islam.

Most on this board believe radical Zionism is a threat to peace as well.
It is the radicals, not the peaceful moderates of all religions that will awaken the beast to attack.

And DISRAELI as a christian you just disregarded that quote as being irrelevant, perhaps you should be reminded of Jesus words
Mark 13:37

"But what I say to you I say to all, keep on the watch."

Or perhaps this scripture as it relates even more to the quote
1 Thessalonians 5:3

When people say, "There is peace and security," destruction will strike them as suddenly as labor pains come to a pregnant woman, and they will not be able to escape.

With the draw-down of troops in 2011 and into 2012, just before Obama goes for re-election in 2012, this could come to the forefront.

All Christians should at least be watching world events with some concern as Jesus advised us to do.
