Very good post, although it doesn't, strictly speaking, answer the question. The single biggest and blackest lie is that there is no purpose (beyond survival) in our universe, closely followed by the lie that we have no free will.

No following first the simple primal lie, WE HAVE FREE WILL and do not acknoweledge the FACT (because God seems to in an fakirism/slight of hand way predetermine YOUR self WILL mode WHY the trickery). You are correct regarding the Blackest lie, because there is purpose to soul progression, individualized God componants WE ARE and if self realized do not give over the/ANY power TO the negative forces that are waiting mouths/yawps open to swallow it; gain energy and destroy the weaker OF US constituants in HOLDING FIRM the PLACES OF HONOR, those would be ARE the time locked in history. Bravery, Honor all things regarding War and the winning of for purity, righteousness (the best and most true morals man can fathom to despell any more conflict resulting in frivolous de-animation/death of a human body) could be contagious, as we are all one and must stop bickering amongst ourselves. There is purpose to our being, we HAVE TO GET BEYOND SURVIVAL MODE (crazy trick here), its a GAME, you need to know ITS RULES.

There is no ONE "greatest" lie (how can a lie be great? Dumb title) ever told. Humanity has been lied too since the arrival of the Moon, or Mon(day).

I could list 100+ things that are GRAND lies to humanity, that people still beleive and give attention to today as truth or 'normal' ways of life.. But there is no point to preaching to the choir.

But I would like to mention a couple, based on research. Whoever is offended or gets a negative reaction to my list.. All i can say is, be a grown up

#1 WORST (the word you should of used in your title) lie ever forced upon humanity = the moon is native to not just Earth but our solar system.
I will not go into detail, there is overwhelming evidence, and the nature of the moon is abosultely FALSE from what people perceive it as today..

#2 WORST lie = Humanity has no creator, nor a soul-energy.
This is actually number one, but given how many athiests, science-dominated minds there are on ats, its makes 2 today.
Again we have overwhelming 'evidence' (if you can even call YOURSELF that); that the human being COMPLEX consists of expanded consciousness that ranges far beyond the 5-sensory reality.

#3 Worst lie = Big Bang is a random event caused by unknown reasons that science (SCION) still cant figure out (how can we blame them, humanity has only been looking at the universe technologically for a couple hundred years).
Everything CANNOT happen from nothing at all. There is no logic there, there is absolutely no reason there, and no sense for ones mind to even think on these terms.
Consciousness is the intelligent and creative force of everything that is - but being born and conformed into a prison-planet where your mind, body and spirit is ment to be SUPRESSED day in and day out - one cannot truely comprehend this actuality, until one breaks from the common thought/emotional patterns of humanity.

To me those are the 3 biggest lies - number 4 would be GOD/LORD story which the Bible (Bable) so desperatly wants to portray.. IT who claims to be LORD in the Bable, is such a desperate and pathetic entity.. To say the least

Like consistency, it is a virtue of the dead. Among the living patience has next to no value. It is people being patient, which means that despite various changes of government in various nations, the rich powerful few, are always able to exert thier power over the poor, powerless many. It is the patience of the many, which means that these idiots and thier cheque books still rule the roost. If patience was abandoned in favour of immediate and unstoppable rage, they would not dare to do what they do, the way they do it.

It is patience with murderers, child molestors, and serial rapists, which see prison populations grow, and prisons overcrowd. If there were less patience in the system, then these wastes of flesh would be summarily removed from the gene pool, and thier upkeep would not drain our resources like a cancer on an organ.

Patience means emotions which should be freely expressed, and worn on the sleeve, have to be swallowed , and opinions which ought to be acted upon, ignored or repressed, all for the sake of virtue. Its utter rot. Be impatient. Impatience will stop people mugging old ladies, and shooting up drugs, and murdering people for kicks. It will be better for the world than an over abundance of patience.

Obviously, I am not suggesting that one should smack a kid upside the head for being a slow learner, or that one ought to resort to violence without just provocation. But remaining patient in the face of stimulus which ought to result in carnage, is not a virtue. It is as much of a sin as constant rage, total anger, and unreasonable violence in the face of fair treatment.

Patience stops us all fighting to all be served first.
Patience leads to self control, which is a virtue.
Impatience leads to criminals stealing to get what they want in the now, instead of saving up and earning it.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but your argument has some pretty huge flaws.

Your use of the word patience when dealing with paedophiles is incorrect, I think the correct term is leniency in which case yes we(or rather our govt) are far too lenient when dealing with real criminals, and not lenient enough when dealing with the rest of us.
You do realise we abolished the death penalty because there were too many miscarriages of justice where innocent people were murdered by the state.
No one calling for the death penalty or execution of anyone else can be called "civilised".
Its simply animalistic instinct, brought on by an emotional response. I call it barbarianism, I thought we had come further than that backwards type of thinking, once again Im mistaken.

No, the greatest truth is the most apparent one as physical beings. WE corrode and ALL Die BELLY UP.

Don't know which one is the greatest:

- that the mind is mankind's pinnacle,
- words encapsulate truth,
- Someone has authority over you,
- All maladies cannot be cured,
- there's boundage, ...

But the above are all great lies...
