Great Googly Moogly!

So does that mean next month we don't have to bother paying our bills?

Now that would be a relief... Wouldn't it?

If many simultaneous volcano's did erupt the debris would be tossed into the atmosphere blotting out the sun, killing crop and people.A new ice age.

The odds of a volcanic eruption in Hawaii are very high.
However the odds of it being destructive are very low.

From what I understand, the type of material the magma is composed of plays a major factor in this.

Your suggestion that a shelf wall collapse could occur is not impossible, albeit unlikely.

I am thinking in order for such a calamity to occur, we would need major earthquake activity in order to facilitate the breaking up of material underwater thus creating landslides. Apparently Hawaii gets a lot of EQ's around the 2.0 range, but for a large shelf collapse event we would probably need something upwards of a 7.0 scale quake. Hawaii has had 7 sized quakes before and it was cataclysmic in some of those instances.

Here check out this article by people who are far more informed than myself:
Hawaii Star Bulletin

Researchers try to map out Hawaii’s cataclysmic future

Fryer, who reported on the prehistoric Alika 2 submarine landslide with UH ocean researcher Gary McMurtry in the September issue of the journal Geology, says the resulting tsunami would cover the isthmus of Maui and flood Oahu to the outskirts of Wahiawa. "Basically, Honolulu is removed from the map," says Fryer.

Of course they are talking about shelf collapses that happened anywhere from 100 to 120 thousand years ago. But the topic is relevant and pertains to your dream.

Yes it is possible.

While its interesting to watch, earthquakes are not enough to predict an eruption. One has to look at many variables such as uplift, gas, temperature, etc. Earthquakes can be relieving pressure as well as crunching together plates which would build pressure within the magma chamber. I wouldn't worry about it too much but rather pay attention for educational purposes. Scientists have little in regard to certaintty with super volcanoes as an example. It's a process of learning as they go. Would a caldera type of volcano give warning like a strata volcano such as Mount St. Helens? No one can say for sure but rather describe theories based on what they know about certain types of volcanoes whose behavior (so to speak) has been observable before an eruption. It is interesting to watch long valley and yellowstone the last few weeks though. It does appear outer rims of places such as mammoth mountain and the intermountain west are having some fits but then they calm down. Best guesses are that if a big volcano went it would likely be a smaller eruption so nothing catastrophic. Don't worry in any case. There is nothing anyone can do about it if it were to become something more and in the meantime these things provide an intriguing self-study opportunity.

This doom porn would be so much more entertaining if it weren't for everyone interjecting their good common sense. Thanks for ruining the doom porn everybody!

The earthquakes lately in idaho and yellowstone area, are in the 2 and 3's, 4.2 today and there have been some everyday lately,
I never noticed that to be happening before.
One thing i am sure of the mainstream will wait until the last possible second before any kind of warning comes out before an eruption. I can understand their reluctance, but realize you cannot count on them.

April 18, 2013 – SALT LAKE CITY — Yellowstone’s underground volcanic plumbing is bigger and better connected than scientists thought, researchers reported here today (April 17) at the Seismological Society of America’s annual meeting. “We are getting a much better understanding of the volcanic system of Yellowstone,” said Jamie Farrell, a seismology graduate student at the University of Utah. “The magma reservoir is at least 50 percent larger than previously imaged.” Knowing the volume of molten magma beneath Yellowstone is important for estimating the size of future eruptions,

In the Northwest where I live (Mount Rainier) is considered by many to be "America's Most Dangerous Volcano" .

Here are some quotes from the article:

"Mount Rainier is one of the largest and most dangerous volcanoes in the United States. The danger isn't an eruption, but something more insidious. The problem is that the mountain is rotten inside, and could collapse at any time."

"It dominates the landscape and rises nearly three miles higher than the lowlands to the west, where millions of people live 60 miles away in the cities of Tacoma and Seattle, Washington. The threat to the local population isn't fire, but mud and ice."

First off, I second the snickers bar. You are probably hungry.
Second, Melting ice is causing the earth to heat up? Well at least you've given me an idea about how to heat my home next winter. I'll just make ice cubes and leave them all over the house to melt. That should keep us good and cozy no?
Sometimes I wish there was an IQ test you have to take before you can post on this site but alas they leave the door open for anyone to just stroll in. Shakes her head.

Since when did IQ have anything to do with lack of insanity or basic commonsense?

I've meet professors who can't tie their own shoes laces or pick things up off the floor of their own houses.....

It's the not an IQ test that is needed, it's an insanity test.

That how come I'm here...I'd fail !!!

Thanks for that
MANILA, Philippines (AP) — A mountain guide says three foreign climbers and their Filipino guide were killed when one of the Philippines' most active volcanoes spewed rocks and ash after a 3-year calm.
Albay provincial Gov. Joey Salceda said rescue teams are being dispatched Tuesday to Mayon volcano in the central Philippines to look for four more climbers and guides still trapped near the crater.
Guide Kenneth Jesalva told ABS-CBN TV network by cellphone from a camp near the crater that the four climbers died after being hit by huge rocks. Another man was critically injured from a group of eight that included five foreigners and three Filipino guides. The nationalities of the foreign climbers are not yet clear.

Be careful what everyone wishes for. We might all end up with a nasty case of third degree burns... Just saying... Oh! And by the way, you might want to conduct extra research before blatantly stating that the world will end when, in reality, no one knows. How do I know? Let's look at the evidence, PLEASE!!

A) Mankind has always been predicting the so-called "end of the world", yet... Here we are...
B) It is merely speculation that the world would end in our lifetime
C) Has ANYONE every even HEARD of Chaos Theory?? No? Well then, I rest my case...
D) Oh fine, you all seem too well confused anyway. Chaos Theory, in summary, states that virtually nothing can be predicted, there are too many variables in which to be accounted for. One simple mistake and your whole calculation is thrown off balance.

I am not predicting the end of the world, I just feel volcanes will erupt simultaneously and fulfill what Jesus said about plumes of smoke everywhere and the sun and moon becoming like sackcloth. This is now 2 volcanoes happening

Ummmm.... Hmmm... Let's review here... You are NOT saying that the world is ending, but... More of two volcanoes erupting simultaneously?... This is a great need to raise alarm how, might I ask?.....

Thanks for the remarks about 2 top threads but I dont think so, ATS wont feature my Shroud Jesus discovery on the main page I think. I cannot top the Shroud Jesus discovery video clip thats my greatest work ever in all my film processing clips.
