First time out in about two months due to weather and work so just testing out the equipment again.
So back to my favourite target of the moon again (ISO 100, 1/60", Canon 700d on a 150PL scope)

Also, did quite a few star test images to check focus and colimination but probably too dull to post on here.

Hi ALL

This doesn't compete with ngchunters.

Here is a picture I took at a dark sky site near were I live.

Exposure details Sony SLT A37 f3.5 10 secs at iso 3200 18mm focal length.
The fuzzy blob of light near the top middle is a fraction of the Andromeda Galaxy starting to show in the exposure. It's a wide angle shot and a crop from the full picture which was 4912 x 3264 pixels the picture above is 604 x 307 pixels.

Heh, that's ok, I can't compete with my own image now; that ST-7 camera died shortly after it took that image
. I'm selling one of my other cameras and I bought a used ST-2000XCM on ebay to replace the ST-7. Should arrive in the mail today.

That really is a great first image, I only wish my first attempts at imaging Saturn had been so successful.

Thank you! Being a manual tele, quite shaky, I had to record about 20 mins of video to produce this image. Once its warm again, Im going to see what happens when I record about 45 mins of video, maybe produce a clearer picture.

Be mindful of blurring due to Saturn's rotation. I generally try to stack within 1-2 minute continuous intervals. Of course for producing a single still image you want to select the best possible minute, so recording extended videos is fine. But when you go to stack you should select the best minute of seeing. Saturn rotates once about every 10 hours, so if you stack 45 minutes of video you'll blur any cloud features you might have otherwise detected. This is more important for Jupiter where the cloud features are much more pronounced, but still important to get the best possible images of Saturn.

A rather adventurous image of the Moon I took with a compact digital camera through binoculars:

Couldn't get it in focus no matter how much I tried.
