Shouldn't be a big deal. I think people should directly worry about what is good for their country rather than doing it through the constitution, it's not needed anyway, if it disappeared from existence tomorrow nothing would change.

Its existence is a limiting document on the powers delegated by the States and the People to a central government. Sure the sun will rise tomorrow as it has for eons, but the powers held at he central level will be vastly consolidated without a whimper from a people who have, at least at this time, a document they can rely on to fight back against such consolidation.

Another note, not one Constitutionalists is afraid of change but it is when change is brought through fiat and back-door interpretations or even bureaucracy, that is where we make a stand. There are provisions laid out for change and Congress and/or the president doesn't even bother to effect that clause because they know it would fail. Rather, they use the 1000s of agencies and commissions and pencil pushers to make up rules and laws.

That isn't government. That is corruption.

Excellent idea!!!
We will need a test though to see if this system will work.
What we will need to do is disarm all police and security agencies first for only one year.
After this test period of disarmament we will see if this is the best option.
I'd bet by that point, thousands of dead politicians, human shields and officers would all see things the way I do.
The only truly free man is one with teeth.

I cannot believe there are people in positions of power who openly crap all over the document and the ideas that this country is based on. The Bill of Rights is NON NEGOTIABLE. They are not just guidelines, but rather they are ESSENTIAL to democracy, liberty, and personal freedom. Anyone who cannot see this should not be allowed to hold office and represent other people. Not everything in the government is open to interpretation, and the Bill of Rights and the Constitution are some of those things.

They are not just ours, but also those who came before us and established this country. Those who died, by the thousands over the years, were fighting to preserve those very documents, and we cannot come up and change them for any reason. This is because if they ever were changed, the US would cease to be what it was created to be, and people would lose rights. That is what this is about, RIGHTS. We have them, because our founders said we had them, and our whole system is based on us having them. We are entitled to them, plain and simple. People want to talk about entitlement and say that it is a bad thing, and they may be right in other cases, but not in this case.

Franklin said that anyone who would give up rights for security deserve neither rights nor security...More or less that is what he said. And it is just as true today as it was in 1776, for those who gave their lives or risked their lives to create something that had never been created before to the same degree. Americans are forgetting where they are coming from, and this clown who is saying these things is definitely one of those people. Every single person who loves liberty and freedom should be willing to fight and die for those things, for themselves, their families, and those who both have come before them, and for those who will come after them. If fighting for these liberties means that we are fighting the very government who is supposed to protect these basic rights for us, then so be it.

The Constitution is quite clear, and all oaths of enlistment are quite clear, that no matter where the threat to liberty comes from, within or without, it must be opposed. This is why we have a 2nd amendment, because that day when the people must oppose the government WILL come, sooner or later, and the people must have a way to defend their liberties and rights. This is so simple a child could understand it. And even though there are people who do not care that others died to give them these liberties and rights, and gave them a roadmap on how to preserve these rights, hopefully many still do.

Our government is so hypocritical it is ridiculous. They want us to give up our lives via the military to fight in other countries for the "preservation or establishment of freedoms and liberties," yet they are slowly stripping those very things from us at home, as we speak. That should make everyone MAD. You should be angry at this. This type of thing should not be stood for. If it were just another political idea, something to be debated, one should not get angry. But this is something that is essential to our freedom. This is something that is non-negotiable, which means that the idea is already perfect, and should not be tampered with.

yeah, that's the ticket--let's just voluntarily cancel the constitution, rather than have it snatched piece by piece as is happening now. throw it in the dumpster out back already!

That's not what I was saying, but it wouldn't matter if you did.

Check out the movie "Unthinkable" which is a watered down depiction believe me.
We will not change a thing,we just need to FIX what we already have, nothing more.
Oh and DISBAND TSA,DHS and the IRS who will be folded into the "functional" agencies we have had for more than 10 years.

Bloomberg is a progressive fascist scum bag. The ironic part is the people who support him don't even begin to understand just how fast he will also take away there personal freedoms.

Well said, Sub. I live in Upstate NY, fortunately far away from NYC, but not far enough! I wish NYC would sink and float away; it's killing the rest of the state. Fascists like Bloomberg and Cuoma secure votes by keeping the poor poor. 2013 Axis of Evil: Schumer, Cuomo, & Bloomberg.

At what point do they overstep their bounds? What is the line??

I mean the Nazis hit the threshold at some point for someone, America surely has to be nearing it for many...

We can live freely with the risk of danger, or we can live in total theoretical safety from everything ... except the form of tyranny which "protects" us from all other dangers.

That's a bit oversimplified and I know there is more nuance to it than that, but it appears to be the nature of reality when it comes to government in my experience thus far on the planet. If we cease to be what and who we are in an effort to protect ourselves, then we are only protecting a shell in my opinion.

Peace.

No surprise, coming from the Big Brother of NYC. If they were really concerned about safety, they would stop allowing people KNOWN to be probable terrorists into the country. They would prosecute all the criminals that have been let off the hook the last few years, but the "Justice" Department. They would stop treating ordinary citizens like terrorists at the airports, and focus on those likely to be a real threat. they would secure the border.

But, no, Big Brother Bloomberg wants control. He's the one saying it, but we can be certain he isn't the only one wanting it. Some far higher up want the same thing.

It's like being victimized twice. Oh you got your foot blown off? Here just sign the dotted line so we can make you more secure by taking your rights away. Here let me provide you with a bone saw so you can cut your other foot off. Governments always there to take advantage of the moment which makes them no better then the bombers.

Americans laugh at us Brits for not haveing guns and saying we have no way to protect us from tyranny yet you still let goverments rip you constititution up and suck your rights away. Why are your beloved guns not stopping this? Guns or not you seem to sit by and let this happen and worse vote these morons in to office. Your country is far from being the most "free" country in the world. Hell your two party system is retarded and makes your democracy a joke.

Least us Brits have a good riot if we get pissed off.

As an American, a Patriot, a Libertarian, and a Veteran...I have to agree with you. Americans are the worst at sitting by and letting our government trample us. If you need to topple a small regime, or conduct a political assassination, then We're you're man! While I'm a supporter of 2nd amendment rights and am a proud firearm owner, I do not believe our guns will be helpful until the very, very end, where national marshall law has been established. Guns won't prevent tyranny but they will protect you from your neighbor who is eye-balling your fuel supply or generator. Unfortunately, there's a lot of bs in between those two points. The truth is that All governments are corrupt. All politicians, regardless of party or philosophy, are thieves and criminals. To quote from The Hunt for Red October, "I'm a politician, which means when I'm not kissing and hugging babies, I'm stealing their lollipops." Americans are similar to raccoons, we are easily distracted by shiny objects; our government knows this and depends on this. We get worked up quickly but drop the ball even quicker. The glaring example of this was September 11th 2001.

The song titled Aenima, by Tool, sums up America's short attention span and how our reliance on Stuff has blinded us to what's happening around us.

Fret for your figure and
Fret for your latte and
Fret for your lawsuit and
Fret for your hairpiece and
Fret for your Prozac and
Fret for your pilot and
Fret for your contract and
Fret for your car

Cheers!

Then the "terrorists" (foreign and domestic) truly are winning: they are fundamentally changing our way of life.

Can't believe I'd ever agree with President Bush.

Quick, get the meds!

I agree that the constitution interpretation needs to change. The change that we need is to have elected leaders follow it for a change not violate it whenever it gets in their way.

Why are the British folks SO fixated on America's gun problem?? A story headlining in the last couple days in England features a 16 year old boy knifed to death on a municipal bus by what Scotland Yard initially says is a 15 year old. So....he was gutted like a fish instead of shot like a deer. Okie... Dead is dead and I'm sure the 16yr olds family isn't feeling better for the fact he was eviscerated instead of shot.

Enough with bashing the US on the fact we didn't meekly hand over our means of sport, hunting and personal defense. It literally isn't your issue to BE concerned about when so much in your own nation is wrong. It's that straw man argument that has people like Bloomberg empowered to say things like this in the first place and be taken seriously by anyone, IMO.

Im not bashing have your stupid guns for all I care its not my country. My point is Americans claiming gun protect them from tyranny and that Britain is some how less free for chooseing to have strict gun control when the fact is your being sapped of your freedoms quicker that the UK and you are doing nothing. Arent your Guns supposed to protect against that?

As for Hunting and sports guess what you can get a permit to own a gun for that in the UK! Guns are not complety banned just controlled. And self defence? Well we can use knives and crossbows because as you said dead is dead it matters not what we kill each other with does it

Again Im not saying you should give your guns up. If the majority of you american want them have them. Diffrent country diffrent culture. Just dont claim they protect you from tyranny as they obviosly arnt!
