The response was NOT appropriate. The ends do NOT justify the means. Their response was unconstitutional. It violates the fourth amendment and posse comitatus.

Morons that spout off that extreme situations require anticonstitutional measures need to find another country to live in so they can feel their false sense of safety.

When people fear their government, it is not safety.

Jaden

What was the unreasonable search and seizure yesterday? What violated the Posse Comitatus Act?

I reiterate.... I live in Boston and Martial Law was not declared. Residents in Watertown, Newton, Cambridge, Boston and Arlington were asked to Shelter in Place because there was a terrorist on the loose, this entailed public transportation and taxi service ordered shut down (so that there was less chance he could escape).

Yes it was unnerving to see on the news, and probably more so in the neighborhoods directly affected, armored trucks, bomb containment apparatus, black hawk helicopters rolling through residential areas... it was crazy to see a shopping mall many local residents are very familiar with turned into a command center for FBI, state and local police and obviously some degree of military involvement. Personally, I felt strange having been asked to stay at home for something other than weather.

But do you know what was more unnerving? Knowing a terrorist was hiding out in a neighborhood that looks just like mine. Knowing that hours before he and his brother had been lobbing explosives at police and now he could potentially have invaded some family's home, did he have more explosives on him? I would have been furious if law enforcement hadn't responded the way it did, and likely most everyone on here screaming about martial law would have been just as furious.

Everything is back to normal today, we are 'allowed' back outside... taxis and public transportation are running. We might be slightly hung over though because as soon as the terrorist was caught everyone in the areas affected poured out into the streets and partied. Every cop car that passed a crowd of celebrators was cheered.

We are happy today, we begin to heal today. It's been a hard, nerve wracking week... our piece of mind and our hearts were shattered on Monday. A system I tend to not have much faith in and will continue to be skeptical of, worked yesterday and I am happy for that, people in the areas affected are happy for that. So choose to think negatively if you want, that is your right... but know the facts directly debunk your 'theories' and your darkness does not touch our doorsteps today.

This thread is ranting about Martial Law and taking our rights away?

This was an attack by Al Qeada.

This terrorist cell was lead by a guy named Abdul Al-Alharbi.

He burned his hands trying to assemble HIS crockpot bomb.

There were 2 guys with him. 1 was taken into custody for Visa problems. The other

is on the run.

And if we take what you have said as true, then you just presented a situation in which martial law can be implemented. You gave a situation of terrorists and terrorists still on the loose. WHO ARE Mike Mulugeta and Sunil Tripathi? Why were these names given first??

Yes, one guy is on the loose.

We will not see martial law implemented. The only competent terrorists are either

dead or captured. It's over.

I think maybe people should consider looking at all this from a different point of view. Instead of debating whether or not we have entered a police state or if our government is running false flags, rather focus on whether or not our policies regarding the Middle East over the past decade are simply wrong. That way we can save people sensibilities.

If the attacks are genuine then we need to think long and hard as a people if rape and pillaging the Middle East is worth the reprocusions. If you say yes than shame on you. If no then it's time to pull our troops back and bring them home. If we stopped murding people with Shock-n-Awe and pay concessions to those we have wronged in the name of oil perhaps we my receive forgiveness.

Let go of the pride we have its ok we're human. We can't always be right and this mistake will have consequences for many years to come. If this is the next big move by the secret cobal to reach that ultimate control on its slaves I can assure you that it's full speed ahead for them. They know they can't sit on these actions, let things cool down before their next move. No they can't because they know too many of us know the truth. Each awakened soul equals one more freedom fighter. So now it's all or nothing for these clowns. Are you ready? You better be or sit down buckle up and enjoy the ride because "they" are and it's gonna be a bumpy.

You must of missed the portion that says that the Federal Government cannot interfere with state laws

You mean you haven't really studied it very much.

That's Ok, I can teach you all about it.

Supremacy Clause to the US Constitution

Article VI, Clause 2 of the United States Constitution, known as the Supremacy Clause, establishes the U.S. Constitution, federal statutes, and U.S. Treaties as "the supreme law of the land." The text provides that these are the highest form of law in the U.S. legal system, and mandates that all state judges must follow federal law when a conflict arises between federal law and either the state constitution or state law of any state.

You have been informed.
edit on 19-4-2013 by muzzleflash because: (no reason given)

And you must've missed the part that grants specific authority to the Federal govt, and states that ALL other powers are granted to the states or the people.

So the supremacy clause is ONLY in reference to powers specifically granted to the federal govt and restrictions placed by the constitution.

So states are not allowed to pass laws that violate LEGAL treaties, LEGAL federal statutes and anything that violates the COTUS.

All other things the states or the people are granted the authority to do and the Federal govt is specifically restricted from doing or overriding. So any Federal law that they is not within the specific powers granted to the federal govt is ILLEGAL and they cannot do.

Hold on... Every person at every level of govt takes an oath to support and defend the constitution. It's not just about being in court. Everyone who fails to support and defend the constitution is an enemy of the People of the United States of America. Anyone who willingly passes a law that is against the constitution is a traitor.

Well, you skipped a few steps there.

Anything unconstitutional falls flat on its face at the steps of the Supreme Court.

There is good reason we have 3 branches of government.

Well for all the people who believe the Boston strategy, I hope your records are pulled and you feel the force of what govt has in plan.

I am seeing a totally different picture here.

Far from the successful march towards a fascist state, I am seeing the opposite: a system that is falling apart and losing control of the situation. A system that is closer to totally unraveling and collapsing, along with society. Considering all the money thrown into government surveillance, DHS, anti-terrorism, ect, they did not get even wind of the bombings, and it took them about 4 days to find these guys, despite the increase in technology, cameras, videos, ect since, say, OKC and 9/11, both events where suspects were known and caught the same or next day (disregarding conspiracy implications of both events on this. Furthermore, it took them, after locating these guys, almost a whole day of a manhunt to capture the one at large. Utilizing 9000 law enforcement, plus the feds, plus....The National Guard. Within a tiny area.

Of course, I have been looking beyond Boston, and at the rest of the country. Explosion in Texas, OKC. Sinkhole swallows cars in Illinois. Someone sabotaging communications, attacking power plants in California. Gas leak at Texas airport. Ricin letters to political elites. Gun bill fails to pass. Internet surveillance bill that does. And a lot of other smaller, but interesting, things going on.

What do I see? Decaying, crumbling infrastructure that can no longer be maintained because there is no money left, no safety and oversight. Sequestration has had some very interesting consequences The delusion of security and safety that is unraveling. Authorities that are increasingly incapable of keeping things together, despite desperate attempts at control. And a disillusioned, overworked, stressed out, and increasingly discontent population that is seeing more and more their illusion of security and a brighter future crumbling. Economy that is worsening, unemployment rates creeping up. Frustration and hair triggers everywhere. Because reality is increasingly unavoidable. Even the distractions no longer work, fewer people can afford them. People are starting to snap. Rash actions, panicked buying behaviors.

If this week has shown us nothing, it is that the system is incapable keeping order, business as usual. And people are going to see this. How they will react, or what will happen next, remains to be seen. People could start becoming more desperate, more aggressive, sensing the urge to strike while the iron is hot. I'm sure the Powers that Be will certainly make a few last ditch efforts to try and clamp down, bring in new regs, rules, whatever. But I am not convinced they can even do it anymore. Things should get interesting over the next couple of years.

Apply simple logic my friends. See, historically the way to treat terrorists is to never give into their demands and never grant unreasonable publicity to them. This way there is no incentive to commit terrorism acts for political gain.

I'm British. Bypassing the current Boston situation I want to comment on what you posted above.

The IRA committed masses of terrorist acts in the UK and Sinn Fein cheerfully admitted it. Now they are part of the Irish govt.

Muslim bombers took out four trains just before an election and managed to affect the way the populace voted and got them to pull out of Iraq.

So two instances where terrorism worked.

Terrorism exists. The bombs aren't all planted by your own govt. There are genuine nutters out there who think blowing up a few hundred people is worth it to get what they want..

Pretty sure that bombing you speak of was prefaced by yet another "drill" was it not? You know, never mind. I suppose it doesn't matter anymore.

So this is what we are presented I guess: Conspiracy Theorists are loony and radical. They said the boys were "conspiracy theorists". Well if that's the case then we have a big problem on our hands.

Self-realization of reality.

Stop them?

This is the most disturbing thing because I don't think anyone has a right to stop anyone else from having opinions or saying what they think.

But you favor that? I doubt it, I'm guessing you were being facetious and making a sarcastic remark, sorta.

It matters to me, all of it does.

If people don't realize how politics and government are actually operating today, and don't actually research history, they will never understand the point of this discussion.

So yes, the admission by the very head of the drill itself, they were having a drill mimicking the exact events in complete detail, is a massively important fact.

And the fact that no one ousted their government for these types of scams? It's unbelievable!!!
We are doomed to see a lot more of these types of things if we don't stop the culprits at their source.
