Yup I'd agree tropic got it. I didn't notice the matted legs until I looked closer. Good find.

I think the important question should be - Which way was it going! Cos I dont think I'd want those things crawling up out of my loo.

If it didn't come up, the other option is it came out his butt. I think I'd take door number 1.

It's an alien organism, capable of crawling up your butt, attaching itself to any of your internal organs to produce a chemical to override your normal senses. At which point you will be an unwilling participant in any mind control conspiracy that comes along....or am I in the twilight zone?

Same.
It looks like one to me.

I've seen them wet from spray and they turn matted and weird.

Looks like a species of insect larvae or nymph, possibly a type of mosquito larvae.

Along with drain fly larvae (actually a kind of moth) they are known to appear in toilets and also to occasionally emerge from taps into baths and sinks.

Not sure what exact species (250 types in the US alone), but here are some common examples:

That's a centipede (Scutigera coleoptrata), silverfish look completely different. I do think it is a silverfish though (what they really look like).

Oh man, if your friend found that in their toilet then I think he/she needs to start eating better...

Haha but all joking aside, I would be terrified to open the lid and see something like that floating around... Thanks for the nightmares.

Dead and floating, maybe a cricket that fell in and got bloated from absorbing a lot of water? My best real guess..
I've done plenty of fishing using crickets and that, my friend, is not a cricket.
