To be perfectly honest - and I do not mean to offend anybody or be rude - but these type of attacks occur *everyday* in Iraq and Afghanistan and Pakistan and dozens die because of it.

True, and this isn't even that big.

2 confirmed dead. CNN. 22 injured.

Yes, but the United States has citizens that pay taxes into the most funded military into the world. So the reaction of those citizens is important and anything that happens here has a global impact.

Two buildings went down 12 year ago and it has dramatically changed the face of the planet.

This looks to be about the explosion locations

But this isn't one of those Countries. Stuff like this isn't commonplace, hence the news about it.

MY THEORY:

Why bomb a marathon, and why the Boston marathon, it's hardly the highest profile event...

Boston was hugely significant and symbolic in the revolution, the tea party took place here.

I'm sorry to say but I think it's home grown US "freedom fighters" making a statement against a corrupt government and what they see as the removal of rights, possibly gun issue related.

Why on earth anyone would want to blow up innocent civilians is beyond me, but to me this is the most logical motivator for this heinous act.

I doubt it's Korea or Islamic terrorists.

There was in excess of 400 guardsman providing security.

From all the explosive smoke, that was a good sized POPPER.

I say lob their heads off with a dull butter knife, no matter who did it.

I'm just throwing this out there, please don't flame me too hard. Anyone else think its kinda strange that some of the first responders were dressed in fatigues? Maybe national guard. I don't know. This whole thing just makes me nervous.

No, don't buy it. This isn't NK's MO - if they ever had one. NK makes trouble in it's own neighborhood - it doesn't do terrorist attacks!" In fact, does NK conduct terrorist attacks in South Korea? No, the worst they do is assassinate dissidents who have fled to SK. But they don't bomb in SK. So how on Earth could they do so in the US??

The urge to cry is almost overwhelming.

This is not what we have worked and lived for. This is not what so many fought and died for. This is not what the Founding Fathers foresaw for this nation.

The anger builds because our chances of knowing exactly where this came from is slim at best. Our choices will be limited to uniting or standing to the side.

So familiar... so familiar.

I think that it's to show that whomever did this can strike at any time. Look at how many people were there and nobody saw anything suspicious.

I don't think North Korea would waste their first attack on a marathon. Dont get me wrong this is horrible, but not big enough for a guy with little guy syndrom.

Exactly. This is major news around the world because it happened in the USA. When it happens regurlarly in some countries it doesn't even make the news in the USA...

I'm just joining the party late here... The news here is just saying other suspect packages and i quote 'unexploded devices' in other part of Boston have been found.

So people on here think this is a false flag? Time will tell but why now? why Boston? I'm not American so I dont know enough about this, but what's the general feel, any one got an angle on this?

No, it's common place to happen in those places but not in the U.S. hence the news. It's not news just because it happened in the U.S.

CNN said that as well, but said that it wasn't really from an official source. The person they are interviewing doesn't want to cause this a bombing or attack.
