Currently being reported there is a suspect, but no other details yet.

(CNN) -- Investigators believe they have identified a suspect in the Boston Marathon bombings, a source who has been briefed on the investigation told CNN's John King exclusively.

The breakthrough came from analysis of video from a department store near the site of the second explosion. Video from a Boston television station also contributed to the progress, said the source, who declined to be more specific but called it a significant development.

Arrest has been made reports CNN, so soon we'll know who did this, seems kinda quick if you ask me.

From a couple of different sources.

It looks like his buddy might be holding the backpack in the 2nd picture, you only see one strap though.

EDIT: I guess the other guy is holding a blue bag, so I guess that could be the strap I see.

Wow, these guys could be the suspects...they look a little shifty if you ask me.

The proximity to the three dead is pretty telling though too. (and his buddy has his own bag).

CNN confirmed the news at 1:45 p.m. local time when journalist John King said both a federal source and a Boston law enforcement source confirmed the news. Reporter Fran Townsend then added over the phone that “there is an arrest that has been made in the Boston bombing case based off of two independent videos.”

I found our two friends in a picture here shown about 1.5 hours before the bombing (confirmed by the marathon clock)

I circled them in green

They said the suspect was dark skinned, but this guy looks a little shifty too.

A suspect was arrested Wednesday in the Boston Marathon bombing case and was expected to appear shortly in federal court, the Associated Press reported.

The news agency said U.S. Marshals had taken the suspect to the courthouse in downtown Boston.

The AP report comes as several news sources said investigators have identified images of a suspect seen delivering one of the explosive devices that killed 3 people and injured more than 170 at the finish line of the marathon.

However, there were conflicting reports regarding the arrest, which CNN also reported. Sources tell USA TODAY and several other outlets that no arrest had yet taken place.

CNN's John King quotes the sources as saying that surveillance video from a nearby Lord &Taylor department store was key in the investigation. Television footage also played a role, CNN reports.

"The camera from Lord & Taylor is the best source of video so far," said Dot Joyce, a spokeswoman for Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino tells the Boston Globe. "All I know is that they are making progress."

I wonder if this is the pic they mention....

EDIT:: OK, sorry guys - I actually see that you're actually doing some real stuff. My apologies for my amusement at your expense. I think I'm going to get in on the investigation action too.

Haha, are you guys doing your own investigations through looking at pictures and stuff?

Methinks the Alphabet agencies are not only several steps ahead of you, but are thousands of light-years ahead of you and with much more resources and manpower and aren't sat behind their computers chatting on a forum

And seriously - the same guy in one image with a bag and then in another image without a bag? Maybe some people sometimes leave their bags in a safe place? Leave them with a friend? Maybe he was staying nearby? It could be anything.

Come on pseudo-detectives - get a grip! I highly doubt scouring through pictures is going to allow you to find out who the perpetrator is!

Sorry, I just found it funny!

Nah, reporting others' finds. Did you see the image of the guy possibly placing a bag, right where the explosion happened?

OMG, you see that black guy with the black hood - I think he's the bomber!

Quick - phone the CIA, tell them the ground-breaking discovery you've made in your investigations!

What's up with the two guys who look dressed the same and are carrying the same type of handle? Two different guys working together (and so dressed together - bizarrely) or photoshop?

I'm sure they looked at this picture over and over, its just so close to the people that sadly lost their lives.

And whatever is in that backpack sure is bulky.
