Ok so is this about the go ahead for installing cameras everywhere? With gold on a rapid decline time to invest in the companies who make the cameras...

If this is an aspect they marvel at (the plethora of cameras), I'd hardly say this is a glowing example of how well they work.

But, alas, as we are living the Orwellian Dream, this will lead to more cameras in more spaces and more cities, just the same. Down is up; right is left.

Or, it's homemade. It would explain the extreme smokiness, the low brisance ("pushing" power of the blast) and the lack of distance.

I think it was meant to be a celebratory BANG prank type thing to make people jump, but they didn't realize just how big a bang that would get and people were too close making the trashcan a flying chain saw for the 2 at point blank, 1 losing both his legs.

This looks more like an accident screwup... it was meant to be a prank but a guilty conscience will be rough to live with.

Did these pranksters accidentally load their celebratory BANG with ball bearings too? I'm sorry but I just cannot see this as anything other than a premeditated attack. Sophistication isn't required to cause terror.

Big Brother is watching you... Can't protest to it being done right, though. The way CCTV works in the UK is really something. If we had more cameras at least we wouldn't be searching frantically for a shot of the second explosion.

I install high end cameras for a living. Don't expect too much from them unless they have very expensive setups. Most retail does not spend much on their systems.

Before the bomb blast?

After looking over where Lenscrafters is and this photo, no that is not it. It isn't a Starbucks next to the Lenscrafters.

699 Boylston St, Boston, MA is Lenscrafters. That particular Starbucks is further down the road at 755 Boylston St, Boston, MA.

Claymore antipersonnel mines are loaded full of ball bearings that act as shrapnel during the explosion. Whoever made these bombs did their homework..

My writing is clear my Brother. This event didnt happen in 1970. This event happened within 10+ years of 9/11. Why did this happen now??

That was the question in my post. Smaller events would be a much easier target.

Thanks for the photo!

Edit, Ah, thanks - not a photo from moments before at all, but several hours beforehand. Removed my comments, no longer valid.

Please, someone tell me why they were announcing that everyone "remain calm" at the beginning and the ending of the race. Oh, that's right, because the police were doing controlled explosion drills. Reminds me of that time when we were doing the aviation drills and meanwhile we have Boeing's flying into buildings. No, but seriously, only a coincidence.

Very simple. Guaranteed TV coverage.

1> Of course there were bomb dogs at the scene, probably have been there all day. 2> Of course people were on the roofs of buildings, looking and watching. 3> Today is a holiday in Mass. and it's called Patriots day. 4> Now that they are discussing trying to take our guns (AR-15's etc.) domestic terrorism is an even greater possibility. There are some pretty pissed off people in this country. 5> Don't be so quick to blame the Govt. for this. 5> These were not major explosives being used, the explosions did not take down any buildings. More than likely they were some type of pipe bomb (Atlanta Olympics). It appears that they were dropped in a trash can as if someone was throwing away trash, A news report said that it was believed they were set off by a cellphone trigger. While some of this is speculation. The story so far fits the events.

Yeah, I was just pointing out that it isn't the pre-photo of the scene. It is about a block/block and a half up the street (or as they state about 100 yards from the finish line. )

There is only one Lenscrafters (right near the finish line obviously) on the street and several Starbucks (one, I pointed out before the finish line and another that is after the finish line), but the one that matches that photo is the one I pointed out.

ETA: Would have been close to the 2nd bomb if we can get photos of that area, but most everything is coming out of the first bomb.

Where is a DHS statement from all of this? Or are they too busy building a new taxpayer-funded $4 billion headquarters?

So do you guys think this will be blamed on Iran, North Korea, or right wing extremists? I'm leaning toward the latter.

To those asking about the dogs, I'm sort of boggled by the logic. It reminds me of those who asked "Why didn't we shoot down those passenger airliners in time?" I even ran into someone around that time that was upset we didn't shoot them down with a ground based missile or laser from space. They weren't kidding, and I was shocked at their ignorance and misguided faith in the capabilities of our governments (local & federal).

As much as we want to think our government is all knowing, they are not, even though they would like us to think they are. In fact, they are quite inefficient, as evidenced by their philosophy of thinking spending more on a problem will fix it.

Most the people at the finish line probably didn't come within a hundred yards of a bomb sniffing dog prior to the blast. Do we even know there were any dogs at the event? Hell, how many dogs did you see afterwards while men in bomb suits searched for another bomb. If a dfog was onsite don't you think their nose would have been put to use? I haven't seen any dogs in any video or picture.

I'm beginning to think that the gubmint exploitation of this event won't be about cameras on every street corner or gun confiscation; but about having police dogs everywhere. Laugh, but remember, a dog has just as much search and seizure authority against you as a judge writing the search warrant. If a police dog wags his tail at your house, car, or person you get searched. Resist or ask for any attorney, and you immediately face a charge of Obstruction of Justice. How we ever replaced a writ from a judge with the bark of a dog is beyond me, but we did, and it's undeniable that's where we are as a society

Note, I do NOT think the government was in ANY way involved with this, but as sure as the sun will rise tomorrow morning they will exploit this event to lessen your liberties even more. Just like Obama (NDAA), Bush (Patriot Act), Clinton ("Assault" Weapon Ban), and Reagan (The Martial Laws & EPA).

All that said, today's event was terribly horrific. And who ever did this, (as labelled by the media as a redneck, jihadist, anarchist or occupier) is simply a crazy person that should be sent into the ground (if they are not already) as well as anyone who helped. ANd the people who didn't do this, shouldn't be punished with more loss of liberty. Sadly though, while I can see justice coming to the men/women who did this, I can also see more injustice coming to us who didn't.

Sigh. Rant over.

Natural News inaccurately reported that there was a bomb Squad “Drill” going on based on tweets from the Boston Globe:
www.naturalnews.com...

What those Tweets are really about is the Bomb Squad detonating the two unexploded devices in a “Controlled explosion” hours later.
