No, they are, and this is one of the reason why they are no longer a super power.

Um.. what?

The U.S. is really the ONLY superpower right now. What in the world are you talking about? A superpower can influence the global, militarily and financially (and politically and culturally). You need look no further than our last financial crises to realize that the U.S. is a superpower. It sent powerful ripples across the globe. Only a superpower nation could accomplish such a feat, as unhappy an event as it was.

China, India, Russia, etc.. might end up being superpowers, China being the foremost imo. To say that the U.S. is not a superpower is ludicrous and ignorant. Of course, there is no lack of hate for the U.S. on these boards, even by supposed Americans, so it's no surprise to see another person trying to knock the U.S. down pegs. It's a standard practice around here now.

Korea has no plans of war unless they are preparing for war, which they are not. Moving a couple missiles around a war does not make. If they start moving and mobilizing their army, evacuating their own citizens, and STOP announcing what they are planning, then you can be worried.

NK has many underground installations, this is why we don't really know what they have. Is it possible to launch something from one of these underground complexes?

The most likely scenario....they have train tracks that connect many of these. Often, they have anti-aircraft defenses on these, so they can move them around, cover more area with less weapons. No reason to think they couldn't do this with a missile launcher either (Russia has them, the Chinese may have them as well, but I know less about them), but again, the threat is only a missile threat. So far, we have no evidence they can weaponize a nuclear warhead small enough to go in a missile.

Koreans seem to be intelligent and enterprising people. They may have developed a miniaturized warhead for their missiles.

We should not out dismiss this possibility.

The only realistic assumption is NK can hit SK and Japan with it. They cannot hit any part of US yet.

Well yes. It is the biggest hegemony today. The only others who had massive grand plans for worldwide hegemony were...why, it was Nazi Germany...

Seems Un does not have firm grip on his military.

He can still lob missiles; or order "loyal" units to shell South Korea.

NK is close to collapse as a political entity.

Maybe so. But they're taking someone else down with it.

This is my take on the situation at the moment.

When NK say they can hit the United States then they could do it im many ways either a dirty nuclear suitcase bomb smugled into the US via there cunning smuggling ways which they have many (so I have read and heard) or they could launch a balistic missile into South Korea and target all of the US bases in the south so technically they are hitting American soil and hitting American infrastructure.

If they try that then it is the end for Kim and his regime so he could be either bluffing? Is he a poker player? Or he could be going through massive political internal problems and power struggle that the only way out is a 'death by cop' action by North Korea and that is a very high chance of happening.

It is not US. Call it "Western" elite. The real superpower that even over-rides US Government is a secretive "Western elite" that may include the British Monarchy, Rothschilds, and other powerful American and European entities.

Bankers do not rule. Banks are means to an end - concentration of financial power in elite's hands.

This elite controls big businesses, banks, media organizations etc., and uses national armies as enforcers.

China may have acquiesced or supported the objectives of this elite, and maybe doing so now.

North Korea is not powerful enough to challenge the current dominant powers. It will go the way of Libya most likely.

I supose that could be the real aim of NK to rattle that elite group and make them think. They are controlling is country with there sanctions so they are making them selves look strong and showing the world that they can also control the world and there armys by doing these blusturus provications.

It may workout as a tactical win for north korea and other countries as whilst the DPRK are talking the talk other countries are walking the walk behing the western elites back

It will be leaked anyways in the coming days anyway but I can guarantee you NK not only has a warhead miniaturized but they can deliver long range as accurate as anything 2 decades back. That's accurate & long range enough.

However, their FUEL is the problem. They have problems with the advanced chemistry of propellant on their medium & long range devices.

Well someone I know in the Navy posted today that they were being deployed tonight (carrier). Said it was a 'secret', but that anyone reading the news would be able to figure it out.

I live in the PNW (washington State), near military bases. There was a whole lotta action in the air last week...including f-16 and bombers. I believe there has been movement by the US military in that direction (NK) for awhile now, and again today another push. SO...irregardless of what YOU think, this is real. Our military is mobilizing along with Japan and China. Doesn't get much more real than THAT.

Nobody wins by bluster. Real capability is required.

North Korea and Iran are next.

Question is - what after that?

Excuse me my humble question...why the hell everytime i come here to ATS, there is another new Thread on NK, even without anything happening at all..!?

I presume that IF (and i really believe/hope not) anything really happens, this board will have around 300 new NK Threads Per Day...no?

Tanx.

The problem we have with this situation is that NK has not made apparent the trajectory of these particular launches. This is pretty much the reason there is enough fire power in the region to turn NK into a sheet of glass.

Lets keep in mind that NK is actually smaller than the State of Mississippi in the US.
