Hoo-bleedin'-ray! About time this vile woman fed the worms.

"Hey ho, the witch is dead, the witch is dead, hey ho....."

From humble shopkeeper to runaway blinkered masochist with no concept of what was really outside her shop door.

No sympathy here. In fact I feel like raising a glass to celebrate this long awaited occasion.

Now if only all the other parasites would join her.

Her policies effected my family for the worse...she sold us out.
But she was an old lady who died and at least she kicked someones butt who deserved kicking at the time.
I respect her but do not think she did the UK too much good.
She changed the world If we like it or not.

Disgusting, odious, obstinate, arrogant, selfish. crass, callous, cruel.....I will not miss her for a millisecond .

I find the cross party eulogies singing her praises appallingly hypocritical and sanctimonious - making me feel rather nauseous actually. They tell us that she was divisive and that the country wouldn't be the same today without her policies. Policies of selling/ privatising national assets - closing major industries - industries that were NEVER replaced with anything of substance. I wonder how good it could have been here today if everything good about us wasn't owned by foreign companies?

Yes this country was in trouble when she was brought to power (winter of discontent) but look what the solution was - nigh on civil war....15% interest rates.....eye watering unemployment....the loss of almost all workers rights.....entire communities stuck on the dole......ghostly town centres.....and through it all the Lady was not for turning. (Although hubby Dennis did make rather a lot of dosh as a result of her policies).

And then of course we had the right to buy schemes that led directly to the inflated prices and housing crisis we are living with right now. All those proud new council home owners thought they were now home owners and helped keep voting the woman back in uurrgh.

No I will not be mourning her passing. She did not have my respect in life and she will not have it in death.

You have no idea as to how Thatcher destroyed community life in the poor northern working class towns and cities....just because It wasn't profitable

The woman was vile and requires no respect!

[snip]

How do you sustain a unsustainable industry and a community dependent upon it indefinitely?

Sadly you can't,strong leaders make tough unpopular decisions and she was one like her or not.

I grew up in what you call Thatcher Britain, and it was many times better than living in the Labour Britain that preceded.

I remember have to get up cold in the morning because we had no power, because the unions called the shots and the Labour Government was too weak to stand up and be counted.

I remember family being laid off because of the three day week and the strikes at British Leyland. Those striking at least got some help from their union. What the small businesses who were 3, 4, 5 layers down the supply chain to the British Leyland? There was nothing but hardship and anger at the failure of the labour Government to defend the rights of many non union workers.

Thatcher inherited a mess from the preceding Labour Government. It seems that many of those negative to Thatcher have very short memories. And remember, she was elected by the people.

Once Thatcher came to power and vastly reduced the power of the unions, life for me and my family improved greatly. Family were able to work and get rewarded. They worked hard and because they got to see the rewards of their hard work, my life was a little easier.

As far as I am concerned, in my life time, British was never as influential as when Thatcher was in charge with a firm hand.

We can argue all day about the rights and wrongs with every different decision she made. But the legacy left behind is undoubtedly a greater country that gave us 20 years of growth and prosperity during 90s and 00s.

No - credit cards gave us growth - and the payback has just begun. We were living in a fool's paradise - not a booming economy.

Good riddance....say hello to Satan.
She destroyed the Steel Industry.
She destroyed the Ship building Industry.
She destroyed the Coal Industry.
She destroyed the Car Industry.
She destroyed the Engineering Industry.
She destroyed manufacturing and gave us the Banking Industry we have today.
She sold off state owned Utilities to her Rich friends.
She sold off Council housing and never replaced what was sold.
She gave us the insidious characters we have today in the shape of Cameron/Osbourne and Duncan-Smith, who follow her lead in destroying the Working class.
Bye Bye Maggie.....hopefully an Asteroid will crash to Earth on top of Cameron/Osbourne/Duncan-Smith.

I know this is off topic to a degree, but what the heck..........

and just why was the 3 day week introduced? Because of strikes by the miners who wanted to bring down the Tory Government of the day, so found reason to strike. With their strike, coal was in limited supply so business was limited to a 3 day working week to preserve out coal supplies.

When a Prime Minister's exit from office is hastened because the people are rioting in the streets, what kind of legacy is that?

What that tells me is Labour,Tories and Liberal Democrats are all rotten apples from the same barrow.
Never voted for any of them, never will.
The sooner the poor fools who consider them a choice catch on the better.

I can understand disliking, disagreeing, being glad a person isnt in power, etc.. but some of the childish and downright vile hate filled sentiments of some on here are surely telling of the mentality of many. Hateful hateful people.Paying attention to who some of you demonize and who you in the next breath praise... its very ironic.

Just posted this another thread;

Despised Thatcher and her domestic policies, always thought I'd be the first to join the party come the time but I've got to say I'm finding it hard to celebrate anyone dying.

Sure she caused untold misery and suffering to millions but her dying won't change anything - we still have to live with the consequences of her policies now and I'd rather focus my attention on getting rid of the shower of #e that govern us now, and those who seek to govern us.

I think it's hard for non-UK members to understand the passion and ferocity of feelings Thatcher stirs up in Brits, both those who hold her in high regard and those of us who don't - there is very little middle ground.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

Wish there was only one thread - it get's confusing sometimes knowing which one to post in.

You want to live in the ruptured economy that Britain had in the 70's
You want to be a slave to the unions which is where we were in the 70's

You really have no idea do you

At least one of Thatcher's number one fans is already dead. I hope she's burning right beside him.
www.telegraph.co.uk...

National Archives files show that Savile met with Mrs Thatcher at both Downing Street and Chequers in his successful attempts to secure a £500,000 donation from the government for the rebuilding of Stoke Mandeville Hospital.

The hospital is only three miles from the Prime Minister's official residence, Chequers, and Savile became a friend of Mrs Thatcher. The pair reportedly spent New Year's Eve together 11 years in a row.

Can we say: Power hungry sicko psychopaths?!

A lot of the working class she supposedly persecuted, are only home owners because of her right to buy policy.
Hypocritical for a lot of them to complain.

However there's something a little sick about people celebrating her death. Ghoulish.

Ding dong the witch is dead

considering how only half the country like her I think she should be given only half a state funeral.
for the other half she should be dumped in an incinerator in full view of the public, just to make sure she really is dead.

now if only tony blair would follow her act.

I thought that the Tories were cutting back on welfare payments?

Yet we as a country are about to fork out 3 million pound to bury her!! Surely she has enough in her estate to pay for her own funeral?

Many families will be visiting food banks for handouts, this is the legacy of Thatcherism yet we are meant to be celebrating her life? You couldn't make it up!!!
