Hmm. Can anyone sympathize with the corrupt police in Mexico? I sort of can, simply because many of them are just preserving their self-interests and
their families. The country is ruled by the drug cartels, and the police and many government officials have the choice of having an assassination
contract put out on them, or accepting a bribe. The cartels would rather bribe them, because it is easier for them, but they will not hesitate to kill
an official or police officer.
So why the noble thing is to stand up to the cartels, there is the chance of dying. And the chance of being murdered are much higher than say in the
US. Every single day multiple people are assassinated on the streets or in their homes, by the cartels. Every single day. Think about that. They are
rich and powerful, and can rival the actual government militarily. The choice is a difficult one for those officials in Mexico.
