IMPORTANT: US General asks Marines to "Save every bullet, every gallon of Gas"

Well if it's because of a lack of funds and the bank is running dry perhaps we citizens should withhold our taxes for a little while and make em sweat. Unfortunately that would only do harm most likely to the men and women in uniform and not the intended targets in Washington. But might be the perfect time for such a thing to happen. food for thought.

Lot of mismanagement. But numbers doesn't mean a thing. Cost of labor and technology in general is much much higher in US thus the big numbers in comparison to other countries. Its how much valuable, effective and long lasting goods & services the money buys that should be analyzed.

I joined the Army in the tail end of the Clinton era. During some of the darker Clinton days there wasn't enough fuel for a road march using the vehicles.

I think the general is referring to a future that is less abundant in terms of excess for training and readiness.

I agree.

Being that the Marines fall under the Dept of the Navy, they are the least financed of any of the services and normally have to do more with less. The General is emphasizing not to be wasteful with limited resources.
