I doubt the OP's "I have nothing against" statement signifies a hidden revulsion towards the individuals themselves. The disclaimer's presence is meant to deflect any knee-jerk misconceptions that she was referring to the individuals and not just the concept of same-sex attraction, as she's tried to clarify.

Sadly, it is only partially effective. People will slither in by any crevice they can find.
