all guns are killing machines.

I have to disagree with that a gun can be used for anything, and it primarliy depends on where the user is aiming.

Took me some time but after reading the thread in its entirety I have nothing but praise for our American Neighbours with the balls to stand fast for what is right and what will prevent the demise of the USA.

Good for you all there and keep you back stiff.

That is one thing I do kind of find funny the vilification of the NRA and the "feinsteins" created them in the first place.

When the US actually had a second amendment, and not the bastardization we all know today the NRA's never existed.

Ponder that.

wish you guys would be this jazzed about more important issues like getting us off fiat currency and
paying federal taxes. Some of you react like this was some major victory for freedom and democracy.

I guess it did serve as a distraction and it has appeased many of you for the time being. Enjoy this hollow victory.

Love the photo of Feinstein trying to pull her face off her skull.

It looks like they ran out of glue when they put it back on the last time.
It's all saggy and baggy and what not.
I would think that she could afford a better plastic surgeon.

IMO It looks like the bipartisan strategic planning on this issue worked perfectly for the weapons manufacturers.

Result: more weapons and ammo sold while no drastic change to the Assault Weapons Ban . It appears that the gun manufacturing lobbying industry appear to have gotten a double win.

LOL. That's a tad bit silly. Those manufacturers exist because of the fact that many, many people demand their products. It was not a victory for lobbyists, it was a victory for millions of Americans who want to be free to choose what they own for themselves.

Why is that silly? Do you think that Republicans and Democrats don't work together behind doors on behalf of the lobbying industry? Did the law pass? was it ever really going to pass? Is this the first time that fear mongering been used with threatening to weapons?

Its just another coincidence where the lobbying industry benefited twice: increase of sales (thanks to the help of tax payers money as well) and no ban.

Who was going to lose if the ban passed besides the people? A large lobbying industry would have lost which is not likely to happen, hence I never thought this bill was ever going to pass.

I'm not saying that their isn't a demand for their product and I'm for gun ownership. However, following the money trail it never made any sense to me that this would pass.

It didn't pass because of secret lobbying. It did not pass because people like Harry Reid saw that he would lose votes if it did. People are more into sport utility rifles than ever before and they made a very large stink about this. This was a grassroots campaign.

Every victory is an important one. The US did not get this way overnight--it was step by step and it will not get back overnight--it will be step by step.If you only count everything you want all at once as a win, you will never win.

Any weapon ( firearm ) I can be issued and made to carry in to battle to defend my country. I have a right to own in my home.

And nothing short of that will suffice.

No, thank the NRA for making sure people senators aren't going to vote without influence. After all, some of them wouldn't hold their posts without their support. Laughable, absolutely laughable. Next time you think another lobbying group has stopped a congressional vote taking place - one that you believe in, remember this moment.

I meant more in design and function. Every gun has the capacity to kill . . . regardless, of caliber/make/model/class. But yes, intent and what you hit determine whether they actually "kill".

Amen brother brother man.

Did I just read a couple posts back that people should be allowed to own anything that they could take into battle? Jets, tanks, bombers? drones?

nope, he clarified with something that can be carried and issued to him...read it wrong.

This is good news. These emotionally fueled responses to try to cram more restrictions on law abiding people will probably continue though. Keep in mind that facts are lost on people like the Senator. It doesn't matter that most gun violence is commited with a hand gun, only that the rifle looks scary so it should be banned.

Newton gun applications are going up and up.....

Yes. It would have been heroic for Feinstein to let the survivors of Sandy Hook not have to listen to her voice constantly screaming a reminder of a tragic event.

But that's not the way politicians like Feinstein operate. Never let a good crises go to waste even if it tramples on the psyches of the victims.

Then again, it's politicians like Feinstein and Pelosi who keep us Americans on our toes preserving the Constitution....what is it about female politicians from California? We could lump Barbara Boxer in there with them.

Many citizens of Newton have spoken: they preserve and deserve their right to defend their families and themselves. They've learned the hard way that it's a cruel and dangerous world out there. Taking the 'Neville Chamberlain' route of trusting madmen does not answer the conundrum of dealing with dangers in life.

Well, we all watched as socialists walked down the Yellow Brick road to Utopia with their ideas that exposing a soft underbelly will deter the madmen from taking lives.

Hey, it's politicians like this who get us Americans off our complacent butts.

Meanwhile, the residents of Newton have spoken loud and clear.

Newtown sees jump in gun permit applications
By JOHN CHRISTOFFERSEN | Associated Press – 1 hr 7 mins ago...
.
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Applications for gun permits have jumped in Newtown since the Sandy Hook Elementary School massacre, which sparked a renewed debate about stricter gun control laws and a surge in gun sales around the country due to worries about new limits.

Newtown in recent years has issued about 130 gun permits annually. Police say the town received 79 permit applications in the three months since the Dec. 14 massacre, well over double the normal pace.

"A good percentage of people are making it clear they think their rights are going to be taken away," said Robert Berkins, records manager for Newtown police.

Yes . . . an article from a country that has outlawed firearms should surely be taken as an unbiased source. If those polls were truly accurate about the "majority" of Americans supporting a "ban", there would be no shortage of firearms or ammo. Politcal polls aside, the "majority" of Americans have spoken with their wallets ever since it was shown to be one of Obama's goals (to ban certain classes of firearms) during his first term.

That was from 2009 . . . well, they thought the "time was right", but they still don't have enough support. And based upon new gun owners since December, they actually are falling further behind.

THE DIANNE FEINSTEIN GUIDE TO 'NINE POINT PLAN OF HANDLING THE WITNESSING OF AN ASSAULT IN THE POLITICALLY CORRECT MANNER'

1) Name or Acknowledge the Offense - "Hey! That's a sexual assault!"

2) Identify the Obvious - "That person is attempting to rape that woman!"

3) Interrupt Behavior - "Hey rapist person! Would this be a good time to tell you that I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico?""

4) Publicly Support Aggrieved Person - "Your hair looks amazing, victim person!!"

5) Use Body Language - "Do y'all know the Electric Slide? Come on - let's all do it!"

6) Carefully Use Humor - "Hey, did ya hear the one about the horse who walked into a bar, and the bartender saying, 'Why the long face, Sarah Jessica Parker?'"

7) Encourage Dialogue - "I want to get to know you guys. I brought the Book of Questions. Who's with me?"

8) Ease Strong Feelings - "There there, rapist person. Do you want a cookie?"

9) Call for Help - (Not offering commentary here because it's basically the only sensible thing in this list.)

Do you notice anything glaringly and obviously missing from this list?

Good point. I wont be carrying a gun to any school thats for sure.

Why not? Afraid of what you might do?
Don't trust yourself?

I have zero issue with legal gun owners carrying a firearm around the most prescious in our society.

Not at all. Afraid of scaring the kids to death. The kids who see nothing but death on tv, see 6 year olds shot to death and probably go to school a tiny bit more fearful than when you and I did. I dont feel like having one child see a gun in their school without knowing if its for protection or murder. Maybe that's why?
edit on 19-3-2013 by bknapple32 because: (no reason given)

Well... let me see....if the kid is able to ask the question whether it is for protection or murder, the ability to answer the question should make the answer obvious.

When I was in HS late '80's, we used to take guns to school and leave them in the parking lot unlocked in our trucks, then go hunting after school. So I don't see what the big deal is, with guns and schools, unless everybody in this country has been emasculated, then what is there to fear from a gun?, Nothing.

Nuts.
