I dont know how the future can be bright when there is no future for non-believers.

I believe Benjamin Franklin was an Atheist or Deist.. He had an amazing 'future'...
Those that do not believe still live by a code.. follow laws etc..

What people don't understand, scares them..

If it's not for you then cool, you make your own choices and hang out with whoever you feel comfortable most with. I respect that right for you as well

You are misinterpreting "future" good sir......

Sorry to hear that though......

Nope, to me, your comment is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Lack of faith in gods is not a religion, it is a social gathering of likeminded rational thinking people.

Celebrating life should be done on a daily basis. No need for any religion or group.
Just seems like sour grapes to me. They like all the aspects surrounding the religious belief, but the belief in itself.
Just shaking my head on this.

I sure can prove it......Just not at this second.....

Hit me up when you are begging to accept Jesus, I will be right by his side......

Yeah and by the way, I don't go to church, gatherings, meeting halls, organized religion, etc.....

You can do the same......But continue to be a rebel.......You have that right, misunderstood right, but a right nonetheless

very cringey, heard a few interviews with the people behind it, listened to radio phone in shows, and it is dominated by the minority establishment type in the UK- the chattering liberal "elite"

So, concerned about something that is born of good intentions which does not affect you at all?
Strange.

You have your eyes WIDE shut here.....

You are gathering to talk about a religious belief.....IE: Religion.....

Meeting to "discuss"......Open your freaking eyes!! Soon you will have dedicated places of "worship" and t-shirts for sale.....Guaranteed

Can't see the point in this - I like the place of worship I go to on Sundays - the pub.

I get to meet all sorts of people and have some cracking conversations - beats the dogmatic theist and atheist pompous ramblings hands down.

You can prove nothing and everyone including you knows that.
Enjoy the comfort of your blind faith though, I do not need such a crutch to get through life.
As I said, fairies, pixies, mermaids, etc are just dismissed as silly unprovable folklore akin to any religion.

A laff a day eh? "the future is bright for non-believers" Is that because Fire + Brimstone shine so punishingly bright and so very very hot?

I don't need the religious crutch I assume you refer to.

I shall just dismiss them as I would fairies, pixies, mermaids and the like

Yep, the common interest is celebrating life without fairytales.

Nope, to me, your comment is the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

You seem angry.

Of course, I'm sure you had all your anti-religious firepower ready to go at the creation of this thread! Calm down and go enjoy your social gathering with like-minded individuals. As long as you're happy with it then there's no reason to be so defensive.

Reminds me of the southpark episode where cartman goes to the future and the two societies are warring over which branch of Atheism is the correct one...

You know what's funny about your statement? I don't spend time in faith....

I already told you I don't go to church or any of that crap, it is a profitable (business) place and I don't like it.....

YOU are going to spend more time in "FAITH" than me......And I won't be the one crying to be taken into heaven when you are wrong......What if I am wrong? Oh yeah, nothing then......So be it

I also enjoy the pub.
The sunday assembly is interesting to me being amongst similar folk who think religious belief is as ridiculous as I do.

*Gotta catch my local shop before it closes now, be right back folks

Well not so, mermaids for example, are (meant to be)physical entities and as such have never been captured- the whole point about religion and faith is that it moves beyond the physical, so it isn't the same

We both basically "guess", and for me it seems nonsensical to think that the love for a child is just chemical reactions in someone's brain, or that the world, universe, life etc, the complexity, just "happened"

You may not believe it, but you are in no position to look down on others, you are just taking a guess in the purely physical existence

Many know me as being very vocal about religion and especially organized religion.

But...

This is just another form of organized religion IMO.

If you don't believe in a God, then what's the point of organizing like minded people to the cause? Looks more like a protest of religion than anything else. And isn't that the beginning of a movement?

In other words, why bother? I don't believe but I sure don't feel the need to swell the numbers. The whole desire of Atheism is "Leave me alone in my non-belief and I'll leave you alone in your belief" but now Atheists feel a need to be seen and heard?

Sounds like a new religion to me.

Peace
