Whatever it is, it seems to be focused upon the United States. The three guesses that work for me are:
1) China.
2) The Feds wanting it to look like China.
3) Kim Jung Un got a new, hyped up iPhone and is bored.

You really think ANYONE here gives a flip about GLP or that narcissistic buffoon who runs that circus? The more I read about that site being harassed the more I laugh hysterically. How are those ISP bans working for you now Trin?

Some conspiracy theories create serious risks. They do not merely undermine democratic debate; in extreme cases, they create or fuel violence. If government can dispel such theories, it should do so. One problem is that its efforts might be counterproductive, because efforts to rebut conspiracy theories also legitimate them. We have suggested, however, that government can minimize this effect by rebutting more rather than fewer theories, by enlisting independent groups to supply rebuttals, and by cognitive infiltration designed to break up the crippled epistemology of conspiracy- minded groups and informationally isolated social networks.

We're not on the SPLC watchlist. There is one mention of ATS on the SPLC site, and that's actually a "no, they're not full of whacko nutjobs" mention in the comments on one blog.
GLP Mods know who is doing it. The attackers have even threatened violence against the mods at GLP. GLP mods have contacted the FBI regarding the attacks already.

If it were the case that the perpetrators were known and reported to the FBI then how come the attacks are still going on almost one week later?
This is a sustained and planned operation. Whoever's behind it doesn't seem to be giving up anytime soon and the longer it rolls on the more interesting it becomes. Why is everyone still none the wiser about who they are? How come we haven't heard a 'mission statement' from the culprits? That's what normally happens - the attackers feel the need to broadcast an explanation somewhere on the internet (if only to gloat).
Amkon is gone, maybe for good - their web hosting company has suspended their account for 30 days and perhaps the same thing has happened to some of the other smaller websites. It's hard to see how they'd recover from this.
Even if it is some goon monkeying about in his bedroom that's responsible it's still a real eye-opener. If this is what an amateur can do without being detected and/or stopped then imagine what our respective governments could do. Why isn't this a bigger issue?
