Where was a candidate who stood a shot that offered us different. Was Romney going to anything different about the NDAA, ACTA all those other things you listed? No.

That’s weak!

What you said is no different than saying, “Sorry Mr. Police Officer, I had no choice but to rob this bank because the bank down the street was closed.”

If Romney was too close to the same, how about a vote for RP or better yet…Gary Johnson? Those guys didn’t offer more of the same!

I agree that the options for the last election weren’t the greatest but my point was – Why is anybody surprised NOW when Obama is merely doing the same crap he’s been doing.

I fail to see how Ron Paul's stance was 'schtick'. We're not going to like everything about any one candidate, just a fact of life, but when our country needed most a diminished federal government, fiscal responsibility, and recognition of civil liberties, he was the best there was.

Also, how can you cite the Bill of Rights on one hand and say you wished Obama would have used Executive Orders on the other? You may want to look a little deeper into executive orders. They are neither clearly defined nor do they support civil liberties and the original design of our government. Executive Orders are the fuzzy rationalized means that the executive branch has used to abuse the Constitution and Bill of Rights and bring us closer to tyranny.

Then don’t ask questions like the one below and act surprised when I respond…Good LORD!

You VOTED for one that was different, so why did you ask that question? Besides, I would have taken a Romney economy over an Obama economy any day! They're both neocons but at least we'd have jobs for the next 4 years!

Obama fits the description of a very clever scam artist.........some of us are especially susceptible to being scammed and when it happens we are unawares - why? Because those who have allowed the scam are spiritually weak and they have actually allowed the demon that's behind the scam to take control, intentionally surrendering their soul I might add. Plainly and simply stated ---> "its no more complex than that." The OP's sorrowful rant is a clear and unmistakable incidence of what has just been described.

Heff,

It’s not difficult to sense your disappointment in the words you have shared with all of us. I did not vote for McCain or Obama in 08 and I did not vote for Romney or Obama in 2012. I have my reasons and philosophies that are not compatible with their positions. Most of you that frequent the political discussions know where my heart and mind lie...freedom and personal responsibility.

But this is not about my political or personal philosophies.

As Beezer said, we have, in a sense, failed ourselves. We wanted to believe that with our Government, we had created a benevolent entity, a compassionate force for good, and instead, we have created Frankenstein’s monster…an abomination. We put our faith in the idea that those that chose to step forward and lead us or represent us could have nothing but our best interests at heart...and this, we have painfully come to realize, is just not the case.

There is a part of me that still holds out hope that our system can be corrected by the people…starting small at the community level and making changes from there on up. There is another part of me, however, that thinks it might be too late…that our apathy has gone on for far too long and there is nothing we can do now but watch it all fall apart.

Without a complete reboot, I just don’t see how to get rid of the entrenched corruption that has hijacked our country for the good of the few. Peace, freedom and prosperity that were once the American dream have become all but unattainable with the people that are in charge now. It will be only through an utter and complete ”cleaning out” can we hope to put things back on the right path…and I just don’t see enough people opening their eyes to see what must be done. Eventually, it will be impossible and it might already be.

And as far as a comment that Heff should have done this or that and not attacked or belittled the “other side”…I never observed Heff demeaning anyone for their political views. He either chose to agree or disagree and that is what we all do.

Be thee not deceived…there is no “other side” in the two party paradigm…red or blue…right wing or left wing…they are two wings of the same bird of prey.

The sooner people come to realize this, the better chance we have to make a change…however as that does not seem to be coming any time soon…they will continue to manipulate things so as eventually, it will be absolutely impossible to remove them from power.

Just my opinion and thanks for sharing your thoughts Heff.

H. Ross Perot sunk that ship when he had all of the momentum and chose to drop out of the race because the CIA was threatening his daughters cat - at least I think that was what he claimed.

i believe what happened there is that H.W. Bush had Perot injected with scopolamine and then, as what usually happens in these cases, he (ross) was made to have sex (of the most perverse kind) with either a man, or perhaps an animal, eat the excrement/ severed private parts of it, and then violently murder the supplied sex object, all while being recorded on video.

i don't think the powers in charge are going to take your little rant too seriously if you make light of the way they operate in the real world.
whatever your reasons are for that comment are up to you, but it is my assertion that if 'we' really want the powers to listen to us, we really need to up our game and cohesively confront them on their atrocities and the underlying reason for it.

The only hope America has is to obstruct further out of control spending and not let the debt get any larger. Vote in a Republican controlled House & Senate and defund Obamacare.

Maybe so but anyone who would use that as an excuse to cast a vote for the same crook they're bitching about (Obama) isn't being honest with themselves.

Anybody But Obama!

Regardless, I'm glad to see the hangover many Obama voters are experiencing.

In other words you're more interested in any point that makes you feel you're in the right? Instead of engaging in conversation you want to stick out your tongue and say I told you so? "Anybody but Obama" is quite a foolish if not dangerous mentality to have.

Those of us who voted against Obama are in the right!

I’m not sticking my tongue out. I asked a question and made a comment…

**Where were these people in November when we had a chance to do something about it?

**I’m glad they are finally coming around and realizing that Obama is bad for the country.

What’s to debate? The election is over.

Alright Heff, you are one of the best and brightest here.
I think you know how the country actually works.

Is Obama failing you or is the system?
Because Obama wanted to close Gitmo, yes?
Why didn't it close? Was it a bait and switch on Obama's part?
No. The Pentagon said "Nope". That's not because Obama is weak,
but because it's the way this country operates.

Obama wanted a single payer system, was that bait and switch ?
Nope, Obama like any man, wants his head still attached, so he gave when the giant
Insurance Corps said "Nope".

This is the way this country has ALWAYS worked.
It was MUCH worse under Bush. Drones hadn't come to fruition till the end of
BUSH'S reign, so it's not like Bush wouldn't have bombed the poop outta
every living thing that moved in the middle east. Oh wait he did.
They were just manned aerial vehicles.

Banking reform? You don't think he tried? Republicans even after the
banks caused a giant collapse would not approve any oversite .

The hatred by the right, FOX, Alex Jones, & The NRA is all the proof I need
that he's giving it his best although realistic shot. It would be wonderful if he could actually
implement a plan or two but obstruction is tougher than any president since
Lincoln has had to endure.

And you, of all people, riling up the already rampant hatred here for the president
isn't helping either. I know your discouraged but I place most of the blame where
it belongs. The insane Tea Party & FOx "News" and AM radio shock jocks.
Ps,
I still think your pretty cool.

You should have put your trust in the first and second amendment and voted with Freedom, instead of an individual that only has his agenda in mind.

Better stick to what George Washington did to keep his country out of the hands of the evil doers

you'll be ok, just get on the right side of it

Actually, they’re all just outraged at the direction he’s taking the country…as are most of us who don’t share his radical agenda.

Obstruction??

He got just about everything he wanted! Take your pick…they’re all BAD!

This is what confuses me! Above is his first term record in a nutshell! Who would vote for that?? Voting for that mess means you approve of that mess!! Is your commitment to your ideology so strong you're willing to look beyond that MESS of a first term and vote for him again anyway?? Shame on you!

The Republican House has sent plenty of Bills to the Senate to put on the floor for discussion. Budgets, etc. Harry Reid will not even present them to the Senate. It is the Democrats that refuse to even talk about compromise for the sake of the people. We are literally living under a dictatorship.

Pot meet kettle!

Obama’s sequester garbage could have been relatively painless and the GOP wanted him to have the authority to fix this mess. Obama and democrats refused!!

Today, Senate Republicans are pushing legislation that would hand Obama a scalpel rather than a meat cleaver. The Toomey-Inhofe alternative would give the president discretion to allocate the sequester’s cut largely as he sees fit.

The bottom line is that Republican bill makes the sequester easier to live with, and the White House doesn’t want the sequester to be easier to live with.
WaPo

Obama wants us to suffer and he wants the GOP to be blamed. He is, as always, playing dirty politics at our expense. He’s expecting all of us to drink his kool aid when the truth is in plain sight.

I don't think the far right is entirely to blame, and it's the "backers" of the Tea Party et al who hold the reins. It's greed and the love of money and power that are running this country. The politicians are mere 'helpers' to those who really run the place.
Obama thinks he can change that. I wish him luck.

Although the far right contributes greatly to the ignorance and division in this country, the left is playing the game of politics, too, but as you pointed out, this is the way the country runs.

I still think your pretty cool.

Agreed.

So people like me, a backer of the Tea Party, hold the reins?

Believe me when I say this; if the TP was calling the shots, you wouldn’t even know who John Boehner or Romney are!
