The suppression of data of this nature is done by everyone from Military Intel. to a very specific agency that has it's origins of creation in the late 1940's.

The reasoning of such squashing of data is multifaceted in everything from Public Panic, Resort and Tourism Business concerns, Religious Implications...and of course...the U.S. Navy's attempt to squash the repercusions of the use of such powerful sonar.

Honestly, the only valid reason for quashing I can see there is the religion aspect.

People wouldn't panic over mer people, nor would it ruin tourism, it would spur it on if anything. As for the Navy, powerful sonar already exists, studying mer people is unlikely to result in anything better, plus the fact that dolphins can outmatch us on that front anyway.

Speaking theologically, the existence and acceptance of evolution does not disprove religious doctrine, I don't know why so many theists and atheists get so worked up about it. I just don't understand why they don't understand, man.

IDK... I am a skeptic but I totally believe there are things out there that are yet to be discovered- Especially in Oceans and lakes, I think there ARE Sea Monsters and imagine that some of the sailors of old were giving true descriptions and not seeing mantarees (spelling?) or what not.

Plus its wonderful for the imagination to consider the possibilities- Humans think they know so much but in reality know very little. Even the panda Bear was considered a myth until last century and took many failed expeditions to find one.

As far as how the Faithful get worked up...TELL me about it.

I wrote a topic that is about how a person could believe in GOD as well as know Evolution to be a reality as it is possible a GOD used the Evolutionary process.

Talk about some that just can't accept ANYTHING that does not go by Biblical Dogma...

I have a sort of...connection to the Gratton Ct. Sub Base....where also lies Electric Boat...the company that makes the OHIO Class Sub...a very large...Boomer that used the Trident II Nuclear Mirved SLBM....Sub Launched Ballistic Missile.

I have talked to some Sub Commanders and been told...."You would not believe some of the BIOLOGICS that take an interest in our very big sub."

The spear tips are very good evidence by themselves as some are very inticatley carved coral pieces that once the composition of minerals was analyzed as far as percentage of specific minerals within the lymstone...it was possible to determine just where the coral reefs are located that these spears were made from.

Some are in the middle of no where and it is unlikely that someone would go there just to get a hunk of coral.

Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love the idea of strange things that modern science hasn't documented.

The spear tips that you speak of, do you have any supporting links or documentation? The only ones I have seen are hoaxes or on the show you link to.

Also split you mentioned sonar and am curious how it might relate.

Ex-sonar tech here is the reason for the curiosity.

Actually that might be kinda cool. I never felt so utterly ripped off as a kid. it was the first time I realized that you cannot believe the "box". I sat there, tears in my eyes, staring at a fish aquarium filled with a plastic castle and brine shrimp which were nearly microscopic. The spear tip issue is the Smoking Gun...although if DNA data is presented...that would be the hand that pulled the trigger.

There is some information about the spear tips as much of it has been squashed...but there is some on the web if you google it.

The spear tips have been found for thousands of years imbedded in various sea creatures and especially sharks. The design of such tips is a Anthropologists DREAM....and I will ask my...Friend...when I get a call back...if this is in the new data and if they know a good source but this person is not some researcher specific to this issue.

As far as my knowledge of this issue...it is more specific the the Squashed Data...rather than the issue itself as I know just about as much as most people with the exception of knowing the REALITY.

Since I know there are cave drawings of both sea humanoids and both together like this, it seems they may very well be real. I have read the direct accounts as written (translated) which spoke of the mer-folk my ship captain and they were not stupid people why would the have such detail.

The U.S. Navy is and has tested several special new forms of Sonar....some of which is completely different in method and form of standard radar.

One tested Sonar...is a Weapon.
