The Pope that replaces Benedict 16th will not have anything remotely connecting him to the Saint Malachy prophecy... the next Pope will become renown as a peace-maker and fashion compromises in all aspects of global affairs

then after a undetermined time... the next Pope will receive a mortal head wound and seem to be dead... but will survive and recover the fatal head wound (bullet? brain aneurism?)

the recovery will be a miracle... only then will the once dead Pope declare himself the 2nd Peter upon which the Church will be founded... he will be aided in this by the False Prophet

In scriptures the AntiChrist only 'Reveals' his true self in the 'Middle of the final Week'
that is why i remind all the readers/posters that it may be more than 3 1/2 years from the new Popes pontificate begins until he 'becomes' the Final Pope... or Peter the Roman ... which is after the head wound he receives & recovers from

we (erroneously) expect the Cardinals to elect a False-Pope/anti-christ character sometime between today & Easter Week of 2013.....

NO...

They will elect a wholesome, charismatic man who engineers peace accords all over the globe and becomes popular & acclaimed all over the Planet and heals the Paedophile crisis within the Roman Church,,,he even establishes a 2nd mini-Vatican in Jerusalem---- all before he gets a mortal wound from the Sword (meaning a fatal head wound from an act of violence)
rebukes his former Pope name & then declares himself the New Peter the Roman Pope, & declares himself the promised redeemer of the world

thank you

Well, the first day is out of the way and the Cardinals couldn't make their mind up. They blew black smoke out of their chimney, and probably are sleeping soundly now (the new pope among them, clutching his Teddy Bear - the six-year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Chesterio and Sophia Bear of Naples).

The next chance to see white smoke will be 5:30-6:00 tomorrow morning, Eastern time, if they elect the new Pope with the first vote. If it's the second morning vote, then it'll be around 7.

Then, the afternoon times are 12:30-1:00 and 2:00 EDT.

We've been wondering how they get the black and white smoke. I think they burn tires to get black smoke, and they burn doves to get the white smoke. That's what I think, anyway.

White smoke. They've got a new Pope.

I think the quick vote is a bad sign for progressives in the church ..probably same old same old...

None of us predicted that.

And he took the name Francis. Pope Francis I.

Couldn't have been more wrong.

Perhaps very deliberately not Peter in any names, and old enough to give way to another pope fairly soon and thus go beyond the Malachy prophecy.
A deliberate effort to prove Malachy wrong?

As a pedant, I find "the first" very irritating.
It isn't strictly necessary to call him "the first" until a second one comes along.
(Nobody talks about "King John the first" of England- he is simply "King John", because there hasn't been another one)
That's going to annoy me for the rest of his papacy.

As I said elsewhere .... I'm VERY HAPPY with the pick.

The Cardinals literally picked a pope from a place as far away from Rome as they could possibly get. And the pope took the name 'Francis' ... after the saint who, in his day, brought the Catholic church back from the brink of destruction. It was in dire condition due to corruption and Francis, through prayerful holiness, who got it back on course.

Excellent choice for pope ... excellent name (and therefore excellent direction for the church).

Definately hopeful ! He'll be cleaning house and getting back to the spiritual roots :up

Did anyone predict this? LoL?

I'm with you FF. It feels right. Though not the date.

Great, so the first Jesuit pope...the first pope swore to the destruction of protestant religion ....a pope highly likely to be demonically possessed through the degree initiations in the Jesuit order and the required "spiritual exercises" of Loyola.

and this insightful from an Argentinian ATSer:

Real fact from an Argentinian: He's a fascist right-wing SOB who openly supported the military dictatorship.
He openly opposed the public distribution of anticonceptives.
He openly opposed the Igualitarian Marriage Law (no surprise there)
He's the poster-boy of the elites
He persecuted those who embraced the theology of liberation
I could go on and on and on...

The election of this clown is a shame for any true christian...

I got it 1/2 right, saying that it would be a new name. And hinted at it being the name of a woman (Francis is quite womanly of a moniker). So I did pretty well (I had said a Canadian with a new name).

And what are the exercises of Layola? Do you mean Loyola? That's interesting, would like to hear more about these exercises. (EDIT: Here is a link to wikipedia's Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius of Loyola: en.wikipedia.org... )
