I'm leaning towards Scola for some reason.

I'm feeling more and more confident having Cardinal Angelo Scola as #1 on my short list.
And I'm feeling pretty sure about Pius XIII for the name.

(now watch .. I'll be waaaay off on both!
)

my bets also on Bertone. It has been since before Benedict stepped down as i knew it was going to be a short reign.

Bertone meets all the criteria to complete the prophecy more then any others.

as for the name, you are probably right on PIUS, and it would be im sure quite amusing for the embodiment of Satan to take that name im sure they would get a chuckle on the inside about it.

On the other hand, the prophecy of Malachy makes no mention of any sort of Satanic pope. Malachy indicates that the last pope will lead the church through tribulations, which, to me, implies a favorable leader. He doesn't seem to be the cause of the tribulations.

It's only people who have combined the prophecy of Malachy with (completely unrelated, not to mention misinterpreted) Biblical prophecy who think the last pope will be an Antichrist.

One thing I've learned over my many years, is that rarely is the "favorite" elected. The Holy Spirit works in mysterious ways, and I wouldn't even attempt to fathom who will be picked, but expect the unexpected. If white smoke does not come out after the first three rounds of votes, it will certainly be one of the least expected.

And the one who I feel will be the next Pope:

Tarcisio Berton

And... his middle name is Pietro.

Peter

Of Rome. An Italian. Fits the prophesy.

Indeed. I did mention that in my post.

LIGNET

A key source suggests that four cardinals, including two from Latin America, are the leading contenders. LIGNET identifies the front-runner to become the next pope, a cardinal who was close to John Paul II, trusted by Benedict, skilled in Vatican maneuvering, and who has been in the front lines dealing with the rise of radical Islam

Scola ... still going with him.

The Chair of Peter is now vacant. The Conclave will be starting early because the usual 'mourning period' has been waived. Look for the conclave to start as early as March 5th ... or at the very least some time next week. I am holding to my prediction that it'll be the Cardinal from Milan and he'll be Pius XIII

HERE WE GO ...

Canada is getting ready to celebrate the election of a Canuck. I thought this present pope is still pope until 8 p.m. Roma time? So he still sits on the throne, twiddling his thumbs for a few hours.

Not until 8 pm local time... 2 pm EST.
5 hours to go.

And then another few days until Bertone becomes the next Pope

Will it really happen that soon? Wow! I expected the process to take several weeks or even months

When a Pope dies, a period of 15-20 days is supposed to be observed for the purposes of gathering all the Cardinals to the Vatican. Since Benedict XVI is retiring, this gives them time to gather earlier, and therefore to convene the conclave earlier.

Regardless, it would never takes months, and there would really need to be a deadlock in the conclave for the election to last for weeks. Though, the longest conclave in history lasted almost 3 years...it would take incredible circumstances for anything of the sort to happen again. The conclave to elect Benedict XVI lasted only 2 days.

I think that Cardinal Peter Turkson is the odds on favorite since he is the most NWO connected person available and we all know how corrupted the Jesuits are...

If I was going to choose another it would be Cardinal Peter Erdo of Hungary.

Either way, I'm sure someone will make a connection with "Peter of Rome"
Can't wait..

I would vote for Grumpy Cat

One thing that I'm really noticing while watching all of this resignation stuff on tv:

Despite all of the vatican's billions of dollars, they don't seem to have access to good dentists. The teeth on all of these cardinals are horrendous!!! I have yet to see them showcase or interview one yet that has a normal looking set of choppers. Some of them could eat corn on the cob through a barbed-wire fence!

They make Grumpy Cat look like a model!

The first woman pope would be a good idea, they have have had centuries of gay male domination of the Papacy. I call for diversity.

The pope has to be an ordained priest.
Women are not allowed to be priests.

There are three levels of ordination in the Catholic Church. Deacon. Priest. Bishop.
(Being a cardinal is an honorarium position. )
Women are not allowed to be ordained.

The Pope has to be a Catholic male. He doesn't have to be an ordained priest, though priests are officially condoned for election, and cardinals in particular are traditionally the only ones considered since its the College of Cardinals that elects the new Pope.

Women, of course, are Scripturally excluded from leadership roles.
