i should probably mention that babylonian talmud plays a roll in this as well. talmud is like taking all the worst parts of the old testament, multiplying the extreme nature of those parts by many magnitudes and calling it a wisdom from god.

In order to understand what's going on, you have to read up on some history -- specifically the history of the Church and the Book of Revelation.

* The Book of Revelation was written before the Catholic Church existed.
* The Book of Revelation was written around the time of Nero, at the height of persecution of Early Christians.
* At the time, there were several Christian denominations, including the Gnostics and the Paulines (among many others.)
* The book was written at the height of the persecution of the Christian religion by the Roman Empire

The Church split into two (Eastern Orthodox and Roman Catholic) before the Middle Ages.

Your church library may have a library of books you can borrow that will go into the history of the persecutions as well as some reference books (like translations of Tacitus and so forth.)

The subject of the whore and the seven hills in Revelations would have to be interpreted using today's (end times) situations . Ultimately I would say the One World Religion will be located in Jerusalem because of the reverence given to that city because of Jesus . The One World Order will establish a world religion that will be against Jesus . A Consensus Religion that gives a false security .
A thing to consider is that there are 7 Continents and the whole world will be affected by the Great Harlot and the waters are "peoples" .
I am sure that as time progresses we will see the true meaning of this prophecy . Rome is nothing compared to the importance of Jerusalem . Christianity began even Jesus died . The Catholic church acquired one of many New Testament copies from those areas already practicing Christianity . They didn't have the only manuscript of the Gospel of Jesus . Our planet is the lady of the bible - the forementioned Harlot.

Jesus taught equality.
He taught that the peasant was as rich as a King - and a King was as poor as a peasant.
He taught that we are equal but that equality was shared with Women...both sexes in
the eyes of our maker are equal!
He taught that you did not need religion to be in contact with God.

His teachings brought him many followers in a very short time.
This new way to see God and mankind scared those in power.

I dont want to start a fight or a flame war, so I will not name names, but a couple of posters here need to do some historical research on the Bible. Namely how which books are in and which are out (The Eastern Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant sects each use a different Bible).

Research how we got the different Bibles, how who was chosen to do the deciding and when. Where and when it was done and why that was significant. (it is Book of Revelation, not Revelations. Minor point, I know)

And finally, look at the process of selecting writings for the Bible and who benefited. Pay particular attention to what was left out.

If I lay it all out then it just becomes my word amoung many. If you research it yourselves, it becomes your information.

Elijah was taken up on a fiery chariot . Has God used fiery chariots as his means to visit us ? Has Satan used such to deceive us ? Has Satan written many books to deceive us ? The Bible certainly is not one .
God did give us our manuel to live by , but so many look else where. Why?

The original "God Breathed" documents are mistranslated at best.

The bible holds over 2000 pages of which 20 % is God's spoken word.
Of that 20%, 80% of God's spoken word is in Genesis and Revelations.
20% of 2000 pages is 400.
80% of 400 leaves approximately 80 pages of what God taught for us to
find our way through life and back to him.
That leaves alot to be mistranslated, hidden and out right forged by those
wishing to keep mankind enslaved.

As an avid researcher of mankinds ancient history, I find many Sumerian stories
incorporated or written over throughout the Bible.

If you read a 'story/psalm' within the Bible and it doesn't directly lead back to
the Ten Commandments of God, then it is of my personal oppinion that the
particular passage in question needs intensive scrutinizing.

the great red dragon of revelation has multiple meanings. i think one of the meanings is derived from its description as to its appearance -- red+dragon, which could potentially mean clay+iron. the iron scales of a dragon's armor on the clay of a man's body. or rather, in the clay of a man's body. or even more specifically, a hybrid human-dragon (reptilian perhaps)
