thanks for replying, there is no intellectual dishonesty from me and i am engaging in a debate and exchange of ideas with you, there is no intent from me to aggravate you.
i have no need to ignore centuries of violent jihad as you put it, overall it's supposed outcome on my life has not been any greater than any other violent events or conflicts throughout history, and there are plenty of bad guys today and throughout history as we all know, all hate has a negative effect on how we live. i certainly do not see my way of life as being threatened by it as you do.
as is obvious, i disagree with your assertion that all muslims are in some way lying to us and seeking to destroy the us, the uk and so forth.

do you know any muslims personally, how much close contact do you have with them in your community, or work or relationships?

and how would you ban a belief etc? i asked the series of questions in my previous post as i dont see how you can do that in a free country without turning it into a police state and having grannies spying for government, a la china was famouisly claimed to in the 70's and 80's.

really, how would you ban a belief and enforce this?

Isnt it also a political ideaology? And a system of law. The law of the land is to trump any other laws under it.The people technically could be considered in sedition if they march on washington demanding special treatment over everyone else in the US. No group should have protected status like that.

Having read the article and the link to other articles, the following can be stated:

What laws have been violated by the US that is restricting the Islamic faith in the US? There is, after a careful search, no law that is restricting or prohibiting them from speaking, no laws that are preventing them from voting, no laws to prevent them from demonstrating, no laws that would impede their faith or their ability to be citizens of the USA in any way. In fact there really is no laws that are preventing them from being Islam that is on the books.

The USA,if anything, has been very giving and tolerant of the Islamic faith, and those who practice such. But what is seen is a lack of tolerance on the part of the Islamic faith. They want the rights and privledges of being a US citizen, yet fail to uphold those same very rights for others. If someone exercises their freedom of speech, and say speaks out against the Islamic faith, the entire Islamic world is up in arms. If they view something offensive, it is the radical few that gives the impression that the whole is like that. They often demand that we respect their rights, yet ignore the rights of others, even when reasonable accomidations are made, they still choose to demand more.

This will not go well if they proceed with this march for the reasons that is given, it will bring out the radicals on both sides of this issue and ultimately force a show down that will bennefit no one, but only used to fuel more rhetoric and propaganda for all involved.

well you could argue that any religion is a political ideology if that approach is taken, all of the main scriptures of the worlds major religions contain information/direction regarding law and how to deal with certain transgressions. most people pay them no heed, just like most muslims in the uk pay no heed to sharia law, certainly not in the way many posters seem to think. as i have stated earlier, i have known a great many muslims through my life and the vast majority were moderate, reasonable and inclusive folk who were as integrated as i am.

and the law of the land has no other laws under it to trump as far as i know, but maybe i misunderstand your point?

now i'm not actually in agreement with this march as it is described in the op and related article (and as alfie1 pointed out, it may not even be a credible story) as you will see if you care to read my posts on page 1..

the point of the article is that the march is to ask for parity/equality in regards to free speech which the organisers feel muslims are not getting, rather than special treatment, frankly i have no idea if they are recieving equal treatment or not on this issue and have not passed comment as such.
thats how i interpreted the article from the op anyway.. did you not?

you quoted a particular post of mine where i asked a poster if you can ban an idea and how... did you quote that because you have feeling/opinions on that?

Im not a Muslim so I can't say what its like to live here in the US of A and be looked at like a criminal. Im not saying all people are prejudice toward them or their faith but I do see it and hear it from my friends and family here and there. Im always a one who will take up for the underdog and never do I think its ok to taunt anyone regarding a difference.

This thread is basically asking for an opinion so I want to give mine yet will not argue with anyone over what I think or what another thinks. We can all agree to disagree if that be the case.

I welcome them to use their rights and march. I welcome them to demand more investigation into 9-11 as I do believe our Government had something to do with it.

I think its disgusting we all sat in front of the TV soon after watching Bush's "shock and awe" bomb on Iraq.

The march may indeed bring more hatred their way during and after the march. Im not sure why they want to "stir" the pot but here in America we still have free speech.

We get it ollncasino, you hate muslims, and want everyone else to as well. Duly noted, based upon the 10,000 or so posts you make in every thread that even remotely involves Islam.

To recognize that Islam is a threat to freedom of Speech in the West doesn't amount to a hatred of all Muslims.

Apparently you hate people who tell their kids that Santa and the Tooth fairy exist as well.

I couldn't agree more on this. Also, could they have chosen another day? ANY other day, perhaps? Can the United States not be permitted a single day of memorial for over 3,000 dead? I mean, the symbolism of this overwhelms any message they may have intended by it.

I can understand this point. I do understand it.... that day is a memorable one and brings back a lot of depressing memories and or feelings for all of us.

Again, I don't know what its like for the Muslim world or to be a Muslim/Islamic. I do think that for them it may indeed be the best day because their life changed dramatically as they are now seen as an enemy to the Christian especially. Many of my Christian friends speak ill wills on them and taunt them here in Tennessee and for that I am ashamed that I even know people who would do such a thing.

My heart goes out to all of the lives who were turned upside down that day.

Lots of Americans do believe their/our Government was responsible and because of that the hate for the Muslim has lessened.

There was no hate coming from that poster.

For the record I don't hate or dislike people who lie to their kids but I choose not to. My kids have always known there was not a santa or tooth fairy. It never hurt them to know the truth, however we would pretend that santa and the tooth fairy was me and their dad. They have always known why we celebrate Christmas. Its all about Jesus.

My kids are also taught not to hate the kids who come to school with a "scarf" on their heads. or dressed from head to toe in a robe. Im sure they laugh but hopefully they never make them feel odd and uncomfortable.

So we have a second poster who on the one hand refuses to allow their kids to enjoy Santa or the Tooth Fairy but who on the other hand jump to the defense of Islam.

What a barrel of laughs you two are.

Do you just not like Western culture much?

If you were able to point out my post in the Toothfairy thread where I expressed hate toward anyone perhaps your post to me in this thread would have merit. As this isn't possible perhaps you should consider lightening up towards Muslims. But we both know that isn't going to happen is it?

First of all, I don't have children.

Secondly, what does not hating muslims and not planning on teaching your children about Santa and the Tooth Fairy have to do with liking western culture? Is hating Islam supposed to be a part of western culture?

No... its called having a heart and trying to live by the golden rule. If I want my kids to be honest with me then why should I lie to them? They appreciate my honesty and for this reason they are honest teens who Im very proud of.

I jump to the defense of anyone who is being "hated" on. Has nothing to do with Western culture as I am a proud American who believes in freedom.

Do do realize that in a Muslim country I would end up in prison for criticizing Islam?

You do realize that? Right?

Wouldn't it be a good idea to research what you defend before you jump to its defense?

How about our soldiers urinating on dead muslim bodies and laughing/taking pictures?

How about the abuse (physical and sexual) that went on in Abu Ghraib?

Look, anyone can cherry pick horrific things in any ethnic group or culture.

You're a brand new member and furriously posting anti-Islamic rehtoric at quite an alarming rate. Judging by your join date (less than a month) and the frequency of your posts, one might conclude that multiple people are using your account for some agenda.

I think American Muslims have every right to protest and march.

I think American Muslims should have their rights protected just as much as every other American.

However, I think they are showing poor judgement and being dis-respectful for marching on Sept. 11th. Yes, not all muslims attacked us that day and we shouldn't blame all of them for Sept. 11th, but the attackers were Muslims and so out of respect these Muslims should understand how marching on DC on that day would be controversial.

If they truly want to protest for their rights, don't blatantly try to be controversial.
