My condolences to the gun owners in MA, I'm in NY and we just got the short end on this ourselves. Funny thing is the Albany County DA got himself caught in a bit of a fib about assault rifles.link
I listen to the news on the radio and they were livid over this flagrant lie! [and where I first heard this]

Like I said, this is the bleeding heart liberal welfare state. I live in Western Mass and trust me most of us are pro 2nd amendment and regaurd any laws against law biding citizens an infringement, but typical with most Monarchys the kings live in Boston and the servants live on the outskirts. Unfortunatly we have a huge Welfare population most are 2nd and 3rd generation. Ive seen this state go from a huge hi-tech industry rich area to a depressed hi crime hi welfare area and theyre building new low income houses to increase their population. Democrat,Republican it doesnt matter more welfare more taxes on whats left of the middle class. Now we are going to become criminals because of our hardware. What I find funny is Mass has a mandatory 1 year prison sentence for an unlicensed firearm . My buddy the cop tells me that this is the first thing they throw out of the court room because there is no rooms in the prisons! Now we are going to go to jail for 10yrs for having a 30round mag. I guess theyll be sending us to the FEMA camps.

I'd rather have state-wide gun laws than federal gun laws. States should be sovereign entities, if you are opposed to how your state is running things you should be able to weigh your options and move to a different state. Let the states that want gun laws have them, and let those that don't, well, don't.

This will be the first thread I've had to comment on all this gun crap.
These laws are insane to say the least.
Just voting those clowns out isn't good enough if you ask me they need removed immediately.

Actually there needs to be a whitehouse.gov poll and that would be to remove said state from union if they pass such laws.

Anyone storing all their weapons at a Gun shop might as well just give them up, because when you need them those gun shops will be closed up faster then you can get in your car.

•A complete ban on semi-automatic rifles with certain cosmetic features. (AR type rifles)

Here is an asinine one that should appal people whether or not they are in favour of gun laws. "Cosmetic features" should not even be in a debate when it comes to legalities on something like this. Seriously? Does this mean those stupid wings people put on ricer cars should be banned 'cause they make a 4 cylinder look like 'it goes real fast'? and that must mean it's used for illegal street racing...

Think about the logic for a second. That sets a precedent in stupidity.

•Mandatory insurance for all firearms owners. (see link for more info)

This... This just shows it's about the $$$. How much you want to bet the insurance industry was lobbying for this for the past few years?

Oh did I say insurance agency? I realize they aren't the only ones trying to suck blood from caring about the general public.

•Magazines containing more than 10 rounds, punishable by up to 10 years in jail.

I'm sure the prison lobbies were right beside them in their fight to pilfer everyone's pockets make people safe.

Thats the truth about the cosmetic features being banned. It really infuriates me. Now I have to remove a few features I added on my guns because they look evil. And now when holding and firing my weapon I can be less safe because I will have less control due to having to remove my forward grips. Epic facepalm if I ever saw one.

You can find the source of the information in this link.

I scanned over it quickly and it seemed to match. Although, did not go comprehensively into the background of the bill.

That's the most ridiculous car I've ever seen!

That's almost as ridiculous as these new proposed laws in MA.

The people who vote for crap like that deserve a good beating - as does the driver of that car.

All our gun crime in Massachusetts stems from the gang violence in downtown Boston, areas such as Roxbury, Mattapan and Dorchester keeps the police busy due to the heavy gang presence...and the bulk of these crimes are handgun related...and I would say that the majority of the guns are illegally owned seeing that the majority of the kids are under 18 using them.

Funny because the Governor not long ago back in December talked about how his mom owned a handgun because she was mugged when he was younger and didn't really have a stance on this..luckily crime has been down in the hoods as the murder rates have thankfully dropped due to getting more policemen and women to walk around in the troubled neighborhoods in addition to treating juvenile crime a bit differently on minor first time offenses..

socialist leaders

Sorry but when did Governor Patrick, or any Massachusetts mayor ever even discuss worker ownership of the means of production?

I too live in MA and these new laws seem ridiculous. I took my MA state firearm safety course last summer and when I brought back my $100 and completed form my local police dept. told me "Not to bother coming for the interview"

They wouldn't even take my paper work and money. The excuse they game me was "There is someone new coming to do all the interviews, and right now there is no one to do them. No one can access the files so don't even bother"

I did not bother asking questions or arguing and I have not re-applied and most likely will not because we are planning on moving. I should have expected this.

F**k the gun grabbers and their agenda.

I wrote my congressman last week and gave him the scenario of what the *TERM* GANG RAPE means....I don't think a little 7 round capacity pistol will help in that situation......

All the rules these states are making are going to make it easy for criminals, and make a state of more victims of rape, burglary and robbery....

The states are supposed to be sovereign insofar as the tenth amendment prescribes. Read it carefully:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

That says that unless the Constitution explicitly grants the federal government a certain power, and the Constitution prohibits the states from that power, it belongs to the People. The citizens.

As members of the union of states, the states agree to abide by the US Constitution which severely LIMITS federal power. It also restricts the states from usurping parts of it (Constitution) like the Second Amendment by specifically granting powers to the People. The People means all citizens. That definition is recognized in every Constitutional Amendment, but gun grabbers will try to tell you that "The People" has some different meaning in the Second Amendment.

The fact that there are ANY gun laws at all is a clear sign of tyranny. Put gun laws aside for a moment. Look at all the other ways the federal government has far overstepped its powers as prescribed in the Constitution. People should have been outraged decades ago.

Why is it that states rights are the be all end all of our republic in the eyes of the GOP, yet when their state proposes something which doesn't fit their idea of Jesus and General Eisenhower they scream bloody murder and socialism?

Consistency, guys. Consistency. If you eat the cake, you have no more cake.

You know, I read your OP and I'm struck by something entirely BEYOND the point of this being about guns.

EVERYTHING you listed in your op ...EVERY last item..is a *NON* Violent crime and quite literally a victim-less one. It's a crime against regulation and letter of law, not against society to have caused victims. Yet, almost all carry felony level time. (Over 1 year min. confinement) and ... EXCUSE ME?!?! 10 *YEARS* for a damned MAGAZINE??

Here is what I propose.... We take every last one of these mental midgets in elected office who has EVER proposed a min. sentence over 1 year for a non-violent AND victim-less crime (we all know a few others without mentioning them) and FORCE THEM to serve 1 12 month 'tour' inside a correctional facility. Pay them their full salary, benefits and pension credit for time inside, as punishment isn't the point. (Well..maybe..but it's not the MAIN point..
)

Let them learn how ENDLESS 365 days can be to count off in a situation that is misery on a stick, day in and day out. THEN let them get the slightest taste of how completely DESTROYED a life is once coming out with a felony conviction for *ANYTHING*.

They toss around YEARS of lost life to human warehousing as if discussing the points assigned on a traffic ticket. We need these arrogant bastards out of power. They just don't have touch in reality for the impact their BAD ideas have on REAL people.
