I think you have a different idea of a straw man argument. I'm asking it to see where peoples ideas of what bear arms means to them. It's that simple. I'm not asking anything in an attempt to discredit anyone or anything

Grrr, who is talking about over throwing anyone...

I'm not there yet but I will not.... no let me change that.

I am of no threat to anyone unless you come to my door with the intentions of ding me harm. Then, my dear, all bets are off!

Because that was the intent of the second amendment, to form a militia. Later a more current Supreme Court added, reasonable arms to protect property and family (a loose paraphrasing)

There is no need to shoot wolves - they are more scared of you then you are of them. Shooting in the air would scare them.

How much you want to bet? Also, since they reintroduced them we are not only being overrun by them. they are also carrying disease that is affecting game and livestock!

ok what am I doing wrong

why do you have to kill sentient creatures - it is disgusting and evil.
Why not just scare them away and lock your meat up properly.
I hate this ' lets kill anything that moves ' mentality.

Yeah thatmakes sense.

Scare a pack of wild wolves away by yelling and waving your arms about ?

Pretty sire if you do that , your only presenting yourself to them as a meal lol. They are not scared easily.

A little lead pellet in the head ,on the other hand, changes everything.

Countless people would be dead by now if they took your advice, sometimes animals need to be shot .

Are you a vegertarian?

If not , then what you eat HAS BEEN KILLED ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.

Go look at some videos of slaughterhouses electricuting sheep/pigs/cows to death and then come back and tell me that shooting it wouldnt have been a better idea...

The OP probably puts food on YOUR table . Ignorant city folk haha

God bless firearms.

Listen mate !
What makes you think I am city folk ????
I admit I have spent alot of my life in London, but I have also spent alot of my life in the country - and not just in England.

There is no need to shoot wolves - they are more scared of you then you are of them. Shooting in the air would scare them. The fact t hat you think they should have a bullet to their head makes you cruel and lacking any feeling of empathy.

You misunderstand me .

I am not suggesting that they be shot instantly with out first trying other options.

I am saying that sometimes there is no choice.

And how the hell would you know wether or not a pack of hungry wolves would run away from the SOUND of a gunshot ??

I dont carewhat you say , if a wolf was coming at me , or my meat, (the op was talking about them going after her meat) , thats threatening my life and my income , and i WILL shoot it .

Of course they would - they are scared of humans - people like you have hunted them to extinction once before - there are streets in American lined with the bones of wolves. Few creatures have been so cruelly treated by man.

They are beautiful and misunderstood by the people who are not connected to this planet. I will always stick up for the right of a wolf over the right of someone like you who wants to casually slaughter them...

Bull# . If they are hungry enough they will not be scared.

Also, fool, i never once said i would get enjoyment out of shooting a wolf nor did i advocate "casually slaughtering" them.

I said if one was coming at me , id shoot it .

Do you mean to tell me , that if a pack of hungry wolves were charging at you, you would happily lay down your life so the precious wolf can eat you ?

You wouldn't even want to use a semi-auto if a bear was ready to eat you...what if it jammed?

I'm gonna assume that's what you mean by "powerful weapon".

Calling a person fool is a bad way to get a point across

No I would not - but that is rarely the reality of the situation is it - how often have you been charged by a pack of hungry wolves ???

If you are using a AR platform in .223, then technically you are still using a 22. Just a more powerful one.

But you go girl!, as the saying goes. Stay safe. I'm hoping to emulate your lifestyle soon, but recent issues may force me to stay near a hospital, which means I'll have to stay in town.
That'll suck.

Your right to bear tank, missiles, an nukes as arms has been infringed for years wheres the Outrage for that?

this is your direct quote, and no matter how you try and twist your words later, it remains a straw man.

a straw man argument is when someone seemingly sets up their opposition's beliefs, then dismantles them, but in reality that person is setting up a position that the opposition doesn't hold.

there has been no outrage because the second amendment covers FIREARMS. tanks, missiles, and nukes ARE NOT FIREARMS!

you have made a straw man fallacy, and on top of that, revealed your position on the subject. you're semi-crafty at debating, but debaters don't care about truth.

I agree.

My uncle was a trophy hunter and had a bunch of bear rugs, exotic gazelle heads from Africa, buffalo, hanging on the walls all over his house. It never set right with me.

I don't see how people take pride in killing animals then hang their carcasses on the wall like it's a trophy. It's just creepy.

But if you're walking around in the woods and a bear charges you, then shoot if by all means. Relying on a semi-auto in that type of situation is just dumb though.

again, wrong. ar-15's and similar semi-auto .223 and 30-06 rifles are the primary choice for hunting and sport shooting.

case in point: a special squad of rangers in alaska carry glock model 20 handguns (10mm) for polar bears. similar groups around the world use the glock 20 (semi-auto, btw) specifically because it is very effective against large, dangerous wildlife.

Yes, I'm sorry I had to point out the horrors I see here. But here? It's a way of life and no one sees anything wrong with it. I can't tell you how many times I ust wish I had a .22 so these animals could stop suffering. That's what I mean about a gun is a tool. It can be for good, or not, just like any other tool.

peace

Hope your health gets better and you can get out in the country. It does a body good. I would rather be bear poo then go back to the city life. I so need to go to sleep.
