It seems your bottom link provides insight to the top link. More than 100 food banks from public donations are being started as a result of these troubled times.

Obviously, the unfortunate suicide was more of a lack of resourcefulness and perhaps pride than a true inability to acquire food.

I don't see how you can be this biased. The society is clearly showing signs of adating to the troubled times. Only tye least fit are dying out. The rest are being strengthened in spirit, mind, and body.

Over 150,000 die every day in the world.
