Protip: I'm fully behind the OP on this one.
I just resent your accusation that we're conditioned to rely on the government to save us.
Professor Peter Squires, professor of criminology and public policy, has given "six out of ten" to the recently-published Home Affairs Select Committee Report on Firearms Control.
"A second reason our gun laws are a mess has to do with the substantial changes in the UK illegal gun supply and the problems this causes, with which the gun laws since 1968 have scarcely kept pace. For example in 1968 we had not yet encountered today's problems with realistic imitation firearms, with convertible weapons, gas cartridge weapons, CS gas weapons, reactivated weapons, and air-powered and BB weapons modelled upon authentic firearms. Today, such weapons account for around 50 per cent of our gun crime statistics and as many as 20 per cent of the crime guns submitted for analysis to the National Forensic Science are conversions.
"The committee acknowledged the limitations of gun crime data recording but did not propose changes. Home Office data will, presumably, continue to record only 'gun-enabled crime' and the many illegal possession charges and prosecutions (punishable by up to five years imprisonment) will go unrecorded, there by misrepresenting the scale of gun crime.

you are so paranoid about people with guns?
And I support the 2nd Amendment, but with a few tweaks to it.
You didnt need a gun that shot 200 rds a min to do what you did.
Im for handguns for home protection, and long guns for hunting.
Everything else is designed for 1 thing, killing humans quickly.

Update!!!
Come to find out the guy that tried to rob us was a 22 year old boy who actually went to school with one of my kids. The vehicle he was in belonged to his mother, and he had sneaked off in it without her permission. His mother gave him two options: either go to drug rehab or she would press charges on him herself for unlawful use of her vehicle. He chose rehab and was escorted there by by uncle and another officer. I wish him luck and hope that he gets his life together!

It would be the epitome of awesomeness! I would ask him in and give him a cold drink and some cobbler!

next time, let them take the tools and stay in the house ,just let your dog out to protect your property,in fact get another one or two dogs, and feed them theif as often as you can.
Its your inborn right to protect your life and the lives of your family or others, property is not a valid reason to kill a person,so next time sit in your rocker with your rifle sights on the guy through your window and contemplate his fate--hopefully you are not having a bad day and you let him live if he touches your window or door.
You are more important then tools, tell your husband to double check his insurance policy and to build himself a dog run connected to his garage like I have and put two rottys inside it.They are very quiet when trained right and you will hear a prowler scream before you hear your dogs bark.I also store their food in the garage and keep em hungry,ha ha ha ha.
Its way easier getting out of your dog biting someone a few times than it is to explaining why you took their head off with a rifle ,and a lot safer for you and your family-----all guns have done is put good dogs in the unemployment line, after all they are supposed to be doing a job. When I lived in a city I had a Rotty with me on every trip to the cornerstore or early evening jog,I never felt I needed a gun. And I was given LOTS of room all the time --everywhere when he was with me.And no NO ONE EVER petted or touched him when he was on the job with me.
No more Rambo moves, guns are for self-protection and hunting, when you left your house you became a hunter not a defensive citizen. Its better I tell you this than a judge, the last thing your Hubby needs is to be coming home early from work to bail you out of jail on a manslaughter charge you got for protecting his tools.
On the other hand if your dog gets to feast on thief ,you might get a little press coverage and be able to stud that sucker out for a few bucks if you are on the ball.

The people who are for the "tweaking" don't realize the American people were supposed to be "the militia."
We're supposed to have military grade assault rifles because we are the military.
You WERE a militia but you didn't use your guns to protect your sovereign rights, NOW your on a government database for saying what you just said.

We could also have another thread by someone who believes "Why People Like Me Shouldn't Have a Gun." I know a lot of hot heads who lose their temper who could easily cross over and do the unthinkable. There's two sides to every story.
I just think gun owners our too dramatic. Banning assault weapons/semi automatic weapons is not banning handguns or your hunting rifles. I mean really, what's the purpose of owning a semi automatic rifle or hand gun? It's clearly the popular choice for mass shootings.

Guns in the USA should be made leg to carry unless you have a hunting license. That's the bottom line to stop all the shootings. But because they make money the federal government turn a blind eye. There will be more big shootings unless Obama puts his foot down and changes the law now not later. He is POTUS he has the power but his Bilderberg friends sway him otherwise.
