By itself it seems alarming, however if you take into account the recent purges that have occurred at the top level of the military establishment its not surprising.

Junior has been cleaning out the old guard that was loyal to his father. Several top generals, as well as the defense minister, have been sacked / executed. I view this action as Junior reinforcing to the military that he is in charge and is not weak when it comes to managing the military.
