Why all schools should be cancelled this Friday.

Hello everyone, I am sure everyone is getting increasingly aware of all the shootings that have been going on all over the country this last week leading up to the 21st(end of the world blah blah blah). Now as everyone is not also aware of is copy cat shooters, people who mimic or even try to outdo what someone else did to get equal the infamy. Now to the threads title.

I strongly value education, but this being said, people have gone NUTS! I have a feeling what will come this week will make the elementary school shooting look like a bruised knee or a paper cut. Now if the end of the world was supposed to end on Friday, when do you think copycat shooters will most likely try to outdo their instigator. Friday. My prediction is of several or even a dozen of these shootings on this day. I think you would be stupid to even let your kids go to school this week with all the nut jobs out their.

Do you agree with me that we should not have school this Friday to thwart any huge plans of murder? or do you think Sandy Hook is it?

Unfortunately I agree. I hated letting my kids go to school. I think the 21st paranoia is too much for some people. Heck, look at what the heavens gate cult did over a comet. Who knows what we are liable to see. Mass suicides wouldn't surprise me either.

Interesting premise, but I think most kids will be out of school for the holidays.

Well all's I know is that my 14 year old does NOT want to go to school on the 21. He was saying how many other high schoolers are staying home that day just in case the world ends...lol. Even some of the teachers are telling the students to stay home if that's what they want to do.

I told my son we was going to school no matter what and he's so upset with me...lol. He thanked me for letting him die alone away from his family.

I am so sick of all this doomsday stuff and cannot wait for it to be over. I think I'm more exited about the 22 than I am for Xmas day

We're not likely to suffer a school shooting in the UK (though I'm not saying it can't happen), and my sons school is impossible to get into unless they recognise you as a parent. Second to this, all doors open from the inwards out, they're all locked from the inside and you can't open them from outside.

Further to this; I have my own reasons to not wanting him to be in school Friday.
It's that "just in case something bad does happen" regarding 21/12/2012. If there is a massive world ending event (which I know logically there won't be), I would want to die with my son, not separately from him.

I will be working, caring for animals is my job. Honestly, I can't think of a better way to go; caring for the loving creatures on earth. (I don't have family here)

Well, fortunately the teachers here figured a week wasn't enough time off so Friday is called for a "Professional Development Day". They seem to take a day or two off every month for that..must be nice. Anyway, in this case? I'm happy about it. I hadn't even thought of our Son staying home from school for the 12/21 stupidity but it sure gave me a start to think about for a minute. I'd probably have kept him home if he wasn't anyway, after you mention it.

It isn't even about a fear that HIS school will have something bad happen...but people power pushing Dumb as a headline event on Friday is what I half expect and this Lock-Down concept where even parents can't get kids is REAL easy to fix. My kid won't BE in their control on a day where a problem is likely to develop.....then I don't have to worry about their ability to properly care for him in a crisis. They can't care for him on a GOOD day...it won't even be tried in a major crisis situation. The more I think about it..the stronger I feel too. I'm glad he's off anyway.

I live in South Bend IN.... kinda in a bad neighborhood. Don't really feel like having my children there when the homeboys go crazy... So I figure I move them to the rural south Michigan area on Thursday and into the weekend. I only have one pistol. But my Father in Law has guns galore. And mad ammo. Just in case ya know?

My feeling is that the day you let fear decide for you, you have already up your freedom of choice.

The media wants Americans freaking out over this, otherwise there wouldn't be 24/7 discussions on every major news outlet.

The government wants you freaking out over this. The gunmen/perpetrators want you freaking out over this.

You are playing into the exact mentality they are steering you in. Next you will be agreeing that we should all give up our guns or agree to martial law "until all this craziness ends".

Yes, what happened is a true American tragedy. But, no, I'm not changing my way of life over it.

My kids will be out for two weeks beginning this week (Wednesday).

IF they were not out for the Holidays they would definitely not go on Friday as there is too much hype and craziness will probably reign on that particular date.

Where we live all school already will be out for the Christmas break....This is just normal procedure, but it is good that they are already closed. Just so children will already be home, and out the craziness people decide to pull on the 21st.

I will be letting my 3 kids go to school that day (its their xmas party), the school is about a 5 minute walk from home so if shtf, I wont have far to go to go get them.

I normally bus into work, but on Friday, I will be driving in just in case. I dont beleive in 21/12 doomsday but if I am wrong, at least I wont be stranded 30km away from home on foot....I'd be home within an hour (traffic of course) and I know all the back roads to avoid highways in the area.

Me too..My kids party is on that day...so I will most likely be at the school most of the day--on and off..and like you I live within a stones throw..I can be there in under 2 min.

I won't give into fear..especially over loony bins!

I agree with you...keep the children home this Friday; call in sick to work; and keep the children home.

I am thinking too...that after the CT massacre...many parents may take their children out of schools...and home school them.

I also think you are right about the (copy-cat) killers; they will be showing up this week.

Those are my first thoughts; but then I also think...keep your eyes and ears open...and make sure your children have protection; but go about your normal routines; don't give into fear; but be extra cautious.

As you all can see...my mind is all over the place on this one.

I think the kids will be okay going to school. The end of the world is supposed to happen at 11:11pm universal time. Most of us will be home then.

It does make me nervous about copy-cat killers, though.
