Guns Don't Make Us Free. Period.

Obviously in the wake of Friday's tragedy there has been much ado about whether or not more strict gun laws are coming to the U.S. or not.

Here is why it makes ZERO difference if the proverbial "they" come to "take our guns away". (in no particular order, chronological or otherwise).

1. In 1963 the whole country watched as the US Intelligence Appartus murdered a sitting US President in broad daylight and produce an OFFICIAL explanation that rests on the presupposition that at least SOME bullets are imbued with magical qualities. To this day...gun owners have done nothing about it.

2. Bob McNamara came clean and told us all that the Gulf of Tonkin Incident never happened. Gun owners did nothing.

3. Reagan wheeled out the unconstitutional "War on Drugs". Gun owners did nothing.

4. The CIA announced that they now torture people without trial in secret overseas prisons. Gun owners did nothing.

5. The whole country watched an ENTIRE PRESIDENTIAL ADMINISTRATION lie about the Iran-Contra Arms deal. Gun owners did nothing.

6. Donald Rumsfeld to justice for announcing he "misplaced" 2.3 Trillion dollars THE DAY BEFORE THE 9-11 ATTACKS!! Gun owners did nothing.

7. Colin Powell lied to every man, woman, and child in the country on national television in order to start a 9-year, $1 Trillion dollar war in Iraq under completely false pretenses...which ultimately resulted in 1 MILLION CIVILIAN DEATHS?? Gun owners did nothing.

8. HUNDREDS of FEMA camps sprouted up underneath the Patriot Act. They are built now...and sit empty...just waiting. Gun owners did nothing.

9. Occupy Protestors had chemical weapons deployed on them and their Constitutional rights subverted ALL ACROSS THE COUNTRY. Gun owners did nothing. In fact...many (certainly not all) of them supported the cops because of some silly artificial cultural war that your slave masters conditioned you to believe in.

10. Virtually every week there is a new story about a police officer beating someone to death, executing a family pet, tasing people with reckless abandon, kicking a pregnant woman in the stomach, etc, etc, etc. Gun owners do nothing.

11. The Federal Reserve and the Banksters conspire to swindle your fellow citizens out their HOMES for Christ sake. Gun owners did nothing.

12. Countless corporations have screwed you and your neighbors out of their pensions, retirements, and investment portfolios. Gun owners did nothing.

13. About 10,000 other things too...I'm sure.

I hate to burst your bubble...but the only thing the NRA has done since it's inception is bribe politicians.

Quit fooling yourselves...because you're certainly not fooling anyone else.

So because no one has done anything your solution is to curl up into a ball and allow things to get worse? Your own OP suggests that we have a very corrupt government does it not? So just what will happen once the threat of the citizens rising up against them is muted???

I think increasing the backround checks required to own a gun would be a great idea... What should we do? Nothing?

i think the point of the thread is that you cant keep using that argument as it is an empty threat.

There is no threat of uprising. People aren't united and guns are overrated. TPTB have weapons way more efficient than our antique rifles, flame throwers, even rocket launchers. It is like throwing stones at the Death Star. They are constantly investing OUR money on researching for ways to keep us down, and they are way ahead of what we have.
I shall never say "give up your weapons", but "get better ones". It is vital now.

So we might as well just hand our guns over to the corrupt jerks then. You're right, they beat us. We should all give up entirely. It was Nixon who started the insane war on drugs btw.

I have to pay for my property for ever its never payed off property taxs...

Outlawing gun ownership is the final piece of the puzzle. It’s the final step in rendering the nation powerless….and it will fail. Make no mistake, THEY ARE coming for our guns…again. This may lead to the next civil war. The difference this time is that Americans are much more informed, and those who serve/have served will not follow the direction of the NWO-types who seek control over OUR families.

I had Federal, State, and local background checks.
I filled out the forms, paid my money waited 11 1/2 weeks and now have a permit to carry pistols and revolvers.

What more do you want?
Oh and i must fill out more forms when i buy a gun as well.

There's not a thing wrong with that idea at all. In fact, its one of the things I'd like to see happen, provided that it couldn't be abused in a manner to act as a ban.

Unfortunately, too many people simply want to use this to push a pro-ban agenda, either for 'assault' weapons or for a general gun ban. It amounts to punishing 100 million people for something they didn't do and would never do.

I have a Marine that went to war and only part of his mind came back..
They see a civil war every day those Americans that came back will not hand down there Guns without dieing for there country...

It’s very simple. Those who wish to usurp power first seek disarmament. It’s happen many times throughout history and I cited two examples TODAY. If you want to avoid being RULED then the key is to maintain POWER...that is done through projection of force. there are 3 guns for every one citizens in America.

So if owning a gun keeps all of these things from happening, why are you no free'er living in the USA today than say if you compare with Ireland, France, the UK or Japan. The citizens of these countries are being treated no differently to US citizens and fire arms are illigal so your whole point is mute as far as I can see.

Thinking that owning a gun is the only thing stopping your government from ruling you is merely paranoia.

In America we retain the right (and means) to ensure that freedom. I can walk out of my front door tomorrow and buy 100 guns an 1,000,0000 rounds of ammo without a problem...I can TOMORROW...next year is a different story.

The citizens of those countries are susceptible to the whims of their government and have no final recourse; they've already been neutered. Its no surprise that people who have never experienced CONTROL over their government would argue that there is no difference.
