You do know that there is alternatives to teaching false information right? Stopping government schooling does not mean that people will suddenly stop wanting to know things...

Real economics is readily available to learn and its not found in schools... As far as politics there's not much to learn there its many crooked people doing crooked things. Moral principles like non initiation of force and self ownership are a much better basis for forming a society and only a political system which protects those principles is actually worth having...

You realise it's all pretend right? We just pretend the economy works and we pretend like the government is helping us. If we done away with their corruption they would just send gangsters to our door to collect their money.

The reason we all pretend like government and economics are good is so we don't have to constantly fight. We just pay our taxes and try to survive. lol

You must know it's all just pretend.

I'm not sure where to start... The current economic system does not work. The current government is simply a regime of force. The two are linked in that sense. The government forces an economic system upon its people which is used as a tool to loot their wealth. Inflation being the main form. Government schools help to perpetuate this problem by teaching kids that it is the correct way for a society to operate.

If people stopped consenting by sending their kids to school that would be a step in the right direction. It's true that they would eventually have to supplement the correct information with the false information but the first step is to stop teaching the false information.

Jump in anywhere you like. I'm just rambling.

eta:

Ah no, no kind of economy or government would be uncorruptable - especially not any government over a large groups of people.

Large groups of people are the perfect target for corruption - no way you can keep it out; people are greedy. If you want the freedom you're thinking of you'll have to move to some small tribe out in the woods somewhere.

I value the non initiation of force and private property. If you can conceive of a government that does not violate those principles then I am all for it.

I am not for the radical abolition of any government structure but for the movement towards the direction of a free and moral society... that simple.

Learning the correct information is a good start...

People are corruptible. Rewarding those most corrupted by giving them positions of power is dangerous... Again people are greedy a group of people control of a currency is once again dangerous and doomed to failure and no other result.

Currency is a product of the market and should not be and cannot be a product of government.

Not the current one... If it was supposed to restrict government then it failed.. If it was supposed to enact the type of government that we have then it shouldn't even bother existing...

So the governments only role is to mandate private property by force? But you just said you didn't want force in the government.

You've listened to too many right wing libertarian talking points without thinking them through.

Dude you're misstating what I have said. The initiation of force should not be permitted point blank. Meaning by government or other.

If someone initiates force then you have the right to respond with force. Hence if someone steals the products of your efforts, your private property, then you have the right to respond with force.

A group of people or government could respond with force but not initiate it.

They could and should protect private property.

No, I say GET INVOLVED!

I think I am going to start a thread on this topic because it is beginning to press upon my mind in so many discussions, particularly with Americans, that talk as if "the government" is something separate from themselves and a threat..... without recognizing that that only becomes true when you decide to sit at home in your own bubble on the computer complaining, instead of putting yourself and you influence into things.

If the people want to have a say in what goes on in schools- they should become school teachers! Infiltrate! Form unions, get involved!

They are separate from me and are a threat... I'm not the one bombing Pakistan, or invading Lybia or targeting children as young as 15 in Afghanistan. I'm not the one making laws that are for the purpose of restricting freedom. I'm not the one locking people up for smoking a plant or patting the down before they get on a plane... I'm not the one who is stealing from people by inflating the currency or forcing people to pay up at gun point.

That's the government... they are a mechanism for force and I don't get involved with criminal organizations.

S&F. For those stating that "only those with money could get an education for their kids" - do you really think most of these kids are getting an education? We have adults that can't read, that went through these schools. People don't know anything about the system of government we use, or where major countries are located on a globe, or even how to construct a basic sentence. I have seen my younger set (9-12) do better locating countries on a globe than what I have seen high school kids do in videos. There is something wrong there.....and it isn't with mine! The system isn't teaching a lot of kids. More propaganda is being pushed than actual education. They want to control what the kids eat, how they think, how they dress, even their home lives. They spy on kids with school-issued computers, teachers fight with kids, school bus drivers and aids attack kids, kids attack each other, we have shootings.....what, exactly, is there worth preserving? Now I KNOW some fine teachers. I have family and friends that teach. I have also seen some really BAD teachers, and they keep on teaching as well. It can be near impossible to get rid of the bad ones. Even teachers that molest have been known to be moved, NOT reported, NOT fired, and NOT prevented from teaching elsewhere. Many problems, and there seem to be no real solutions.

Clearly, the only good solution is to toss out the system, and try something else.

Government schools are a regimes best friend... Teach the history they want, the economics they wants, the politics they want... Its the best way to brainwash a nation...

The soviets had their own schools and it was a great tool for the regime. Hitler had his youth camps, another way to get to the people at an early age.

Education is not to be left in the hands of governments! It is dangerous!

Protects the kids. Protest government schools.

How is this different from 'private' schools? Or home schooling? Doesn't the same kind of alleged mechanism of influence occur there. Or do you really think your parents have no influence or that teachers in non-government schools have no influence?

I get the feeling the only real difference is that you assume that the government is somehow indoctrinating children with politics you don't like. I get the impression that 'free thinking' isn't what you actually want, just 'people who think along the same lines as you'.

yup

We have adults that can't read, that went through these schools.

The US has a 99% literacy rate because of public schools. Adults that cannot read in this country usually have learning problems, like dyslexia.

than what I have seen high school kids do in videos.

lol, because videos are very reliable.

They spy on kids with school-issued computers, teachers fight with kids, school bus drivers and aids attack kids, kids attack each other, we have shootings.....what, exactly, is there worth preserving?

And this is 1% of the whole school population or less.

I have also seen some really BAD teachers, and they keep on teaching as well.

This is present at basically any job. You forgot to mention the really good ones, the good ones, the ok ones as well.

Even teachers that molest have been known to be moved, NOT reported, NOT fired, and NOT prevented from teaching elsewhere.

That's actually illegal so......anyone doing this would be arrested and fired. I'm sure it's happened once or twice ...

The Department of Education and its army of communist indoctrinators should be shut down. All Federal funding and propagandizing to American children should stop. All public employee teachers union should be outlawed.

The education of American children should be conducted at the State, County, and local levels with absolutely no interference from the criminals in Washington, DC.

Decades of propagandizing and indoctrination by the Department of Education has resulted in a generation of useful idiots.

And every American citizen should be taught to keep and bear arms from the age of 10.

Never heard of vouchers?

If you weren't taxed to the brink for the public schools you could afford tuition for a private school.
Or home school your child.
