I never heard it mentioned either way. Some anti gun people seem to think all us gun owners should have to go out and spend 5 grand on a huge cast iron safe for it to be stored safely. Personally, I have all my guns but two stored in a solid wood case, I have my AR15 close and loaded at all times, along with one of my more powerful rifles loaded by the back door. If someone were to break in when no one was home, a sledgehammer would render my case useless, I really don't have to worry about that here though.edit on Sun, 16 Dec 2012 16:40:08 -0600 by TKDRL because: (no reason given)

For hunting I prefer a bow, except for moose. My AR15 is for when the giant coyotes up here get brave and come onto my land. The time it would take for me to take 2 padlocks off, load up, then go outside, might be the time it takes for a bunch of the animals to get snatched. The big bore rifle is for aggressive bears. No kids, I do keep my room locked when my little cousins are here visiting though. Too many swords and guns in my room

I swear, there's something wrong with America when people suggest more guns, in schools, in response to this tragedy!
that was in this weekends paper!
obviously you didn't read the MEs report which clearly states only 2 of the 7? he examined were shot AT close range. that means everyone else (of those he had examined) were shot from a distance greater than 2ft away.
and as for the debate about what constitutes close range, he was obviously close enough to all of them and effectively had them cornered in a classroom to cause the damage that he did.
hahahahahahaha, so they say

Lanza had entered the school heavily armed. He had three guns -- two handguns and the Bushmaster .223-caliber assault rifle that he used to force his way in and kill most of his victims -- along with hundreds of bullets, at least 30 magazines per gun and extra ammunition, police said. Lanza ultimately used a handgun to kill himself, state police said, and the three guns, the rifle, a Glock 10 mm and a Sig Sauer 9 mm, were found by his body. A fourth gun, a shotgun, was found in Lanza's car outside the school, police said.
