I don't believe this is the issue. Was the waiter insulting them or merely stating the obvious to (in fact) better serve them? The big question is, are the tables numbered? If so, then the waiter should be let go immediately.

Also, Restaurants need customers, without them there is no business. Now that the word is out chances are all their other "Fat Customers" wont bother giving them business.

So, in that respect they'll lose again.

I doubt this will affect their business one iota other than making it busier. This a ton of free advertising for them. If this was a story about how a customer found a dead mouse in their soup then it is a different story but this is a individual server who had nothing to do with food quality or the overall atmosphere of the place. As you can see from this thread and responses most people do not see this as being "wrong". Sure it was a bad mistake by the server but lets be real. This happens in every restaurant around the country on a daily basis 24-7-365.

So, in the end, you think it is a good think to diminish a persons self worth, because MAYBE they will change? So you're ok with someone pointing out all of your flaws? and doing so while being paid by their employer?

Am I really being asked to explain the mechanisms of common courtesy and professionalism? The reason for not pointing out the obvious is that it is obvious. It is also none of the waiters concern.

I am absolutely amazed that I have to clarify that.

Why is this even news? This kind of crap happens every day, fire the person behind this and move on.

I am not fat and I am very upset. I do have very long hair, which is not "stylish" I do have people come up to me and say.."you need to cut your hair"... I don't think my hair or my body is anyone's business and they should mind their own!
