This just seems to be another "weapons of mass destruction" excuse to get us into another war. Where does this stuff come from and why would anyone believe after all we have seen over the last 15 years?

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't the faulty intelligence on Iraq's WMD coming from someone in Iraq who would have loved nothing more than to see Sadam Hussein fall?

Ahmed Abdel Hadi Chalabi[1] (Arabic: أحمد الجلبي‎) (born October 30, 1944) is an Iraqi politician. He was interim oil minister in Iraq[2] in April-May 2005 and December-January 2006 and deputy prime minister from May 2005 until May 2006. Chalabi failed to win a seat in parliament in the December 2005 elections, and when the new Iraqi cabinet was announced in May 2006, he was not given a post. Once dubbed the "George Washington of Iraq"[3] by American supporters, he has fallen out of favor and is currently under investigation by several U.S. government sources. He was also the subject of a 2008 biography by investigative journalist Aram Roston, The Man Who Pushed America to War; The Extraordinary Life, Adventures, And Obsessions of Ahmad Chalabi [4] and a 2011 biography by 60 Minutes producer Richard Bonin, "Arrows of the Night: Ahmad Chalabi's Long Journey to Triumph in Iraq". [5]

en.wikipedia.org...

I think the same thing is going on here. I think it's faulty intelligence from a fake ally in the Middle East (Turkey).

Erdogan is ticking his own people off royally right now with his "Ottoman Empire" and "Sultan" behavior, according to his own people.

I must've missed it in the article, but what hand did the US have in this?

Anything that happens or does not happen in the world is the fault of the US. Nobody can do anything unless the US had a role in it. That is what some peoples version of reality is. As for the op if Assad uses chemical weapons the rest of the world will have to do something. Seeing as the West has been desparate to stay out of it I doubt it would go beyond perhaps some air support or no fly zones. Maybe not even that much.

From what I have read,in the past year.Russia and China have vetoed every idea for anyone to get involved.

You post that as if Saddam falling was a bad thing.
Everybody knows Assad has WMDs. It's been known for decades. The real question is are these new reports credible?

Hopefully they're wrong.

Time will tell.

what officials?? what organization was looking into this and who gave the official statement.

they might as well just say " People are saying syria is loading chemical weapons into bombs on Assad's order."

Officials and people are not sources that are credible since there is no one to be accountable for the info if this proves to be false.

I find it extremely hard to believe this story. Attacking ones people with such weapons makes no sense at all.

That article is structured in a way where it gives you a compelling unconfirmed story about how evil assad is and then they follow up with what is going on in syria and setting up the US and Nato as the good guys.

I mean if you cannot see through the crap then you deserve your WW3

The words "chemical weapons" + "Cuba" makes me think of US Gov propaganda. Something like a re-run of the hateful spewing during the invasion of Iraq.

Just my two cents.

Good read though. S/F

I have read the posts on this thread. It seems most of the people think we should wait and see if WMD's are used.So that there will be no doubt.Well if they are used I am sure the people of Syria will thank you for voicing your suspicions of the media and your goverments.Of course by them it may not matter.

LOL!

That was quite funny. So, the U.S. officials agreed that Assad is NOT loading chemical weapons onto his bombers yet, but gave an order for the military to 'be prepared' (for the inevitable NATO incursions?) and now the media is hyping this up claiming he is going to bomb his own people?!

Sounds like a whole load of lies... Wait, I mean political promises.

Assad is not stupid or crazy enough to kill his own people. If anything, those weapons are being locked and loaded because he fears that Turkey or Israel might try something. Remember Assad's promise to 'burn the world down' if a foreign power intervened in Syria directly?

This is nothing more than journalists beating the drums of war. We seen it before in the run up to the invasion of Iraq.

again just because information from confidential sources is released doesnt mean its not true........again.....its a case of who do you trust?

Should you just pass off the information as propaganda and not investigate, with the risk of being wrong? Being wrong in this case would cost human lives and be an attrocity........

tell that to Sadam Hussein, Hitler, Pol Pot, etc etc etc etc ad nauseum........

News Flash

Assad has been killing his own people for months. The Syrian civilians have been caught in the crossfire and both sides are more than happy to use them as cannon fodder...

Google it.

Perhaps. But he has learned a secret many other leaders have, and sadly it works.

When something goes wrong, blame it on the Jews. Everytime he goes on an anti-Jew rant, his ratings skyrocket.

You want to believe that, you go right ahead.

The fact is, they ARE involved, arming and backing the terrorists, and fomenting the citizens to rise up for 'freedom and democracy'. They've set up and funded NGO's going back years, all across the middle east. Except of course, for the countries that are playing ball the way they want - no 'freedom and democracy' for those citizens, no sir...

And even if you don't believe that - they've been trying like mad to get a 'humanitarian intervention' and a 'no fly zone', which are the politically correct terms for 'invasion'.

Exactly what they did to Libya; but since that was illegal, but they did it anyway, Russia and China keep smacking them down, b/c what they did, and what they want to do in Syria, is illegal under international law.

So don't say they've been trying not to get involved, that's the opposite of what they've been doing.

No it is not. I know first hand just what they have been doing. And that kicking themselves for not seeing all this coming and stopping it. Because everything that is happening now undermines what we want out of the region. Russia and China could not stop them from doing what they want if they wanted. They ignore all the time because the fact is they can not do anything about it. The West wants nothing to do with Syria and they have not from day one. I know this does not fit in the fantasy that things in the world are outside of Americas control but, you have to face reality at some point.

As usual Slayer ignoring the fact that most if not all of those massacres in the early stages during this year, including i am sure you remember the 5 UN meetings 5 massacres that we had been seeing on the news.

Have been carried out by the Free Syrian Army fighters right before a Major UN meeting was supposed, ironic how these supposed massacres have suddenly stopped.

Are you one of the suckers who fell for this article?

If so ha!

Syria is not about to launch chemical weapons, but you will believe it because NBC told you

"Dem be dem Iraqi weapons that Sadamn hid from us, he gave dem to ASSad"

Get a grip people, you should be worried about the Western meddling in the region. The USA is realizing their plan of backing the "rebels" has backfired and now that plan A is not working they are moving on to plan B. Plan B is an invasion based on lies, just like Iraq, and Afghanistan.

Fool me once...now put a dunce cap on.

I'm more concerned that the "rebels" who have recently captured military bases will use them and try to blame it on Assad.

Nothing is as it appears with the entire arab spring movement, it's scary stuff.

You either need to reread his post, or look up "cannon fodder" in the dictionary.

I think he's well aware that the rebels are killing civilians and blaming Assad.

OK i have a very stupid question so please bear with me. My supervisor and i was arguing that if Syria fired off chemical wepons what affect it would have on the USA. I said it wouldnt reach this far as it would disipitate in before it got here. She said since the earth rotates we would rotate into the chemical cloud and we would be breathing it. This seemed far fetched to me but is it true? Or would it wonder thru the winds like radiation? I know, i know its stupid but i would really like to know.
