Ahmed Abdel Hadi Chalabi[1] (Arabic: أحمد الجلبي) (born October 30, 1944) is an Iraqi politician. He was interim oil minister in Iraq[2] in April-May 2005 and December-January 2006 and deputy prime minister from May 2005 until May 2006. Chalabi failed to win a seat in parliament in the December 2005 elections, and when the new Iraqi cabinet was announced in May 2006, he was not given a post. Once dubbed the "George Washington of Iraq"[3] by American supporters, he has fallen out of favor and is currently under investigation by several U.S. government sources. He was also the subject of a 2008 biography by investigative journalist Aram Roston, The Man Who Pushed America to War; The Extraordinary Life, Adventures, And Obsessions of Ahmad Chalabi [4] and a 2011 biography by 60 Minutes producer Richard Bonin, "Arrows of the Night: Ahmad Chalabi's Long Journey to Triumph in Iraq". I must've missed it in the article, but what hand did the US have in this?
Anything that happens or does not happen in the world is the fault of the US. Nobody can do anything unless the US had a role in it. That is what some peoples version of reality is. As for the op if Assad uses chemical weapons the rest of the world will have to do something. Seeing as the West has been desparate to stay out of it I doubt it would go beyond perhaps some air support or no fly zones. Maybe not even that much.

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't the faulty intelligence on Iraq's WMD coming from someone in Iraq who would have loved nothing more than to see Sadam Hussein fall?

I'm sure Assad has chemical weapons, that's not the issue for me. The real issue is if he uses it or not. I'm sure if he was ready to use them NATO and the U.S would be all over him like flies on ....
Just my two cents.
Good read though. S/F

what officials?? what organization was looking into this and who gave the official statement. they might as well just say " People are saying syria is loading chemical weapons into bombs on Assad's order."
I find it extremely hard to believe this story. Attacking ones people with such weapons makes no sense at all.
That article is structured in a way where it gives you a compelling unconfirmed story about how evil assad is and then they follow up with what is going on in syria and setting up the US and Nato as the good guys. I mean if you cannot see through the crap then you deserve your WW3

Assad has been killing his own people for months. The Syrian civilians have been caught in the crossfire and both sides are more than happy to use them as cannon fodder...
Google it.

You want to believe that, you go right ahead.
The fact is, they ARE involved, arming and backing the terrorists, and fomenting the citizens to rise up for 'freedom and democracy'. They've set up and funded NGO's going back years, all across the middle east. Except of course, for the countries that are playing ball the way they want - no 'freedom and democracy' for those citizens, no sir...
And even if you don't believe that - they've been trying like mad to get a 'humanitarian intervention' and a 'no fly zone', which are the politically correct terms for 'invasion'.
Exactly what they did to Libya; but since that was illegal, but they did it anyway, Russia and China keep smacking them down, b/c what they did, and what they want to do in Syria, is illegal under international law.
So don't say they've been trying not to get involved, that's the opposite of what they've been doing.
edit on 6-12-2012 by curiouscanadian777 because: correction
Assad has been killing his own people for months.

As usual Slayer ignoring the fact that most if not all of those massacres in the early stages during this year, including i am sure you remember the 5 UN meetings 5 massacres that we had been seeing on the news.
Have been carried out by the Free Syrian Army fighters right before a Major UN meeting was supposed, ironic how these supposed massacres have suddenly stopped.
