'ctrl' and mouse wheel gives zoom. Too much zoom and you get cut off. Back off the zoom and it reappears. Problem is, it is cut off if you zoom for full page width as I have to do.

Oh BTW, I showed my husband your design for your son's T-shirt that you created, & he was asking if the company keeps the colors the same as you have in your design or is it altered in any way? And about how long does it usually take to get it once you place an order?
He liked your latest creation & thought it was cool to have your very own design on a TEE
I told him you do this quite a lot for your family.

He airbrushes on T-shirts, car tags etc. but due to his hands shaking and what not, he's not able to do the fine detailed work he once used to do.
But to use 'digital' to create art really interests him, even though he doesn't mess with a computer, he sees what all of us can do.

I use CustomInk.com. They will be pretty close in color....but it isn't exact (in photoshop i have nearly infinite color variations I can create). Somethings I have learned:

- they will blend out the "background color" if you give them a big image like the sample from earlier. So the black color (since it will be on a black shirt) will be achieved by not printing on the black fabric. This can make problems to a degree if you don't understand it and plan for it. My alien shirt isn't quite what I wanted....so I am reordering it with a slight modification (i will include the black backround so the whitish smoke around the edges will blend properly)

- they sometimes pick up colors your didn't realize were there. So you have to pay attention to the color palette before you accept.

The results have been good, though. My youngest has about 5 shirts that he loves. My wife loves the 3 I have done for her. I like my own 2 I have done for me, excepting the alien issue (although I still wear it, and get questioned about it). And the 2 I made for coworkers....we are going to sell those as sundry items in our business now (with 4 other proof of concepts being approved currently). I am having shirts printed for Christmas gifts to other employees in the building (they are interested in buying....so i will gift it instead).

It takes about a week to get it back. The cost is around 25 a shirt, maybe 35 max, when you order just 1. Bulk ordering gets a discount.

Thanks...I'll pass it on to him.

We also have transfers that we put on shirts, so I kinda understand the black BG not showing up on a black tee.
There's a couple of designs that work on both white & black tees and even though it's the same exact pattern being applied, it obviously looks a tad bit different on white VS. black, depending on the colors in the scene.

Hmmm, this gives me an idea about our transfers.
Creating our own designs and have them made into transfers.
The trick there is the quality with which the ink would be used to make the transfer
Some thing to check into for next year possibly.

Appreciate it BFFT~

Hmmm, this Avatar Creations thread seems awfully quiet today.

Well, we'll have to see about that

So what is the acceptable size for a signature pic? I know it's 70px tall, but....

Bfft=577px
Sled=600px
Snark=500px

for width. For scaling, what's safe?

I am tinkering with a new idea, and was just curious.

I think we're in uncharted territory with 5/3.
If anyone comes up with some reasonable dimensions, limitations, I'll be glad to add them to the OP as unofficial limits.

i think 600x60 but i am not positive.

I have just taken to trying to fit what I want into as small a space as i can use. The responsive design seems to make "official limits" a moot point.

I think everyone can use some gentle guidelines though....give me some dimensions and/or file sizes.....I understand about it not being official and all, but something is better than nothing.

70px for height works fine. It's the max width that is bothering me. 600px max seems to get cut off slightly when scaling out to 125%, but it still doesn't seem like we're using the full width of the signature line. Hmmm.

The problem is tablets. I hate those damn things. They are just another step in dumbing people down.

What happened to the day when people wanted a 32" monitor? The LCD was supposed to give us that....instead it has given us dumbed down computing that we hold in our lap like a flyer.

My computer is a Dell Inspiron laptop...nothing special. At work it is a similar make/build, but not a dell. I can see the full signatures at 125% zoom. I think we have folks not using the mobile version on tablets that just don't have the resolutions to support more than 400 or so.

So the question then is: how important is your message?

I see Druid doing some research. Itll be interesting to see.....

The old uploader still exists in the production release, so I checked it out for sigi dimensions...

So, the last known guidance was 70X600 with a max of 50kb

When I reduce my browser window enough to see some of my desktop...

...your test sigi gets reduced to a width of 526 pixels on my screen. That''s the skinniest it gets on my PC.

Based on that, my stab at this would be 70X525 for best results across platforms with a caveat of "results may vary"

ETA: These results are at normal (no) zoom.

After a bit of tinkering with this 100px by 800px template I made:

I realized it all depends on the tag you use in your sig line for the image you want to display.

A normal [ img] [ /img] tag used produces this result:

Which yields about 575pxs of horizontal width.

A left-aligned tag, [ imgl] [ /img] produces this result:

Which yields about 725pxs of horizontal width.

My template was 100pxs tall, and had no problem displaying the complete height, but it does smack into the bottom of the window.

Conclusion: We can use 70px by 575px safely with normal tags, and IF you want an extra 150pxs of width, remember to use the left-align tag.

ETA: Scaling is even worse on a mobile device. The smartphone displays a wee 525px width. Viewport is 980 x 385. Not good.
