I must point out that your arguments are flawed. In countries such as Vietnam, dogs are eaten as if they are chickens in our country. It's a society issue that chickens are viewed as food and dogs are viewed as pets.

And i am totaly against eating cats or dogs as food. i think common sense tells us that.common sense also tells us that chickens are food.

My chicken was pretty smart, she met me at the door when I got up in the mornings and stayed with me until she went to roost at night. Would I say she was as smart as the average dog, yes she was. She nearly froze to death one winter, my Dad brought her in comatose and put her in a box in the den. When she woke up I was petting her, at first she was terrified but after an hour or so we were best friends, when we put her back out with our other chickens I figured she would forget about me but she did not. I understand what you are saying but chickens are treated differently from pets so theyfore they act differently, they are more aloof toward humans.

You are saying that people of other countries that do eat dogs and cats have no common sense.

That surely is insulting a lot of people.

How can you say an entire country(ies) is wrong for what THEIR culture does?

That is compared to saying - use of Peyote by modern American culture is wrong, but within the Native Americn society it is ritual and their culture; it is accepted by American standards of the NA culture.
Are they wrong because it does not fit your views of what is right?

ON a side note of complete curiosity - why do you call yourself Samhain?

Cannibals of deep jungles eat people.
I do not consider it wrong for THEM !!!
You are saying it is wrong for Vietnamese to do what they do/have always done.
It is that culture that do what they do, be it right/wrong for us.
It's simply not our call, we are not that culture.

I'm not Misfit due to a band.
I'm Misfit because I am.

Your view is obvious: everything that is not right to 'you' - is wrong.
I do believe that is about as self-righteous as one can get.

My mood is far from ghoulish - my mood is that I respect another cultures' way of life.

I agree with goose.....

Chickens are Smart!!

I have hung out with my chickens and each has a different personality. One time a little hen was clucking and limping, across the yard. She must of got one of her little toe nails caught on a rock or something. Pulled the whole nail right off! I picked her up and cleaned off the bloody toe and applied a topical antibotic. Within a few day she was back to normal.
Chickens also feel pain. Several times some of the hens 'CLUCKED OUT' really loud when they would lay an extra large egg!

Also in this area we have a lot of snakes. Before the chickens were here it wasn't unusual for a Mohave Green Rattler to come onto the property. That snake is one bad Ass snake! If it bites you your lungs shut down within minutes and you die. Unless you have someone near by who can do CPR until you get to the nearest hospital 75 miles away for the anti-venom. Chickens deter snakes! So therefore are useful for saving human lives! Did I also mention the black widows they eat?

Most of my hens were good mothers too. Better than some humans. They constantly watched over their chicks. One time a baby chick fell into the drinking water. The mama hen clucked...and clucked....flapping her wings just to get my attention. I got the little guy out and dried him off. There was no doubt, in my mind that the mother hen felt pain and fear for her youngester!

No, it's not insulting it's just reality. Nor is it a matter of common sense. It's a cultural evolution that dogs are not eaten while chickens are. It has nothing to do with intelligence, but barrels down to a philosophical issue of what deserves to live and what does not.

This scathing piece of social commentary is just here to point out some "facts". Please do view it, but do so knowing that it is done in satire, a parody of KFC, if you will.

The fast food is quite different in different countries. E.G: the McDonald's food is different in Europe than in Japan. Also, the canned drinks are different, too. The Coke tastes different, the Fanta, the Sprite.

So we cannot generalize like that.
