you bring up a very good point,,,Marooned script was written by a daredevil WWII pilot that most likely had connections to Howard Hughes .... Hughes might have enlisted the help of Nixon too get controll over the RKO movie studio that Joseph P. Kennedy (JFKs father )once had control over in order for the resources/logistics needed to perpetrate Hoax and took it black..

Perhaps no President was as close to Walt Disney as Richard Nixon.
Nixon and Walt spent a significant amount of time together. Disney had no greater national booster than Nixon and located Disneyland right in his backyard.

But if as the Nixon/Disney connection didnt seem strange enough. In 1959 Walt Disney “kidnapped” the Vice President.

On June 14, 1959, Disneyland was introducing its state of the art Monorail system & while Nixon was paying a State Visit he was welcomed by Walt ,, Walt suggested that they step into the monorail ,then Walt hit “FORWARD” and the monorail took off like a shot. Nixons security detail was still on the platform when the ride suddenly went underway. They frantically ran after it, to no avail. They helplessly watched as Nixon rode off as Walt’s captive on the 4,200 feet of track.

When the monorail made its loop and came back to the starting point, the Secret Service agents breathed a sigh of relief, only to see Walt’s face smiling and waving at them through the front window as he sailed by them for a second trip . After much anxiety on the platform, Walt returned the VP unharmed.

Later in 1959, Soviet Leader Nikita Kruschev was on a history making State Visit to the U.S., with stops all over the country. Influenced by Vice President Nixon’s previous touting of the park, Kruschev insisted that a trip to Disneyland be included on the itinerary. When the request was refused for security reasons, Premiere Kruschev went ballistic. He flew back to Moscow fuming

A few months after this, Nixon lost the Presidential election to John F. Kennedy and retired from public service. Or so he claimed.

I see we're back to vague allegations about how a hoax might possibly have been planned, rather than any evidence that it actually was.

I suppose the hoax believers have realised that there is ZERO evidence of a hoax, so they just spin stories and innuendo about Dick, Walt and Howard. Which is all very interesting but 100% off topic.

Howard Hughes had connections to alot of people he was an industry leader until he went bat crazy. Nixons role was to shut down the apollo program not promote it. Unfortunately that wasnt easy for him partly because people saw this as JFKs dream.

he constructed the HMB-1 which was pulled up through the Moon pool & that was conducted in the public view and with intensive Soviet surveillance..

Hughes “sponsored” the operation, “the Hughes empire was the perfect ‘front’ for the endeavor being a privately owned corporation; Hughes was known for undertaking exotic projects

when the Los Angeles Times tried to run a story about the Hughes company that provided cover for the project ,it was broken into and documents about Glomar were stolen.

Now I'm really lost. What does a recovery ship, launched 18 months after the last moon landing, have to do with Apollo, other than the word "moon" occurring in the name "moon pool"??

If you're going to put something in quotes, link to where you got it from.

I googled your supposed quote and Hughes was not the mastermind of the project - his company it was a front for the CIA (to retrieve a sunken Soviet sub).

Seemingly a document about Glomar went missing after a break in at the company offices (not the LA TImes). It was found inside the building by a security guard and destroyed. The LA Times ran the story, they were not the victims of the break in.

What is to dispute? The CIA covers stuff up? Yes, and it's not very good at it, because we seem to know about most of their cover-ups. Even a small scale operation like this. Trying to cover up anything big would be way beyond them.

How on earth are you making a connection between a submarine mission and the moon landings anyway? Do you have any argument other than "mumble mumble Howard Hughes mumble CIA mumble"?

Seriously though, considering they grew up as children together both being protected by the secret service at the same time, and probably found it easier to hang out with each other socially rather than with other people (outside the White House) socially, then it isn't terribly surprising that they ended up marrying. They probably formed quite a bond as 10 or 11 year-olds in the same boat at the same time -- both not being able to be normal kids who do normal things, such as play with a group of friends.

Plus, He later went to Amherst College and she went to Smith College -- both of which are in/near Amherst, MA ( by the way -- and OT -- my own daughter goes to college in Amherst, MA).
