But, ....I'm saying I've been reading a lot of posts with people cat fighting , calling each other names, and posts that have been removed due to rude language ...from what I've been reading it seems to be the norm for ATS..or is it?... I'm just amazed at how much intelligence is on this website, but there are quite a few who ACT so childish.....calling you moron and idiot, etc.... Ive even seen people post links to hard evidence and they were still called an idiot. ....and no i dont like getting my ass kicked..... I am a bartender by trade, so occasionally i have to thwart a bar brawl...I am a girl and dont like getting in the middle of dudes going at it, but if I have to get in the middle of it, i will.....(at that point I dump a pitcher of cold water on them!!)
Only twice on ATS have I seen a member come back and say they were wrong, had their facts wrong, and apologized. And I thought that was very admirable ! ....I'm sure it's happened more , you just don't see it often. ..There is a lot of information on this website that helps people, and the Mods work very hard here, but there is alot of ass whooping going on!

Fortunately your comment was within the first few as I seldom waste time with them anymore. The pickin's are simply not worth any effort. You suggest the Owners and the Mods are addressing the problems but that's not likely because they created the problem themselves.

ATS has been hijacked by the ignorant and the mindless and polluted water has reached it's own level among the generations raised and educated to the lowest common denominator. These days ATS is a Social Network filled with young Lemmings basking in their shared ignorance.

Readership hours are down significantly and the intelligent posters are staying away in droves. Members turn off the volume and given the current state of affairs don't spend enough time onsite to use any advertisers.

Members would do well to hammer these complaints and start threads that address these problems (and solutions). Notice the eagerness the newest members express half-baked immature opinions and yet are never smart enough to ask the right questions?

When I mentioned stars, it was within the context that my message had reached somebody- that is what each and every star symbolises, quite literally. So if you see a poster with thousands of stars, then that poster has reached thousands of people and those people can spread the info to many thousands more. I'm pretty sure I explained that in the OP.

Why don't you take 5 mins from bashing everything and actually start a decent thread yourself? Show ATS how it should be done

I have been on this kick all day. Two fellow posters of this site have sent me messages today thanking me for posting here and helping them explore their thoughts...

I love your words here and the whole message you wrote here but this line sums up my feelings very well. I've not scored big with many threads. Just a few...and by scored I mean response was very positive and people seem really interested and moved by something I put together. Yet, for all the comments on those few threads I've done well on and for how meaningful the public response is.......it's the response in U2U that usually never even sees a note from the same people posted on the thread at all, which mean the most.

When the inbox is ringing like an old fashioned phone and right off the hook, I think it's safe to say success has been had on at least one little thread and for that brief period of time.

I think anyone who says we don't touch others by the words and stories related here has simply never had the rewarding experience of "scoring" on a thread that really touched folks and really generated a private response to confirm it. If I've learned anything by those experiences, it's that the true majority reading the threads rarely post a note on them.

I'm amazed by how many names I see on those rare successful threads who I've never even heard or or seen once before.....yet obviously, they are among the silent numbers reading everything.

I learned to defend myself on AOL actually. Of course when BO ran in 08, the minions of his supporters did not like what I had to say, as I said it early on in the biggest heyday of his support. But in general one has to just learn how to debate effectively. There will always be people in online forums who will disagree and just resort to name calling.

I like to think this is the ATS theme song....

Couldn't have said it better myself. It's kind of funny I literally was just talking about how I think this site does more harm than good by spreading off -the- wall conjecture and incorrect facts.

Completely agree. ATS used to be a great place to share ideas until it was seized by some sort of right-wing-gun-loving group mixed with old fashioned trolls and people with no intellectual skills whatsoever. I'm certain this was not because of chance, alas, I can't prove it.
