If you want my opinion women in first line Ground combat should be restricted to Snipers, "Storming" Attack Forces and Commandos.

There was a time when this post would have been more balanced, you scared away all the conservatives naughty people you. Posted by HKoT

You DARE call me a liberal???? Those are fightin words!! Those are the kinds of insults that will result in pistols at 10 paces!!!!!

I agree with Alien: Those who tend to slight the willingness and ability of the women to fight and win are doomed to fall victim to a particularly embarrassing defeat at the hands of the women that they malign.

I also agree with Alien that the words Chivalry and Decency are often linked to a deep insecurity of ones masculinity.

HKoT, I noticed that you never answered my question to that effect.

Don't worry, women haven't beaten me yet and I've ran into plenty who thought they could.

I found it most funny when a friend of mine thought her buff boyfriend could snap me like a twig.

You should know Dragonrider that fighting is a skill not a born trait.

Now now, I also never called you the liberal, I was actually referring to Lysergic and Fox whom through their other posts can not deny that they are liberals.

I also was referring more towards the sudden influx of more liberals than there used to be on this site.

It's a shame that you'd be the first overboard if you were on the titanic, someday you might find yourself in a situation when honor is in question, and you will find yours failing.

You are absolutely correct. Assuming that a woman is incapable of obtaining or using such skills would be a very stupid and likely (for you) deadly mistake.

Don't worry, women haven't beaten me yet and I've ran into plenty who thought they could. Posted by HKoT

This statement just has testosterone dripping from it. This is the sort of statement that gets a macho man singled out in one of Heidi Smiths courses and soon lands him on his a$$, likely out cold. (Ive seen it happen to men much more masculine, much more experienced, much more capable, and much less stupid that this).

I found it most funny when a friend of mine thought her buff boyfriend could snap me like a twig. Posted by HKoT

A little advice: Dont worry so much about the boyfriend... worry about the woman... not only are they just as capable as men, they are much more ruthless when properly motivated... men will take you down to teach you a lesson... if the average woman is motivated to take you down, she is going for blood.

A few excerpts from the article "Don't Ever Underestimate a Woman", by Yelena Pawela, which appeared in the June 2003 issue of Combat Handguns magazine. The author is a current K9/SWAT officer (female) and previously was an officer in the Israeli IDF.

I recently was asked to teach a hand to hand self defence class at a rather prestigous shooting school. While teaching my course, I was rudely interrupted by a young man who was obviously impressed with himself and thought that because I happen to be a woman I must be the weaker sex.

This man had no knowledge of my past experience or background, but because I was a woman he just assumed that I would pose no threat to him whatsoever. Later, the two of us had a little chat like normal human beings.

Since this young man was a shooter I knew I would have to speak to him in a level on which he could associate. So I questioned him as to whether or not he thought a woman was capable of being a formidable adversary against him especially if she were given a gun.

"Although a gun would be an unwanted danger, with my training it would be highly doubtful a woman would be much of a threat." was his response.

"OK, lets say the woman is 4'11" and weighs 90 pounds. And is armed with a Browning Automatic Rifle?"

"Yeah right, in your wildest female fantasies, no woman that size is going to be able to handle such a weapon." said my expert on warfare.

"What if I told you I know of a woman that participated in 7 armed robberies, 3 kidnappings, 1 carjacking, was in a total of 11 gunfights and was responsible for the deaths of 9 police officers while wounding and additional 5 and this woman was all of 4'11", 90 pounds?"

"Bull, it never happened" was his response.

I just smiled politely and said "I am not even from your country, but I know about the exploits of Bonnie Parker of the Bonnie and Clyde gang."

So my last question is, "If one is in the business of high risk, shouldnt ones motto be 'Always expect the unexpected?'"

I would agree with you there Dragonrider...

...by all means, be confident in your abilities and strengthes...but one of the greatest weakness you can self-impose is to underestimate your opponent...sometimes when we build ourselves up all we are really doing is increasing the height from which we inevitably fall from...

Peace,
ALIEN

Woman should be in the army, because for every case of a problamatic female there is one unseen case of a problamatic male......even though the ratios to men and women are very different the principle is the same. Any gender, as long as he/she is qualified, should be allowed in the army.

Women have always have been equal to men, if not more. HKoT, I don't really think you know what your talking about.

Your Tolerance level in society is very, very low.
I suggest your look outside, the times are changing.

O.K....here's my two cents:

My oldest daughter is 6, she is a VERY proficient marksman. She target practices with targets about the size of a quarter with her air rifle at 30 yards, and up to 75 yards with the 22 cal. My wife can drive nails (with the 22), open sites, at about 10 yards. Would I want them or my other daughter, or any woman I know in the military...NO.
It's not because I think that women are inferior to men, I don't. The reason I don't want them there, besides the obvious death reason, has nothing to do with the our male troups, My concern would be enemy troups. I would not even want to think about the rape and ravage that enemy troups would do to a captured woman P.O.W.
If a woman wants to go into the armed forces and fight, fine, it's up to her, but I wouldn't want any woman I know fighting and possible getting captured in some of the countries that we oppose.

I have a comment on what JediMaster said also about all hell breaking loose if there was a miss white U.S.A. or white entertainment television... It's true! It is ok to have a black entertainment television, a miss hispanic U.S.A. or any one of a multitude of others. Here in the U.S.A. it is ok to have "Race Only" events, shows, etc. as long as they are not white. If they are white then they are considered racist. The races will never be considered equal as long as one race uses its "color" to recieve "special treatment". All this does is cause the other race to resent them more.

This would play out the same in many situations, not just race. For instance if there was a law that said that for every 6 people with brown eyes, you have to hire 1 with blue eyes, even if there was someone with brown eyes more qualified. The people with brown eyes would eventually resent the people with blue eyes because they were given special treatment...Same is true in our society today.
Ok I have rambled long enough.

Here Here! If we are going to be equal, then lets be equal..if we're not, lets stop calling it equal rights and call it oh I don't know, hows about "Differential Standardization" for a term.

Would it not be a great country/world if all of us would embrace the other's race while at the same time being allowed to be unashamed of what we are? I dare say that all races in the world have commited and been victim to the same atrocities at one time in history or another.

Women in the military? A double edged sword. I obviously have no problems with women in the military, being formerly one myself. Nuthin wrong at all, PROVIDED that they can meet standards. The problem with the current status is that standards are lowerd to accomidate females that are not fit for service. The standards should be lifted higher, so that only those capable of the task at hand are let in, and not just any females with wonder woman aspirations.

Liberal policies actually ruin the place of fmeales, because they assume that all women are delicate creatures who will shudder at dirty jokes and the like. They make relations between males and females difficult, when they shouldnt. If you join the military, youre in the environment of males, thus, male things shall happen. Those females must accept and blend in while holding thier own.

As to the age old arguement about risks of women in combat, I laugh at that. They cry about women getting raped by the enemy. LIKE SHES ANY SAFER FROM RAPISTS WALKING HOME FROM WORK! She is more likely to get sexually assaulted here by her won fellow americasn than she is by enemy troops. They act as if the idea of enemies raping a woman is somehow more horrid than if another american does it here at home. And more women get kileld every year in brutal ways at home, yet people scream about them getting blown up in combat. The double standard here is amazing and pretty sickening. When they can start crying about women getting raped and murdered here at home on the streets by thier own people, then maybe thier arguements can be taken seriously.

So what if GI Joe and jane wanna get freaky in the foxhole during downtime? Who cares? Guys will fight each other over things other then women you know. Theres always been tensions non sexual in army units, it will happen.

So if a woman can handle the standards and stuff, i say give the lady a rifle and send her a packin up the front lines! If she cant, well, then, send her back home to find something shes more suited for.

Errrmmm... Earlier someone said that "It is a man's job to protect women" in reference to who to save from a well.

Surely that infers men only should be in the army, protecting women?
