I find it very strange, the comments like (facebook post) "My house swayed like a wind was blowing thru it" and the original opening post "I felt a soundwave". I also find it strange so many are saying the ground shook BEFORE the explosion.

Maybe Uncle Sam is playing with some new toys, and the gas explosion is only a result.

And it seems like they are starting to rule out a gas leak from local reports, they are saying it's only a theory. the sun has been up for a few hours now, and still we know nothing more than we knew last night.

The Shockwave hits before the light and sound. The heat actually hits first, then the shockwave, then the light, then the sound. So, this makes sense, if you were a block or two away, you would feel the sway before hearing or seeing the explosion.

For those people very close, it was surely all simultaneous, but the farther away the observor is, the more pronounced the different speeds of effects are.

I just don't see how that much gas could leak without anyone noticing the smell? The next door neighbors were apparently home, how could they not notice that much gas leaking? You don't get an explosion of this size just by leaving a burner on the stove turned on.

Does this sound familiar???

The loud roar and shaking led some residents of the area, first responders, and news media to initially believe that it was an earthquake or that a large jetliner had crashed.
en.m.wikipedia.org...

This is the gas line explosion where a whistle blower, Jacqueline Grieg and her daughter perished.

Since that explosion I've often wondered how safe the gas "infrastructure" is. A lot of it is very old & decaying. :0(

honestly i dont think "infrastructure" has anything to do with that case....
it's fairly easy to tamper with a gas line... just sayin.

There was huge pipeline explosion in the Bay Area in 2010 that leveled 38 homes, killed 8.
this is a link to a picture of the destruction. Pic

News source

San Bruno pipeline explosion: 'A failure of the entire system' Tue, 08/30/2011 - 7:44pm — Los Angeles Times - Top News Federal panel's report blames PG&E for last year's deadly gas pipeline explosion in San Bruno, but other agencies come in for criticism too. In a scathing critique, federal investigators blamed Pacific Gas & Electric Co. for what one official called "baffling" mistakes that led to a gas pipeline explosion last September that killed eight people and destroyed 38 homes in the Bay Area last year.

I made a link be cause I'm posting this from my iPad can't upload pics to ats.

You say gas should smell like rotten eggs and not like sulfur.

BUT Sulfur smells like rotten eggs.

Oh now I'm confused.

The news is saying that the gas company found no leaks. They have no idea what caused the explosion.

A lot of the same questions came up after the San Bruno explosion. Valid questions I'd say. But then Occam's Razor comes into effect and makes me question my questions.

I don't know what to think.

Well who would have thought that would happen on ATS an OVER EXAGGERATED thread title

Ok... Having read the thread in its entirety.

Natural gas has no odor. However, certain chemicals are usually added to give it a smell. I've even heard of the use of garlic. It definitely does not smell like sulfur. Maybe the sulfur description was a mistake on the witness part? If indeed it DID smell like sulfur, then we would expect that to be broadcast at least via social media, and at this point we have not. Sulfuric smells would, if confirmed suggest a tectonic even may have taken place.

I personally am fenced between believing this was a bomb intentionally set to go off for whatever reason. Or... A natural gas explosion.

Keep in mind (and this is for the numerologists). Today is 11-11-12

11-1 (3)

1-20 (3)

12. (3)

3-3-3 is 11-1/1-20/12

Could this be a sacrificial offering to the Zorgonian cyborgs of planet Deeznuts?

Either way... Let's hope the damage is minimal, considering.

Peace and good health...

Easy to say when you're hundreds of miles away, try being a few miles away and counting your blessings(im not religious) that it wasn't you or your family.

I'm not even sure what you arre talking about anyway? is this not mass devastation to you, does 3?4?5?6? houses have to be obliterated to be considered mass destruction? does a nuke have to go off? Speculation =/= exaggeration. Either way the cause hasn't even been found and your occams razor theory HAS been ruled out it was not a natural gas explosion according to press conference with impd and gas company.

Throw the OP a bone here. If it was me & something like this happened in my area- I'd be reaching out to others trying to figure out what happened while simultaneously changing my soiled britches.

Who knows what I'd put for a thread title.

Now I think the U.S. government is somewhat evil but not stupid:

Most ominous in this VKO report is its stating that the “intended targets” of these Hellfire missiles were the US Army Resource Services (PPBES) and the US Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS), both located in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Why would anyone fire on their own bases?

The odor causing chemical added to natural gas is Mercaptan

It is what gives skunks their smell

mercaptan contain sulfur

Hydrogen sulfide is what gives rotten eggs their smell - it is a highly toxic gas often found near rotting organic
materials, hence it name "sewer gas"
