Crossing the border into Louisiana on Monday. I'll let you know if they ask me for my passport or if they give me a Cajun "pat down". Heck, if I'm feeling adventurous and they have guards at the border I'll see if they"ll give me a high speed chase!

LMAO!!
If you DO engage in a high-speed chase--just don't go down the wrong highway and break down or sumpin' cuz there's GATORS on the side of the road thar!

If I were the president I would fully support this and allow it.
I would not interfere with that new country in any way (unless they were coming over the border to kill of course). I would do that to show the rest of the country and the world that the very minimal, no regulation government some want simply doesn't work.
I don't think it would be more than 5 years before their government collapsed or their citizens revolted and then I'd welcome them back into the US.

Or the next big hurricane

From what I have been reading, the whole state will either go kabooowie or fall into itself before for they get a chance for secession.

I meant for that to be funny. But not about the people who have been evacuated from their homes or the situation down there with this sinkhole situation

I do hope they realize that once they succeed, the Cowboys and Saints won't be able to play anyone but themselves. Oh, forgot the Oilers. d

Guys, would u fight to keep the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders?
Troy! Troy! LOL
On a serious note: Just because you have the money to buy crap doesn't mean you will buy it or put it in your house. It is my hope that angry people are thinking before they sign a succession petition presented by the people they want to succeed from. It really smells of the beginning of the 10 region breakdown that use to be discussed when they first talked about FEMA camps and martial law.
Caveat emptor now because there is no customer service you'll be able to call once you find it a bad buy.

or how about. . . .

Great! People from Louisiana would need a passport to come to America, but illegals coming across the border still wouldn't!

Beezeer, there are only 50 states. If they leave, there will be 49. And you are right, they will need passports to come to the US unless they do like the illegals do, which they will once they are completely over run once they lose the US protection. Man talk about self fulfilling prophecy!

A petition means you think it mean it definite?

Heck I hope you don't read too many novels. Your word would be a nightmare.

This is bull crap. One Guy online petitioned and a few.hundred signed it. A small town has more people than that. A college has more people than that. This is one dumbass who is upset with the election.

Bull crap. Everyone in the world is eager to see it happen, but if they want to see it become a reality then they have to come here and do it themselves.

For those who have mentioned Texas in this, the Texas Nationalists have been around for years trying to secede. It's actually been a huge movement that I'm sure is gaining a lot more steam now. Here's a link with more information and more links:

Texas Secede Website (FAQ)

Hey, maybe it will finally work out for them. I just have to decide whether I'll stay in California or move back home.

"Can this work?" Ask Louisiana, it tried it once before. As I recall, however, it didn't work out all that well...

Seriously, three questions to you: Are you a US citizen? How old are you? And did you ever have a high-school course on US history? If the answers are "yes", 18 or older and "yes" to these, then immediately seek out your local Soylent Green facility and turn yourself in.

Its no different than Tex-ass claiming they are gonna secede all the time. Louisiana has the best politicians money can buy after all, and if they created their own government it would probably be more corrupt than the one in Washington.

I don't get it... 'Why did the chicken cross the road......'??

Any movement away from corrupt government is good.
The good and decent people need to take power back everywhere.

This makes me wonder though... What if we actually do get to the point where we become like EU? Where we are all like RIGHT next to each other but either some states go dependent (like Louisiana) or certain regions fuse. I mean.. It used to basically be like that. Didn't every state have it's own currency once upon a time?

It could work. But there has to be a collective movement.

So where will all those people get their food stamps and welfare once they can't rely on the Federal Government anymore?

just curious.

Maybe that is the whole point. The moocher class can move out and freedom lovers can move in.

Noooo... 'Which came first, the chicken or the egg?'
Not sure what it has to do with this topic though.

Now, to the person who questioned someone saying "I guess that would make it 56 states..." I am sure he was making a joke about the time Obama said he visited all 57 states. That's why he had the laughing face after it. You know, this one:
(Don't feel bad, I took a double-take at the statement myself before it dawned on me!)
